GRAND SECRETARY . Bro . T . F . HALSEY : Most Worship ful Grand Master in the chair , —I rise to second the motion which you , sir , have proposed from the chair , and 1 do so with the very great sense of responsibility that falls upon me to do this . But , at the same time , feeling as I do the difficulty to express in adequate language the sentiments which animate , I may say not only my

breast , but the breast of every brother present and every Mark Mason throughout the world , I feel there are occasions of sorrow when we can hardly adequately express that feeling . We feel most deeply the sorrowand the distress which our Royal Family and our Most Worship ful Grand Master are suffering at this moment—a distress which is shared , I may venture to say , by the whole count : ) ' at large--a grief which falls in the first place upon them , and

secondl y upon the whole nation , in a manner in which we at any rate in our recollection have no remembrance of , and I trust no person will in future ¦ have . I am well aware that no words of ours can really bring comfort and consolation to our Most Worshi p ful Grand Master , our Queen , and the Royal Famil y in the loss from which they are suffering ; but this at least one may venture to hope , 1 think , that the universal expression of sympathy from ; l n classes of the subjects of the Otieen , and not the least from this
