The lodge having been opened by the W . M ., Bro . G . Osborn presented Bro . Dr . W . T . Knight for installation as W . M . of the lodge during the ensuing year , and the ceremony was most admirably and impressively performed by Bro . J . C . Jones , P . M ., P . P . J . G . W . There was a Board of about 20 Installed Masters present . The newly-installed VV . M . afterwards appointed and invested the following as

Billingham , on behalf of Bro H . Allmitt , of the Beneventa Lodge , who was unavoidably absent , presented to the Lodge of Fidelity a set of working tools in the Third Degree . The present was heartily accepted by the W . M .,

and Bro . Billingham was asked to convey the hearty thanks of the lodge to Bfb .. Allmitt for his kindness . A vote of thanks to Bro . Allni ""!' , was proposed and carried , and to be entered on the' minutes , on the proposition of Bro . Jones , seconded by Bro . Kingcombe . The lodge was then closed . The brethren subsequently sat down to an excellent banquet at the Pomfret Hotel , and the catering of Bro .

McAusltn gave great satisfaction . The newly-installed W . M ., Bro . Dr . Knight , presided , and the number of the company was augmented by the presence of Bro . J . Terry , P . G . S . B ., and Secretary of the Roval Masonic Benevolent Institution ; Bros . A . Jones , P . M . 1764 ; and S . S . Campaion , 1764 . At the conclusion of the banquet the Worshipful Master

proposed The Queen and the Craft , " which was loyally honoured . The Worshipful Master next submitted the toast of "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Order , " and spoke in high terms of praise of the great interest shown in Alasonry by his Royal Highness . The toast of " The Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom ,

Grand Officers , Present and Past . " The toast was acknowledged by Bro . A . Cockerill , P . P . G . Treas ., who expressed his regret at the absence of the D . P . G . M ., but his pleasure at the recovery from his recent illness . Bro . M . Heslop , I . P . M ., submitted the toa ^ t of the evening , that of "The Worshipful Master of the Lodge of

Fidelity . " In lodge and also out of lodge Bro . Knight , he said , was honoured as a brother , and in every sense of the word had been tried and found true . As a brother Mason , he said he could speak of him as one who had proved the truest and most disinterested friend any person could wish for . He felt the W . M . had not lived among them the number of years he had without their appreciating not only

his intellectual qualities , but those of heart and mind , which knitted them together in one great brotherhood , irrespective of class , creed , or country . They had known him in the past , and had proved his fidelity . They had proved his ability , and had learned of his charity , and he w is possessed of that great decision of character which would well enable him to carry out the high office to which he had been

elected . The toast was most heartily drunk . The Worshipful Master , in the course of his reply , said that was one of the happiest moments of his life . He thought every Mason felt proud when he reached the position in which they had placed him , and more especially must he teel happy when he found himself surrounded by

so many distinguished brethren and friends . It was a difficult matter , he said , to follow such a Master as Bro . Heslop , but still , he would do his best to carry out the duties of his office , and to follow the excellent example set him by the l . P . M . He hoped the officers and brethren of the lodge would give him all the assistance they could during his year of office , and that it might prove a most successful and

pleasant year . _ "The Visiting Brethren" was submitted by Bro . W . Whitton , and responded to by Bros . F . B . Whitford , J . J . Hart , H . Brown , A . Jones , J . Currall , the Rev . W . Grand Officers " with his usual felicity . The I . P . Z . gave "The M . E . Z . " in the course of his remarks he congratulated the M . E . Z . upon the manner in which he had exalted the candidate . He ( the speaker ) was fully aware that to master the details of the Degre : was by no means an easy matter , and any companion acquiring that proficiency was to be commended .

The Al . E . Z ., in reply , paid a high compliment to the Past Principals , who , at a moment ' s notice , had undertaken certain offices , and without whose assistance the work could not have been proceeded with . "The Second and Third Principals" followed , and to which toast Comp . Dennis replied .

In response to his health , the Exaltee made an interesting speech . The toast of " The Past Principals " . was coupled with the name of Comp . W . A . Dowling , who briefly acknowledged the compliment . "The Health of the S . E . and Treasurer" came next in order . Comp . Gearge Everett , P . Z ., in replying to this toast ,

said that he was proud of being associated with the Kennington Chapter , the meetings were always so harmonious and pleasant . That night , he thought , was one of the happiest he had sp » nt within those walls . The work had been well done , the dinner an I wines left nothing to be

desired , and the selections of harmony had not only been varied but excellent in quality . In conclusion , he wished to state that the finances were in a prosperous condition , and he had to thank his old friend and colleague , Comp . Higgins , their respected Scribe E ., for his valuable assistance .

" The Health of the Officers" was coupled with the names of Comps . Buxton , Colwell , and Hopkins . In the intervals of the toasts Comps . Everett , W . P . Webb , Hopkins , Buxton , and Lundie entertained the companions with instrumental , vocal , and dramatic selections .

The minutes were read and confirmed . There was a candidate balloted for , and , being favourable , he was exalted to the superior Degree by Comp . Arthur Jefferis , P . Z ., P . G . J ., in a very able manner , which was highly appreciated by the companions present .

TWICKENHAM . Sir Francis Burdett Chapter ( No . 1503 ) . —This chapter met for the dispatch of business at the Albany Hotel on the iSth instant . Among those in attendance were Comps . the Rev . S . " In the course of his remarks he alluded to the fact of the First Principal ' s intention to represent the chapter at the Boys' Festival next year , when he trusted that his list would be beneficial to that deserving Institution , and creditable to No . 1503 . The M . E . Z ., having replied , gave "The Second and

Third Principals . " Comps . Toulmin , jun ., and Hakim , in their respective replies , trusted that they would be able to discharge their duties in a manner that would be satisfactory to the chapter . Comp . VV . Taylor responded on behalf of " The Past Principals , " and Comps . Davis and Robinson for " The Officers . " The proceedings then terminated .

M . had not lived among them the number of years he had without their appreciating not only

his intellectual qualities , but those of heart and mind , which knitted them together in one great brotherhood , irrespective of class , creed , or country . They had known him in the past , and had proved his fidelity . They had proved his ability , and had learned of his charity , and he w is possessed of that great decision of character which would well enable him to carry out the high office to which he had been

elected . The toast was most heartily drunk . The Worshipful Master , in the course of his reply , said that was one of the happiest moments of his life . He thought every Mason felt proud when he reached the position in which they had placed him , and more especially must he teel happy when he found himself surrounded by

In response to his health , the Exaltee made an interesting speech . The toast of " The Past Principals " . was coupled with the name of Comp . W . A .
