Henry Babington Smith , private secretary to the Viceroy , were married at Christ Church , Simla , on Thursday afternoon . The Bishop of Lahore , assisted by the Rev . M . C . Sanders , Chaplain of Simla , officiated , and the bride was given away by her father . The church , which was crowded , was tastefully decorated . Among the bridesmaids were the Ladies Christian and Veronica Bruce , sisters of the bride , and Capt . S . H . Pollen , aide-de-camp to the Viceroy , was best man . After the ceremony the newly-married couple were escorted to the Viceregal Lodge by a troop of Punjab Light Horse Volunteers , and a largely-attended reception was then held by Lady Elgin ,
THE QUEEN , with their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales , Princess Henry of Battenberg , Princess Victoria of Wales , her Highness Princess Aribert of Anhalt , and the Hereditary Prince and Princess of Leinihgen , were present on Saturday morning last at a memorial service for her deeply-lamented Imperial Majesty the Empress ot Austria , in Cralhie parish church , conducted by the Rev . The service commenced with the playing of the Austrian National Anthem and ended with Beethoven's Funeral March .
THE HURRICANE IN THE WEST INDIES . DONATIONS FROM THE QUBEN AND H . R . H . THE PRINCE OF WALES . Down to Wednesday evening the Mansion House Fund for the relief of the sufferers by the terrible hurricane in the West Indies , amounted to £ Sooo , of which £ 5000 was on Wednesday remitted by telegram to the distressed Colonies , , £ 2000 being sent to the Governor of Barbados , and £ 3000 to the Governor of the Windward Islands for the sufferers in St . Vincent and St . Lucia . The Lord Mayor received during the day the following letter from the Keeper of the Privy Purse :
" Balmoral Castle , 20 th Sept ., 1 S 9 S . " Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Fleetwood Edwards presents his compliments to the Lord Mayor , and begs to enclose , by command of the Queen , a cheque for £ 250 , as a donation from her Majesty to the Wesi Indian Hurricane Fund . " His lordship also had the following communication from the Comptroller to the Prince of Wales :
"Sandringham , September 20 th . " My Lord , —I have this day received instructions from the Prince of Wales to bend your lordship a cheque for 100 guineas as a donation from his Royal Highness towards the fund which the Prince desires me to say he is very glad to see you are raising ai the Mansion House for the relief of the sufferers by the recent hurricane in the West Indies .
