Fletcher svas initiated into ancient freemasonry by VV . Bro . Fountain . The most interesting part of the business svas , of course , the installation of Bro . James Hiscox , S . W ., into the chair of King Solomon , svhich ss'as performed by Bros . Woodrosv and Barrell in the manner svith svhich the southern part of the Province of Lincolnshire is familiar svhen undertaken by these brethren . " Hearty good svishes" svere tendered by the visitors , and the lodge svas

closed by the VV . M ., svho assumes the chairunder unusally promising auspices . The brethren then adjourned to the Iosver hall , svhere a sumptuous banquet svas provided , under the presidency of the nesv VV . M . This lodge seemed to have solved a very knotty question in connection svith the necessary lodge refreshment . Being in possession of its osvn hall , svith ample

retiring rooms and a thoroughly furnished kitchen , refreshments are undertaken by the Stesvard on behalf of the lodge , and on this occasion an excellent spread of eight courses , svith svine of the choicest kind , and supplied " ad libitum , " svas provided at a cost of five shillings per head . The usual loyal and Alasonic toasts svere dul y honoured , and pleasure and profit svere the result of a long and successful meeting . .

The installation svas marked in a particular manner by a very interesting ceremony , svhich has never before taken place in the lodge . Bro . A . H . Crossley , the W . M ., presented to the lodge for the future use of the W . M . a chain of solid silver , svhich is of handsome massive appearance ,

and a most elegant and artistic piece of svorkmanship . It is composed of shields and monograms placed alternately . The monogram " L . L . " is introduced in the circles in tsvo different designs . To the Iosver part of the chain is suspended the badge . 'The Lindsay armorial bearings form the centre of the face of the badge , and , being finished in various colours of enamelling , the effect is very pretty . The

inscription " Lindsay Lodge , No . 1335 , constituted 1 S 70 , " is svorked in solid letters around the outer edge of the badge , and the chain is affixed to a broad ribbon of blue tsvill silk . On the reverse of the badge the follosving inscription is engraved : " Presented to the Lindsay Lodge , No . 1335 , by Bro . A . H . Crossley , W . M ., January 7 th , 1 SS 5 . " The future Worshipful Masters of this lodge will

no doubt be grateful to Bro . Crossley for his very handsome gift svhen year after year they come to be invested svith this badge of office . The chain , svhich sveighs 20 ozs ., svas supplied by Alessrs . Alonk Brothers , of Bolton . The chains presented by Bros . VV . Johnson , S . W ., and R . 13 . Seddon , J . W . M . elect , Bro . Councillor A . H . Crossley , was duly presented and installed as W . AL for the ensuing year . The brethren svere highly delighted svith the admirable manner in svhich the Installing Master , Bro . W . Goodacre , discharged his duties , thus shosving that his selection by the Prov . Grand Alaster , the Earl of Lathom , svas a good one , as the svorthy brother is thoroughly conversant svith every

detail of the important office svhich he holds as Provincial Grand Secretary of West Lancashire . The officers appointed for the ensuing year are Bros . H . T . Byrom , I . P . M . ; W . Johnson , S . VV . ; R . B . Seddon , J . W . ; J . D . Murray , P . M ., Treas . ; G . L . Campbell , P . M ., D . C . ; C D . Mortimer , P . P . G . Org . Berks and Bucks , Org . ; J . Brosvne , Sec ; H . Bouchier , S . D . ; H . Riddlessvorth ,

The installation svas marked in a particular manner by a very interesting ceremony , svhich has never before taken place in the lodge . Bro . A . H . Crossley , the W . M ., presented to the lodge for the future use of the W . M . a chain of solid silver , svhich is of handsome massive appearance ,

and a most elegant and artistic piece of svorkmanship . It is composed of shields and monograms placed alternately . The monogram " L . L . " is introduced in the circles in tsvo different designs . To the Iosver part of the chain is suspended the badge . 'The Lindsay armorial bearings form the centre of the face of the badge , and , being finished in various colours of enamelling , the effect is very pretty . The

inscription " Lindsay Lodge , No . 1335 , constituted 1 S 70 , " is svorked in solid letters around the outer edge of the badge , and the chain is affixed to a broad ribbon of blue tsvill silk . On the reverse of the badge the follosving inscription is engraved : " Presented to the Lindsay Lodge , No . 1335 , by Bro . A . H . Crossley , W . M ., January 7 th , 1 SS 5 . " The future Worshipful Masters of this lodge will

no doubt be grateful to Bro . Crossley for his very handsome gift svhen year after year they come to be invested svith this badge of office . The chain , svhich sveighs 20 ozs ., svas supplied by Alessrs . Alonk Brothers , of Bolton . The chains presented by Bros . VV . Johnson , S . W ., and R . 13 . Seddon , J . W ., are very handsome specimens of svorkmanship , and are suitably engraved , the one being for the future use of the S . VV ., and the other for that of the J . W .

These werc manufactured by Bro . George Kenning . The brethren svith their numerous visitors aftersvards adjourned to the Victoria Restaurant , svhere a sumptuous banquet svas served by Miss Cooper , whose catering svas full y appreciated by all present . The after proceedings took place in the lodge room , svhere desert svas served , under the able presidency of the nesvly-installed W . M ., and a most enjoyable evening svas spent by all .
