Hambling , Lord Lilford , and J . Sheimerdine . The Iodge having been opened , and the usual formalities comp lied with , Bros . Lord Lilford and Jesse Sheimerdine , both of 607 , were admitted and advanced to the honourable Degree of M . M . The W . M . performed the whole of

the ceremony in a most perfect and impressive manner . Probably this is an occurrence unique in the annals of Mark Masonry , where a father vvas advanced by his son , and that at a special lodge held in his own private residence . $ The loige having been closed the brethren were entertained in a most hospitable manner by Bro . Lord Lilford . Tha W . M . submitted io glorious terms the toast of " The Oueen and Mark Masonry , " which was duly honoured .

Bro . A . E . Parsons , J . W ., submitted in eulogistic words " The Health of the Newly-advanced Brethren , " to which Bro . Lord Lilford replied , regretting that although he was the oldest living member of the Chicheley Lodge , he had been for so long a time incapacitated from attending its meetings how pleased and impressed he had been with the ceremony of the day , and wishing that God ' s richest blessings might be bestowed on the brethren of the lodge .

Bro . J . Sheimerdine also responded . The toast of " The Worshipful Master " vvas proposed in eloquent language by Bro . Hambling , and the opportunity taken of offering hearty congratulations to him on his approaching marriage . Bro . Powys heartily thanked the brethren for their good wishes and said how pleased he had been to receive the brethren " At Home , " and hoped it had given as much "ratification to them as it had to himself .

The brethren afterwards visited the celebrated aviary , probably the finest private collection in the country , and vvere accompanied by Bro . Lord Lilford , who gave many very interesting particulars respecting the habits , & c , of many of his specimens , which added considerably to the enjoyment of the visitors . BRO . ALFRED WILLIAMS , The funeral of Bro . Alfred Williams , whose death we briefly noticed last week , took place at Norwood Cemetery on Wednesday . The attendance of members of the Craft , although numerous , would have been much larger , but for the fact that many of his more

intimate Masonic friends were absent on an important function in Guernsey , but it was pleasing to find that his memory was so honoured in the lodge in which he took a special interest—the Macdonald Mark—that it was represented by the following members : Bros . Ihe coffin was covered with beautiful wreaths and crosses . At the head was placed a beautiful wreath by Mrs . Williams , widow of the deceased . A wreath was also sent from Bro . John Aird , ALP . ; also one from Bro . Mildred , Bro . Mainwaring ,. and a cross from Bro . > 1 H . Bale , the most conspicuous being the emblematical triangle covered with flowersrepresenting the

, colours of the Mark Degree clothing with a keystone in the centre , on which was the following inscription .-" In memoriam . To Bro . Alfred Williams , from the members of the Macdonald Lodge of Mark Master Masons , No . 104 . With very great regret and deep sympath y . " This was designed by Bro . W . H . Bale ,

1 -Al . and Secretary of the Macdonald Lodge . The emp loyees of the firm also sent a beautiful wreath . Bro . Alfred Williams will be greatly missed by his \ v ' brethren > especially at the General Board of the Mark Degree , of which he has been for many years past an active member . We tender to the widow ° ur warmest sympathy in the loss she has sustained .

To meet the expected additional traffic by the ordinary trains on Saturday , August 4 th , the Company will run in duplicate , the 3 . 0 5 . 0 and 9 . 0 p . m . trains to the West of England , the 12 . 0

noon 3 . 15 and 9 . 15 p . m . trains to Weymouth , and South Wales . The first portion of the 5 . 0 and 9 . 0 p . m . trains will leave Paddington at 4 . 55 and S . 55 p . m . respectively , but the first portions of the other trains will leave at the advertised times , and the second a few minutes afterwards , the long distance passengers being as far as possible taken in the first portion , but with a few exceptions both trains will

Probably this is an occurrence unique in the annals of Mark Masonry , where a father vvas advanced by his son , and that at a special lodge held in his own private residence . $ The loige having been closed the brethren were entertained in a most hospitable manner by Bro . Lord Lilford . Tha W . M . submitted io glorious terms the toast of " The Oueen and Mark Masonry , " which was duly honoured .

Bro . A . E . Parsons , J . W ., submitted in eulogistic words " The Health of the Newly-advanced Brethren , " to which Bro . Lord Lilford replied , regretting that although he was the oldest living member of the Chicheley Lodge , he had been for so long a time incapacitated from attending its meetings how pleased and impressed he had been with the ceremony of the day , and wishing that God ' s richest blessings might be bestowed on the brethren of the lodge .

Bro . J . Sheimerdine also responded . The toast of " The Worshipful Master " vvas proposed in eloquent language by Bro . Hambling , and the opportunity taken of offering hearty congratulations to him on his approaching marriage . Bro . Powys heartily thanked the brethren for their good wishes and said how pleased he had been to receive the brethren " At Home , " and hoped it had given as much "ratification to them as it had to himself .

The brethren afterwards visited the celebrated aviary , probably the finest private collection in the country , and vvere accompanied by Bro . Lord Lilford , who gave many very interesting particulars respecting the habits , & c , of many of his specimens , which added considerably to the enjoyment of the visitors . BRO . ALFRED WILLIAMS , The funeral of Bro . Alfred Williams , whose death we briefly noticed last week , took place at Norwood Cemetery on Wednesday . The attendance of members of the Craft , although numerous , would have been much larger , but for the fact that many of his more

intimate Masonic friends were absent on an important function in Guernsey , but it was pleasing to find that his memory was so honoured in the lodge in which he took a special interest—the Macdonald Mark—that it was represented by the following members : Bros . John Aird , ALP . ; also one from Bro . Mildred , Bro . Mainwaring ,. and a cross from Bro . > 1 H . Bale , the most conspicuous being the emblematical triangle covered with flowersrepresenting the

, colours of the Mark Degree clothing with a keystone in the centre , on which was the following inscription .-" In memoriam . To Bro .
