GEORGE STRATHERN 53 , Waterloo Street , Glasgow . ARCHITECT . J . L . COWAN , LA ., 136 , Wellington Street , Glasgow . OFFICES—212 , WEST GEORGE STREET , Glasgow . ABRIDGED PROSPECTUS . It has long been recognised as not creditable to Freemasonry that in a city of the importance of Glasgow there should be no hall , constructed in accordance with the necessary requirements capable of providing adequate accommodation for important gatherings of the Craft . Moreover , it is admitted on all hands that the Lodge rooms presently existing throughout the city are in many respects unsatisfactory . In these circumstances it has been resolved that a strong effort should be made to erect a Masonic Hall worthy of the Province , and the Company has been formed for this purpose . An eligible site has been acquired by the purchase of Nos . 9 S and 100 West Regent-street , and the ground behind Nos . 102 and 104 , at an exceptionally low price . The subjects are bounded on the east by a Jane , and have thus special facilities of access and egress . The extent of the ground is 677 2-3 square yards . It is proposed that the projected buildings should contain —( 1 ) a Large Hall , 65 feet long by 40 feet wide , capable of accommodating an audience of 450 , with cloak-room and kitchen accommodation ; ( 2 ) Two Lodge Rooms , with adjacents ; ( 3 ) Offices and Business Premises . Additional Lodge Room accommodation can be provided if required . The Large Hall and Lodge Rooms when not required for Masonic purposes will be available for public meetings of all kinds during the day and evening . The architect estimates that the cost of erection should not exceed £ 11 , 000 , which , when added to the price of the ground and cost of furnishing , will show a total expenditure of about £ 16 , 000 . The estimated revenue gives a probable return of 5 per cent , on this sum . Prospectuses , with Sketch of Buildings and Forms of Application for Shares , may be obtained from the Company ' s Bankers , Solicitors , or Secretaries .
