Vincent , Farningdon , Devonport , Melbourne , Hitchin , Peru , Jersey , Callington , Swansea , East Dereham , Bermuda , Hereford , Withington , Coleshill , Boston , Manchester , South Shields , Malta , Spalding , Romiord , and Gibraltar . In the course of a sitting vvhich did not terminate till half-past ten o ' clock two of these cases vvere dismissed , six

were deferred , and in another the petitioning brother died the night before . The remaining cases were relieved with a total p f £ 1075 . There vvere two recommendations to Grand Lodge tor £ 100 each , and two for £ 50 each ,- five recommendations to the Grand Master for £ 40 each , and four for £ 30 each . Sixteen grants of £ 20 each vvere made , three of £ 15 each , seven of £ 10 each , and four of £ <; each .

PRESENTATION ~ TO BRO . GARSIA . At the last half-yearl y Communication of the District Grand Lodge , the Jubilee honour intended for this district was announced in the appointment of Bro . Henry Gar'ia to the rank of a P . D . D . G . M ., the R . W . Dist . Grand Master declaring at the time that he was actuated in thus filling up an appointment left to his discretion by the fact that Bro

Garsia was the oldest surviving P . M . of the oldest lodge in the district . In recognition of the honour thus done to their lodge , the members of the Royal at their next meeting passed a resolution of thanks to the D . G . M . and appointed a . Committee to prepare an address of congratulation to Bro . Garsia .

It is , 1 think , natural for one , singled out for special recognition to be gratified , but on the occasion of my appointment to the rank , the pleasure is enhanced , seeing that such appointment is conferred on me as the Senior Past Master of this the oldest Iodge

in the Province , in honour of the Jubilee of her Most Gracious Majesty sanctioned by his Royal Highness the W . M ., the Grand Master of England . When I look round and see so many new faces , I am reminded of many of my fellow workers vvho have rested from labour , and of the uncertainty of life , but if , in the exercise of the ever wise discretion of T . the centenary of our lodge arrives it will afford me no little pleasure to join my brethren in such rejoicings as may be decided on to celebrate the event . Ihe address to the W . M . and officers vvas very eloquently delivered by the Installing Master . The R . W . D . G . M . then , on behalf of the lodge , presented Bro . W . H . Purnell with a handsome P . M . 's jewel , and in doing so alluded to the unvarying kindness and urbanity of the recipient who possessed the esteem of his brethren . Bro . Purnell responded , and said that he was at a loss to find words to adequately thank the brethren for their good feelin ° -

towards him in presenting him vvith so beautiful a jewel . According to a unanimous vote of the lodge , a letter of congratulation to Bro . J . R . Hudson , P . The ceremony of consecrating the above lodge tool ; place at the new Masonic Hall , Cairo , on Thursday , the 29 th ult . It was rendered specially interesting from the fact that this is the first Royal Ark Mariners Lod ge ever established in Egypt . The following brethren vvere present : Bros . Captain G . Bro . Captain G . Williams Freeman performed the ceremonies of elevation and consecration in a most effective and efficient manner . The Consecrating Officer opened a

lodge of Royal Ark Mariners , and having elevated Bro . S . Mousally , proceeded with the ceremony of consecration , the following brethren assisting in bearing the elements of consecration : Bros . Bro . Capt . G . Williams Freeman , who had previously been installed as W . C . N , at the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England , then . proceeded to invest his officers as follows * . Bro . A . Mortimer vvas unanimously elected Treasurer , and duly invested with the collar of that office . With " Hearty good wishes" the lodge vvas then closed . The brethren afterwards embarked on a steam-launchkindly placed at their disposal by Bro . A . Rostovitz Beyand proceeded by the river Nile to the " Barrage , " partaking on the way of a capital cold lunch , which was

followed by the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . On arrival at the " Barrage" the brethren went ashore and inspected the extensive and interesting works and repairs now in progress . Ihe return journey was agreeably enlivened by vocal and instrumental music , Cairo being reached about 8 p . m ., and a very pleasant and enjoyable trip thus came to an end only too soon , one and all having enjoyed themselves thoroughly .

The ceremony of consecrating the above lodge tool ; place at the new Masonic Hall , Cairo , on Thursday , the 29 th ult . It was rendered specially interesting from the fact that this is the first Royal Ark Mariners Lod ge ever established in Egypt . The following brethren vvere present : Bros . Captain G . Bro . A . Mortimer vvas unanimously elected Treasurer , and duly invested with the collar of that office . With " Hearty good wishes" the lodge vvas then closed . The brethren afterwards embarked on a steam-launchkindly placed at their disposal by Bro . A . Rostovitz Beyand proceeded by the river Nile to the " Barrage , " partaking on the way of a capital cold lunch , which was

followed by the usual loyal and Masonic toasts . On arrival at the " Barrage" the brethren went ashore and inspected the extensive and interesting works and repairs now in progress . Ihe return journey was agreeably enlivened by vocal and instrumental music , Cairo being reached about 8 p . m ., and a very pleasant and enjoyable trip thus came to an end only too soon , one and all having enjoyed themselves thoroughly .
