The foregoing petitions being in all respects regular , the Committee recommend that the prayers thereof be respectively granted . The Committee have further to report that they have received a memorial from the Universal Chapter praying that the chapter may be detached from Lodge No . 181 , and attached to the Cadogan Lodge , No . 162 ,

Londonboth lodges having given their consent—and that the chapter may be called the Cadogan Chapter . The Committee recommend that the prayer of this memorial be granted . The Committee have likewise received memorials , with copies of minutes .

for permission to remove the following chapters : The Chapter of Hope , No . 54 , from the Spread Eagle Hotel , to the Masonic Hall , Yorkshire-street , Rochdale , Lancashire ( E . D . ) The Bisley Chapter , No . 2317 , from the National Schools , Bisley , to the Masonic Hall , Woking , Surrey .

The Committee recommend that the removal of these chapters be sanctioned . The Committee have to report that they have received a memorial from the companions of the Perseverance Chapter , No . 275 , Huddersfield , praying for a charter authorising them to wear a centenary jewel , in accordance with Rule 102 of the Royal Arch regulations .

This memorial being in form , and the chapter having proved an uninterrupted existence for 100 years , the Committee recommend that the prayer thereof be . granted . The Committee have also to report the receipt of a letter from the

Provincial Grand . Scribe E ., Durham , stating that De Burghi Chapter , No . 424 , Gateshead , has not met for more than five years , and that he thinks the charter should be returned by the last M . E . Z . No returns have been made to Grand Chapter by this chapter since 1882 .

The Committee recommend that the chapter be called upon to return the charter , and that the chapter be taken off the register . Notice of motion by Comp . ROBERT GREY , President of Grand Chapter Committee :

That in recognition of the eminent services of the late Grand S . E ., Colonel Shadwell H . Clerke , the sum of . 6100 be voted from the funds of Grand Chapter , and paid into the Bloomsbury Branch of the London and Westminster Bank to the account of the Earl of Lathom , the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , and Sir Albert W . Woods , Trustees of " The Shadwell Clerke Trust , " for the purpose of pur chasing a Government Life Annuity for Mrs . Clerke .

The Provincial Grand Chapter of Surrey was held on Thursday , the 14 th inst ., at the Assembly Rooms , Surbiton . Comp . Col . Noel Money , C . B ., Grand Superintendent , was supported by Comps . Frederick West , Prov . G . H . ; Dr . Strong , C . Greenwood , Prov . G . S . E . ; J . D . Langton , Hugh M . Hobbs , George Price , Prov . G . Treas . ; W . Fox Hawes , F . Cambridge , P . P . G . On the proposition of the GRAND SUPERINTENDENT , a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Comp . Geo . Price for his very valuable services as Prov . Grand Treasurer for many years past .

Ireas ., in acknowledging the vote , said that being in his 83 rd year , he had thought it prudent to retire from office , but he should carry with him , and he hoped retain , the good wishes , confidence , and esteem of the companions . CONSECRATION OF THE JAMES TERRY CHAPTER , No . 2372 .

On Wednesday , the 20 th instant , another addition was made to the rapidly increasing roll of Royal Arch chapters under the Supreme Grand Chapter of England . It is not very many years since the whole of the lodges and chapters in Hertfordshire might have been numbered on the fingers of one hand , but under the able and popular guidance of the present head of the province Masonry in all its branches has made remarkable

progress . The latest acquisition is the James Terry Chapter , No . 2372 , consecrated at the Cheshunt Hall by Comp . G . E . Lake , Prov . G . H ., assisted by Comps . G . B . Cooper , Prov . G . J ., as H . ; C . E . Keyser , Grand Swd . Br ., P . P . G . J ., as J . ; and James Terry , Past G . S . B ., Prov . G . D . of C , M . E . Z . designate , as D . C . The other founders present were Comps . R . F . Brickdale , P . Z . 1 C 23 , H .

designate ; James Knight , P . Z . 174 , J . designate ; W . A . Sproat , Z . 174 ; W . P . Warren , P . S . 174 ; J . Tydeman , F . M . Bilby , and Wm . Metcalfe . In addition to the Prov . The usual preliminaries having been gone through , Comp . C . E . K EYSER , at the request of the Consecrating officer , addressed the companions to the following purport , with an eloquence which rivettcd the attention and elicited the approbation of all present :

Most Excellent and Companions , —It is with the highest gratification , accompanied by feelings of diffidence as to my ability to perform my task , that I nr" * myself called upon tor the third time in a comparatively short period to deliver the customary oration included in the ceremony of the consecration of a new chapter . In the first place I must most heartily congratulate our flourishing

province and our deservedly popular Grand Superintendent on the rapid progress which Royal Arch Masonry is making amongst us , and I sincerely hope that other lodges , when they feel themselves sufficiently strong to do so , will folio" ' the example set them to-day and establish chapters in connection W '" their lodges , so that all the brethren may have an opportunity °

On the proposition of the GRAND SUPERINTENDENT , a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Comp . Geo . Price for his very valuable services as Prov . Grand Treasurer for many years past .

Comp . Geo . PRICE , P . P . G . Ireas ., in acknowledging the vote , said that being in his 83 rd year , he had thought it prudent to retire from office , but he should carry with him , and he hoped retain , the good wishes , confidence , and esteem of the companions . Prov . Grand Chapter was then closed .

CONSECRATION OF THE JAMES TERRY CHAPTER , No . 2372 .

On Wednesday , the 20 th instant , another addition was made to the rapidly increasing roll of Royal Arch chapters under the Supreme Grand Chapter of England . It is not very many years since the whole of the lodges and chapters in Hertfordshire might have been numbered on the fingers of one hand , but under the able and popular guidance of the present head of the province Masonry in all its branches has made remarkable

progress . The latest acquisition is the James Terry Chapter , No . 2372 , consecrated at the Cheshunt Hall by Comp . G . E . Lake , Prov . G . H ., assisted by Comps . G . B . Cooper , Prov . G . J ., as H . ; C . E . Keyser , Grand Swd . Br ., P . P . G . J ., as J . ; and James Terry , Past G . S . B ., Prov . G . D . of C , M . E . Z . designate , as D . C . The other founders present were Comps . R . F . Brickdale , P . Z . 1 C 23 , H .

designate ; James Knight , P . Z . 174 , J . designate ; W . A . Sproat , Z . 174 ; W . P . Warren , P . S . 174 ; J . Tydeman , F . M . Bilby , and Wm . Metcalfe . In addition to the Prov . Grand Officers named , the visitors included Comps . C . H . Webb , P . Z . 174 ; H . Sadler , P . Z . 169 , Grand Janitor ; Egbert Roberts , P . Z . 1623 ; S . M . Banker , H . 1385 , Prov . G . Std . Br . ; and T . Wright , Prov . Grand Janitor .

The usual preliminaries having been gone through , Comp . C . E . K EYSER , at the request of the Consecrating officer , addressed the companions to the following purport , with an eloquence which rivettcd the attention and elicited the approbation of all present :

Most Excellent and Companions , —It is with the highest gratification , accompanied by feelings of diffidence as to my ability to perform my task , that I nr" * myself called upon tor the third time in a comparatively short period to deliver the customary oration included in the ceremony of the consecration of a new chapter . In the first place I must most heartily congratulate our flourishing

province and our deservedly popular Grand Superintendent on the rapid progress which Royal Arch Masonry is making amongst us , and I sincerely hope that other lodges , when they feel themselves sufficiently strong to do so , will folio" ' the example set them to-day and establish chapters in connection W '" their lodges , so that all the brethren may have an opportunity °
