After the lodge was closed , the brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet provided in the Town Hall by Mrs . A . Maskill , the newly-installed W . M . presiding . After the dinner the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were
received with enthusiasm . "The Health of the P . G . M . of W . Yorkshire" was received with great enthusiasm , and was eloquently replied to . Bro . Clarke , P . P . G . R ., responded on behalf of the Provincial Grand Lodge . Bro . Staniland proposed "The Health of the new W . M ., " and referred to the fact that he and the W . M . had been
brought up in the same office at Thorne , and had been firm friends during life . If the new W . M . threw into his Masonic work as much energy as he did into his professional duties , the interests of the Thorne lodge were safe . Bro . Peace , W . M ., suitably and feelingly replied . They had formed the Lodge of St . Nicholas at Thorne in no spirit of rivalry to their neighbours , but simply because they
felt that it was very inconvenient at all times of the year to have to drive a considerable distance to attend to lodg e duties . Peace , goodwill , and harmony had reigned supreme in their lodge at Thorne during its first year , and he hoped this state of things would continue . Bro . Kenyon , J . D ., proposed "The I . P . satisfactory a state at the end of its first year ' s working , and at the fact that the initiates of the year included the vicar of Thorne .
P . M ., Bro . Capt . Dove , " and the toast was briefly replied to .
