BARROW-IN-FURNESS . Henry Cook Chapter ( No . 1021 ) . —An emergency convocation of this young and flourishing chapter was held on Friday , the 15 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , when there were present the following companions : Comps . Ramsay , Josh . Waddington , J . F . Capstick , S . Townsend , J . P . Williams ,
E . Hicks , and R . C . Turner . The chapter was opened , and , owing to the indisposition of Comp . Murray , the chair of H . was occupied by Comp . Robert Bowker . The M . E . Z . apologised for calling the companions together on such a busy evening , but explained he had to go to London early in the following week , and would not be able to attend the regular chapter . They also
had present Bro . Captain Jones , whose duties as a master mariner had prevented him from attending for exaltation , and who also would have left the port before the regular meeting . The agenda contained four names for exaltation , two of whom were unable to be present . Bros . Jones and T . Clarkson , being in attendance , were separately admitted and exalted by the M . E . Z . in his usual impressive and
faultless manner , the duties of Principal Sojourner ( in the absence of Comp . Widdows ) being most efficiently performed by Comp . J . F . Davison . The mystic lecture was then given by the M . E . Z ., the lectures of H . and J . being postponed , owing to the lateness of the hour . Before closing the chapter , the M . E . Z . rose and said he had a most pleasing task to perform—to offer for the
acceptance of the chapter an embroidered silk banner , which had been worked for the chapter by . his niece , Miss Cook . It had been to her a labour of love , not only towards himself personally , but also of love to the Institution to which he was proud to belong . The emblems worked upon it taught them peace , love , and harmony , and those virtues , he trusted , would ever be maintained in the chapter , and as
the working of the design had entailed thousands of stitches , so might they be emblematical of the thousands of good wishes and acts the companions might ever have and do towards each other . Comp . R . W . Worrall , P . Z ., P . P . G . D . C , on behalf of the chapter , thanked the M . E . Z . and Miss Cook for the beautiful banner , which he assured them would be much
prized , not only on account of its intrinsic value , but as a further evidence of the great interest which Comp . Cook had in the welfare of the chapter . He but expressed the sincere wish of every companion that the M . E . Z . might enjoy good health to come amongst them , and give them the benefit of his experience and advice , and concluded an eloquent speech by proposing that " The thanks of the chapter
be given to the M . E . Z . and Miss Cook , and that the same be entered upon the minutes of the chapter . " This was seconded by Comp . C . P . Richards , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N ., and carried with acclamation . The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to supper , under the presidency of the Three Principals .
The banner , which is of white silk , is bordered with the Royal Arch colours , with cords and tassels of the same colours . In the centre is the triangle in gold thread , the circle in scarlet , with the words " Henry Cook Chap ter , No . 1021 , " in gold upon the circle , and proceeding from the
the circle are rays of light also in gold . At the top are three jewels of the Three Principals in gold embroidery , and in the bottom corners the S . S . and hexagon in circles also in gold , the whole effect being most tasteful and p leasing , while the beautiful manner in which the designs were worked called forth the warmest admiration from all the
companions . The materials , cross bar , & c , were manufactured by Comp . George Kenning .

BARROW-IN-FURNESS . Henry Cook Chapter ( No . 1021 ) . —An emergency convocation of this young and flourishing chapter was held on Friday , the 15 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , when there were present the following companions : Comps . H . Cook , P . G . Reg ., M . E . Z . ; John Murray , H . ; P . L . Booth , J . j Wm . Roberts , S . E . j John Hague , S . N . ;
J . F . Davison , ist A . S . ; R . VV . Worrall , P . Z ., " P . P . G . D . of C . j C . P . Richards , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N ., Org . ; G . Nelson , P . Z ., Stwd . j J . Artis , Janitor ; Robert Bowker , H . 1225 ; G . S . Heath , P . Z . 1225 j J . Settle , P . Z . 1225 , P . P . G . Std . Br . ; T . Sutton , Z . 1225 , P . G . 2 nd A . S . ; C . VV . Hunter , Wm .
