1 he usual routine business was gone through , after which Bro . N . D . Fracis , S . W ., was presented by the 1 . P . M ., and regularly installed by Bro . John Read into the chair of K . S . This installation should have taken place at the December meeting of last year , but consequent upon the absence of Bro . Fracis , who was in India at that time , it was necessarily deferred until his return . The addresses having been given ,

the W . M . appointed Bros . S . Hague , M . D ., as S . W . ; Quicke , J . W . ; and invested Bros . H . Palmer , P . M ., as Treas . ; Thos . Poore , P . M ., as Sec ; Granville , S . had performed the duties of Installing Master on the present occasion , also during the 19 months he has occupied the chair as W . M . ; this being carried . Bro . Read , in returning thanks , congratulated the W . M . on his safe return from India , and the great pleasure it afforded him and all the members of the lodge that Bro . Bros . Forester and Rushforth were passed to the Second Degree by the W . M ., the charge being delivered by the S . W ., Bro . T . Robinson . After fraternal greetings from the visiting brethren , a resolution was proposed by Bro . E . V . Greatbatch , P . M ., P . P . G . Supt . Wks ., and seconded by Bro . Tunniclirf , I . P . M ., that the sum of 50 guineas be subscribed to the

Royal Masonic Institution for Boys out of the proceeds of the conversazione held in February last . The proposer and seconder referred to the fact that they had taken an active part in assisting to bring about , and producing evidence before , the recent Committee of Inquiry into the management of the Boys' School , and they hoped and believed that nothing but good to the Institution would result from that Inquiry . They had now the greatest possible pleasure in

asking the lodge to strengthen the hands of the Provisional Committee by a handsome subscription to the funds . Some discussion took place as to the desirability of increasing the amount to such a sum as would constitute the lodge a Vice-Patron , but ultimately the resolution was carried , the hope being held out that at an early date funds would be forthcoming to enrol the lodge amongst the list of Vice-Patrons .

The P . G . M . then complimented the W . M . and officers upon the excellent manner in which , not only the two passings , but the entire business of the lodge had been conducted . It left little , very little , indeed , further to be desired . He had found every officer at his post , and well up in his duties , which gave him very great pleasure . He also expressed his gratification at seeing - the resolution carried with respect to

the grant to tbe Boys' School , showing as it did the truly Masonic spirit of the brethren . Some , possibly most , of the members of the lodge thought that some improvement might be made in the management of the Institution ; but , at the same time , they were not withholding their pecuniary aid . They recognised the fact that the boys were there , and must be provided for . He was truly glad that a Staffordshire

lodge was acting so nobly in the matter , and he doubted not that the action of the Menturia Lodg e would carry influence even beyond the borders of his own province . Col . Gough then referred in eulogistic terms to a paper on voting " in lodges ( as to candidates ) , which was read by Bro . Greatbatch before the members of the lodge recently , a printed

copy of which he had received . He thoroughly endorsed the principles suggested in the paper , and he thought it a most useful and commendable contribution . He apologised for having to leave the lodge before it was closed , but was compelled to do so in order to catch a train . After the departure of the P . G . M ., the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to light refreshment in the anteroom . KINGSTON-ON-THAMES . Brownrigg Lodge ( No . 1638 ) . —On Wednesday , the 17 th inst ., theW . M ., Bro . H . W . Humphreys , opened the lodge without the aid of his principal officers , and with but one of his assistant officers . Such a state of affairs is without precedent in the annals of the Brownri gg Lodge , and on this occasion was brought about only by

unforeseen and equally uncontrollable circumstances . It speaks well , however , for the future of the lodge , to be able to say that with the I . P . M ., Bro . Geo . Moorman , in the S . W . ' s chair , and Bros . Butz , Pennington , and J . H . Sumner in the offices next below in order , the ceremony of the Third Degree was admirably performed , and at that period the S . W ., Bro . W . Drewett , arrived , and took his own place . The Sublime Degree was conferred upon Bros . Massey and

Band in a very impressive manner , and then the W . M . passed Bros . Wittaker and Fortescue to the F . C . Degree . The ballot was then resorted to , and Bro . J . E . Swanson , S . W . 700 , was elected a joining member by an unanimous vote , and in like manner it was decreed that Messrs . Mann and Heaton were fit and proper persons to be admitted into the Craft . The ceremony of initiation was also correctl y gone through , and the W . M . and brethren adjourned to refreshment .

LIVERPOOL . Everton Lodge ( No . 823 ) . —This influential lodge , which at one time held its meetings in Everton itself , assembled on the 17 th inst . in very strong force at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , to instal the W . M . elect , Bro . R . S . Milne , S . W . The lodge has become a very strong one during the past 12 or 14 years , and many well-known

local men of standing still keep up their connection with it , the annual assembly being always looked forward to with interest by Masons in the city . The chair was taken by Bro . W . Maddox , W . R ., and W . J . Lunt , P . P . G . T . ; and

when the ceremony was completed , the following officers were invested : Bros . William Maddox , I . P . M . ; R . T . Britten , S . W . ; John Mantle , J . W . ; Councillor W . J . Lunt , P . P . brethren , and during the evening a valuable P . M . ' s jewel was presented to the I . P . M . on behalf of the lodge , and it was accompanied by a full suit of regalia . _ A well-executed musical programme conduced to the enjoyment of the brethren .

M 1 LFORD HAVEN . St . David's Lodge ( No . 3 66 ) . —A special meeting of the above lodge was held on Tuesday , the 16 th inst ., to receive the D . P . G . M ., Bro . the Rev . J . W . Lyte Stradling . After the lodge was opened , the Prov . Grand

M . into the lodge room , and , after son " formal business was gone through , he assumed ' the chi ¦ and delivered an excellent address to the assembled b ' , "' thren , dwelling strongly on the importance of care aiH wisdom in the admission of candidates , pointing out that large number of members is not to be considered the chitf desideratumbut the character of

After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Health of the D . P . G . M . " was most cordially and affectionately received . ' The D . P . G . M . returned thanks in his usual genial and thoroughly fraternal manner , speaking of the pleasure it gave him to be thus complimented by ' his own lod ge—tlK premier lodge of the province .

Ihe toasts of "The W . M ., " "The Officers , " and " The Visitors " having been done full justice to , Bro . Cooper was permitted by the W . M . to propose " The Health and Prosperity of St . David ' s Lodge , " coupling with the toast the name of Bro . Dr . G . Griffith , P . P . S . G . W ., the father of the lodge , its senior member and senior P . M . It would be impossible to over-estimate the value to the

lodge , the province , and , indeed , the Order generally , of a re-union such as this . Bro . Stradling has endeared himself to the brethren over whom he is second in command , and the province is , indeed , fortunate to have a brother as D . P . G . M . who so thoroughly identifies himself with the welfare of each lodge and , we may say , of each individual Mason in his district , setting them himself an excellent example as a true Mason .

The-lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . A few toasts were given , and a most agreeable evening spent , thanks to the vocal abilities of several of the brethren . HAMPTON COURT . Cama Lodge ( No . 2105 ) . —A meeting was held on Monday , the 22 nd inst ., at the Mitre Hotel . Present : Bros . John Read , P . P . G . Org ., W . M . ; N . D . Fracis , S . W . ; S . Hague , M . D ., J . W . ; W . R . Palmer , P . M ., Treas . ; Thos . Poore , P . M ., Sec ; Manlove , as I . G . ; Harrison , Tyler ; Postans , P . M ., P . Z ., & c ; Norrington , Cole , Peck , Quicke , and Granville .

D . ; Postans , Stwd . ; and Harrison , Tyler . A discussion to determine the dates for future meetings was gone into , after which a warm and cordial vote of thanks was proposed by the W . M ., seconded by the S . W ., and g iven to the I . P . M ., Bro . John Read , for the able and satisfactory manner he

had performed the duties of Installing Master on the present occasion , also during the 19 months he has occupied the chair as W . M . ; this being carried . Bro . Read , in returning thanks , congratulated the W . M . on his safe return from India , and the great pleasure it afforded him and all the members of the lodge that Bro . Fracis was now installed as W . M . of the Cama Lodge . Bro . Read concluded by sincerely wishing him and the lodge every success during his tenure of office , and warmly thanked the W . M ., S . W ., and brethren for the vote so kindly put and heartily carried .

HANLEV . Menturia Lodge ( No . 418 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held on Tuesday , the iGth inst ., the W . M ., Bro . H . Windle , in the chair , and for a summer meeting there was a good attendance of the members , between 30 and 40 being present . The lodge was
