dispensation from Lord Egerton of Tatton , Prov . Grand Master , attended in Masonic clothing the parish church of St . Mary . A special form of prayer was offered by the rector , who afterwards preached an eloquent sermon appropriate to the mournful occasion .

A special meeting of the St . John ' s ( 32 S ) and Jordan ( 1402 ) Lodges was held at the Masonic Hall , Torquay , at which , after Bro . W . J . Hughan , P . G . D ., had delivered an appropriate address , the following resolution of sympathy was passed , viz . :

The W . M . ' s , P . M . 's , Wardens , and brethren of the Torquay lodges desire to express their respectful and heartfelt sympathy and condolence with H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Princess of Wales , and the members of their family , in the great loss ivhich has fallen upon them by the decease of H . R . H . the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , K . G ., P . G . M . of Berkshire , P . G . W . of England , and pray that the Great Architect of the Universe may graciously sustain and comfort their Royal Highnesses under their very sad bereavement .

Ihe Prov . Grand Chapter of Dorsetshire held a special convocation on Wednesday , the 27 th instant , when a resolution of condolence was passed . The three Principals , Bros . M . J . Guest , G . Supt . ; W . F * . Brymer , M . P ., Prov . G . II . ; and J . A . Shervin , Prov . G . J ., presided , when the following resolution to the Prince and Princess of Wales was unanimously adopted :

We the members of the Royal Arch Chapter of Dorset beg very respectfully to approach your Royal Highnesses on the sad occasion of the death of your illustrious son , his Royal Highness the late Duke of Clarence and Avondale , and

effer the assurance of our deep regret and sympathy on the irreparable loss which your Rojal Highr . essts and your Royal House have so suddenly and unexpectedly sustained . A similar resolution to the Queen was also adopted .

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF DURHAM .

A special Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham was held on Thursday , the 21 st instant , at the Masonic Hall , Durham , to adopt an address of condolence to the Prince of Wales on the death of the Duke of Clarence . The lodge room was draped in crape , and the brethren appeared in Masonic mourning . There was a very large attendance of members of the Craft . The Provincial Grand Master , Bro . The Provincial Grand Lodge having been opened , Bro . Sir HEUWORTII WILLIAMSON expressed his sadness at the circumstances under which they were met . He referred with satisfaction to the large attendance , notwithstanding that so many brethren were suffering from illness . They all deeply regretted the absence of Canon Tristram .

The PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER said : 1 little thought only yesterday week , when in my old Palatine Lodge , we were holding our little festival to wish success aud prosperity in his Masonic career to my oldest son , whom J had just initialed into Masonry , and whilst we were p ledging the youngest and most inexperienced of our Craft , I little thought that the next time I wore Masonic clothing it would be as now—to express to the head of our

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF DURHAM .

A special Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham was held on Thursday , the 21 st instant , at the Masonic Hall , Durham , to adopt an address of condolence to the Prince of Wales on the death of the Duke of Clarence . The lodge room was draped in crape , and the brethren appeared in Masonic mourning . There was a very large attendance of members of the Craft . The Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Sir Hcdworth Williamson , Bart ., presided , and in the absence , through illness , of the Deputy Prov . G . M ., Bro .

The Provincial Grand Lodge having been opened , Bro . Sir HEUWORTII WILLIAMSON expressed his sadness at the circumstances under which they were met . He referred with satisfaction to the large attendance , notwithstanding that so many brethren were suffering from illness . They all deeply regretted the absence of Canon Tristram .

The PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER said : 1 little thought only yesterday week , when in my old Palatine Lodge , we were holding our little festival to wish success aud prosperity in his Masonic career to my oldest son , whom J had just initialed into Masonry , and whilst we were p ledging the youngest and most inexperienced of our Craft , I little thought that the next time I wore Masonic clothing it would be as now—to express to the head of our
