BRO . WILLIAM HOLMES .
We regret to record the death of Bro . William Holmes , of the Earl of Zetland Lodge , No . 13 6 4 , vvhich took place at his residence , St . Thomas ' s-road , Hackney , on Thursday , the 18 th inst ., after a protracted and painful illness borne with wonderful resignation and fortitude up to the very last , for within a few
hours of his death he attended some of the many societies in the parish with which he was connected . The deceased for many years successfully extended and carried on the business of the Frampton Park Nurseries ; vvas Secretary of the National Chrysanthemum Society of England , and so late as Friday last , the 12 th inst .,
he attended to his duties at the Royal Aquarium . He was an active member of all the societies—charitable , parochial , and political—in the neighbourhood , and for many years a staunch supporter of St . Luke ' s Church , Chatham-place , where he was a hard and willing worker ,
always to the front with floral decorations on all festive occasions ; for many years he acted as sidesman , in which capacity he acted so recently as Sunday previous to his death . Our deceased brother was a good Mason and a genial companion ; he leaves a widow and six children to mourn their irreparable loss .
