LANCASTER . Rowley Chapter ( No . 1051 ) . —The regular meeting of this chapter was held on Monday , the iSth inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Church-street . Present : Ccmps . Geo . as S . N . ; A . J . Relph , P . S . ; and others . _ The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken for Bro . Albert Gorton , which proving unanimous in his favour , he was duly exalted to the Royal Arch Degree . There being no further business , the chapter was closed .

MANCHESTER . Caledonian Chapter ( No . 204 ) . —The regular convocation of this chapter was held on the 21 st inst ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Cooper-street . The chapter was opened , and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The election of officers for the ensuing year then took place , and resulted as follows : Comps . Mouldsworth , Z . ; Eldershaw , H . ; Cotton , J . ; Swinn , S . E , ; Willis , S . N . ; Slatter , P . S . j Russell , ist A . S . ; Thomas , 2 nd A . S . ; H . Miller , Org . j and A . B . Whittaker , D . of C .

Comp . Aldred , P . Z ., was re-elected Treasurer . Comps . Barlow and Edgar Towell were elected Auditors . It was proposed by Comp . Hooper , P . Z ., seconded by Comp . Salmon , P . Z ., and carried unanimously , that the best thanks of the companions be tendered to Comp . Andrews , who retired from the office of S . E ., after holding that important post for 10 years , and that the same be recorded on the minutes .

There were about 45 companions present , but we regret our space does not permit the record . The M . E . Z ., Comp . VV . Cliff , presided the whole of the evening in a masterly manner . After all business had been completed , and " Hearty good wishes " from the Provincial Grand Chapter and visitors , the chapter was closed .

SALFORD . Starkie Chapter ( No . 935 ) .- —The annual installation festival of this chapter was held at the Masonic Hall , Adelphi-street , on Thursday , the 14 th inst . There were present Comps . also delivered by Comp . Sillitoe . At the conclusion of the ceremony , Comp . Lean , in the name of the companions of the chapter , presented to Comp . Evan Williams , a beautiful P . Z . 's jewel , which was suitably acknowledged by the recipient , who , before resuming his seat , proposed a vote of thanks to Comp . Sillitoe for attending to perform the ceremony of installation . This was seconded by the

M . E . Z ., who expressed the great pleasure he had experienced in hearing the beautiful ceremony so ably and impressively rendered . The vote was carried with acclamation , and was responded to by Comp . Sillitoe . After the chapter was closed the companions adjourned to refreshment , when the newly-installed M . E . Z . presided , and during the evening he , in conjunction with Comps T . ' and J . Tanner , added much to the enjoyment by a capital rendering of glees and songs .

John ' s Chapter ( No . 328 ) . —A convocation of this chapter was held in the Masonic Hall , on Wednesday , the 20 th instant , when there were present a large attendance of companions , amongst whom were Comps . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet . Upon the removal of the cloth , the customary toasts received full justice . Bro . Capt . Walls responded on behalf of "The Grand Officers , " and Bro . VV . Fisher for " The Provincial Grand Officers . "

"The W . M . 's Health , " having been proposed , was drunk most cordially , and the W . M ., having responded , gave " The Advancee . " Bro . Quartermaster Baker , in his reply , first expressed his acknowledgments to his proposer and seconder , and secondl y to the brethren for having admitted him to so interesting a Degree . He only regretted that he had not

entered Mark Masonry earlier in life . He had worked very hard in the Craft and Royal Arch Degrees , and should now endeavour to do his best for the Mark . In conclusion , he trusted that some day he should occupy the chair of the Sir Francis Burdett Lodge . " The Past Masters , Treasurer , and Secretary " followed , and was respectively responded to by Bros . J . T . Briggs ,

VV . Fisher , and Capt . Walls . The toasts of "The VV . M . elect" and "The Officers " were acknowledged by Bros . W . Porter , jun ., and Simmonds . The W . M . then gave "The Lay Members , " and coupled the toast with the name of Bro . George Everett . In his reply , Bro . Everett made one of those neat

pertinent speeches which are invariably listened to with pleasure , inasmuch as they are always clothed with a certain amount of humour and originality , and have long ago stamped that popular brother as being one of our best afterdinner speakers . During the evening Bros . Porter , Baker , Bailey , and others instrumentally and vocally entertained the brethren .

The lodge was opened in the Three Degrees , and resumed to the First and Second Degrees . Bro . Marx having offered himself as a candidate for raising , answered the usual questions , and was entrusted . The lodge was resumed to the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and the 2 nd Section of the First Lecture was rehearsed .

Bro . Osborne was admitted as a joining member of this lodge . Bro . Blum was unanimously elected VV . M . for the ensuing week . A vote of thanks was proposed and unanimously carried to Bro . Klein for the able manner in which he had discharged the duties of the chair for the first time in this lodge . All Masonic business being ended , the lodge was closed .

E ., after holding that important post for 10 years , and that the same be recorded on the minutes .

There were about 45 companions present , but we regret our space does not permit the record . The M . E . Z ., Comp . VV . Cliff , presided the whole of the evening in a masterly manner . After all business had been completed , and " Hearty good wishes " from the Provincial Grand Chapter and visitors , the chapter was closed .

M . E . Z ., who expressed the great pleasure he had experienced in hearing the beautiful ceremony so ably and impressively rendered . The vote was carried with acclamation , and was responded to by Comp . Sillitoe . After the chapter was closed the companions adjourned to refreshment , when the newly-installed M . E . Z . presided , and during the evening he , in conjunction with Comps T . ' and J . Tanner , added much to the enjoyment by a capital rendering of glees and songs .

"The W . M . 's Health , " having been proposed , was drunk most cordially , and the W . M ., having responded , gave " The Advancee . " Bro . Quartermaster Baker , in his reply , first expressed his acknowledgments to his proposer and seconder , and secondl y to the brethren for having admitted him to so interesting a Degree . He only regretted that he had not

entered Mark Masonry earlier in life . He had worked very hard in the Craft and Royal Arch Degrees , and should now endeavour to do his best for the Mark . In conclusion , he trusted that some day he should occupy the chair of the Sir Francis Burdett Lodge . " The Past Masters , Treasurer , and Secretary " followed , and was respectively responded to by Bros . J . T . Briggs ,

VV . Fisher , and Capt . Walls . The toasts of "The VV . M . elect" and "The Officers " were acknowledged by Bros . W . Porter , jun ., and Simmonds . The W . M . then gave "The Lay Members , " and coupled the toast with the name of Bro . George Everett . In his reply , Bro . Everett made one of those neat

pertinent speeches which are invariably listened to with pleasure , inasmuch as they are always clothed with a certain amount of humour and originality , and have long ago stamped that popular brother as being one of our best afterdinner speakers .
