The Egyptian troops commanded by Colonel H . Smith , and led by British officers , inflicted a severe defeat on the dervishes led by Osman Digna , at Tokar , on the 19 th inst . The loss of the enemy is estimated at about 1000 killed , all the principal emirs , while the casualties among the Egyptians
were 6 S killed and wounded , among them being one British officer killed and one wounded . Tokar was occupied and subsequently Alafite , while Osman Digna has Hed with about 30 horsemen in attendance . Since the battle many of the Arab leaders have made their submission to the authorities .
