The officers' jewels , which were of solid silver , of unique pattern , were , with the collars , the gift of the W . M ., Bro . Col . Starkie . Each of the founders wore a jewel of exquisite workmanship , and all the above were specially designed and manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , of 47 , Bridgestreet , Manchester , and London . CONSECRATION OF THE HORWICH LODGE , No . 2324 , AT HORWICH , BOLTON .

The consecration of the above lodge took place on Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., at the Public Hall . The ceremony was performed by Bro . William Goodacre , P . G . S . B . Eng ., Prov . G . Sec , assisted by Bros . J . J . Lambert , P . P . G . Reg ., S . W . ; John Slyman , P . P . G . D ., J . W . ; Ralph Betley , P . A . G . S . ; William Webster , P . G . D . ; Richard Walker , P . G . D . ; and J . D . Murray , P . P . G . D . C , D . C . The brethren having assembled in the lodge room , the Consecrating Officer , vvith his assistant officers , entered in procession , when the Presiding Officer took the chair . The lodge was opened in the Three Degrees .

The PRESIDING OFFICER addressed the brethren in regard to the object for vvhich they had met together , and the CHAPLAIN , by his direction , offered up

prayer . The D . of C addressed the Consecrating Officer , ' and , by his direction , arranged the founders of tne new lodge in order , and then read the petition and warrant , which had been granted by the M . WG . M ., authorising the formation of the Horwich Lodge in answer to the prayer of the petition , and designating Bro . John Rogers , P . M ., W . M . ; Bro . G . H . Whitaker , S . W . ; and Bro . R . H . Thornton , J-W .

The CONSECRATING OFFICER then enquired of the brethren ranged before him whether they approved of the officers named in the warrant , and the brethren having signified their approval , the CHAPLAIN , at the request of the Presiding Officer , gave an oration on the leading principles upon vvhich the Craft is founded .

The Presiding Officer proceeded to dedicate and constitute the lodge , and the ceremony was brought to a close with the final benediction . Bro . John Rogers , P . M ., W . M . designate , was then presented to the Installing Master by Bro . J . D . Murray , P . P . G . D . C . After the usual formula , a Board of Installed Masters having been constituted , Bro . Rogers vvas duly installed jn the chair of K . S .

The working tools in each Degree were presented by Bro . J . J . Lambert , P . P . G . Reg . The INSTALLING MASTER presented the W . M . vvith the warrant and Book of Constitutions , and also gave addresses to the W . M ., Wardens , & c . Bro . Seyland Eccles , P . M ., vvas appointed Charity Representative for the ensuing year . There were eight candidates proposed for initiation .

Each officer having presented his collar and jewel of office , each with a suitable inscription , a unanimous vote of thanks was passed to those brethren forthe handsome gift , and that such be recorded on the minutes . The whole consecration and installation ceremonies were performed by Bro . Goodacre in a masterly style , and all vvho witnessed it could not fail to be deeply impressed . PROVINCIAL GRAND CHAPTER OF OXFORDSHIRE .

The annual meeting of the Prov i ncial Grand Chapter of Oxfordshire vvas held on Tuesday , the 12 th inst ., in the Apollo ( University ; Lodge Room , under the presidency of the Grand Superintendent of the province , Comp . the Rev . H . Adair Pickard . The attendance of companions was very good . The rolls of the various chapters in the province and of the officers having been called , the minutes of the last Provincial Grand Chapter were read and confirmed

Comp . WINKFIELD , Prov . Grand H ., then made his report on the chapters of the province . The GRAND SUPERINTENDENT proposed a vote of £$ 5 s . to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , which was cordially agreed to . The Prov . Grand Treasurer ' s report was received and adopted .

CONSECRATION OF THE HORWICH LODGE , No . 2324 , AT HORWICH , BOLTON .

The consecration of the above lodge took place on Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., at the Public Hall . The ceremony was performed by Bro . William Goodacre , P . G . S . B . Eng ., Prov . G . Sec , assisted by Bros . J . J . Lambert , P . P . G . Reg ., S . W . ; John Slyman , P . P . G . D ., J . W . ; Ralph Betley , P . A . G . S . ; William Webster , P . G . D . ; Richard Walker , P . G . D . ; and J . D . Murray , P . P . G . D . C , D . C . The brethren having assembled in the lodge room , the Consecrating Officer , vvith his assistant officers , entered in procession , when the Presiding Officer took the chair . The lodge was opened in the Three Degrees .

The PRESIDING OFFICER addressed the brethren in regard to the object for vvhich they had met together , and the CHAPLAIN , by his direction , offered up

prayer . The D . of C addressed the Consecrating Officer , ' and , by his direction , arranged the founders of tne new lodge in order , and then read the petition and warrant , which had been granted by the M . WG . M ., authorising the formation of the Horwich Lodge in answer to the prayer of the petition , and designating Bro . John Rogers , P . M ., W . M . ; Bro . G . H . Whitaker , S . W . ; and Bro . R . H . Thornton , J-W .

The CONSECRATING OFFICER then enquired of the brethren ranged before him whether they approved of the officers named in the warrant , and the brethren having signified their approval , the CHAPLAIN , at the request of the Presiding Officer , gave an oration on the leading principles upon vvhich the Craft is founded .

The Presiding Officer proceeded to dedicate and constitute the lodge , and the ceremony was brought to a close with the final benediction . Bro . John Rogers , P . M ., W . M . designate , was then presented to the Installing Master by Bro . J . D . Murray , P . P . G . D . C . After the usual formula , a Board of Installed Masters having been constituted , Bro . Rogers vvas duly installed jn the chair of K . S .

There were eight candidates proposed for initiation .

Each officer having presented his collar and jewel of office , each with a suitable inscription , a unanimous vote of thanks was passed to those brethren forthe handsome gift , and that such be recorded on the minutes . The whole consecration and installation ceremonies were performed by Bro . Goodacre in a masterly style , and all vvho witnessed it could not fail to be deeply impressed . The annual meeting of the Prov i ncial Grand Chapter of Oxfordshire vvas held on Tuesday , the 12 th inst ., in the Apollo ( University ; Lodge Room , under the presidency of the Grand Superintendent of the province , Comp . the Rev .
