agenda paper for next Quarterly Communication vvas read to the brethren . Before the Board was closed , Bro . J AMES BRETT , S . V . P ., proposed a vote of thanks to the President for the able manner in vvhich he had presided over the Board during the past year . He said he thought the brethren
would not be discharging their duty if they did not take that opportunity of recognising Bro . Grey ' s ability and geniality , not onl y during the past year , but ever since he had been President of the Board , besides his kind and considerate behaviour towards every member of the Board , and every petitioner that came before it . He also moved that the vote be entered on the minutes .
Bro . COTTEBRUNE , J . V . P ., seconded the motion . Bro . ROBERT GREY , President , returned his heart y thanks , and assured the brethren that he had only endeavoured to do his duty . He had been so ably supported by the other members of the Board that it was a pleasure to work vvith them in their great and noble cause .
The Board of Benovelence was then opened , and the brethren first confirmed recommendations to the Grand Master , made at the October meeting , to the amount of ^ 290 . The new list contained the names of 38 petitioners , whose qualifications were through lodges in the London district , at Luton , Hong Kong ,
Stalybridge , Exeter , Manchester , Newport ( Monmouth ) , Calcutta , Mottram , Southend , Whitehaven , Truro , Liverpool , Jersey , Malta , Gosport , Newcastle-on-Tyne , Jhansi , Cawnpore , Egutpoorah , and Halifax . Two of the cases vvere dismissed , as not coming within the rules of the Board , and five were deferred , not being
complete . The remainder were relieved with a total sum of ^ 805 . This amount was made up of one recommendation to Grand Lodge of ^ 200 , and two recommendations of £$ 0 each ; two recommendations to the Grand Master of . £ 40 each , and three of £ 30 each . There vvere 11 grants of . £ 20 each , one of £ 15 , nine of ^ 10 each , and two of ^ 5 each .

The Treasurer of the Provincial Grand Lodge Benevolent Fund gave in his report , and announced that during the quarter ending October 31 st the Benevolent Fund Committee had granted in all £ 61 us . the meeting of Grand Lodge on Thursday , the 7 th inst ., and hoped all the members present would be in their places to assist in transacting the important business that vvould be brought before Grand Lodge . A motion was carried that at the next regular
meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge a sum of money be granted for the relief of the sufferers from the recent sad calamity at Templeton ' s Mills , whereby 29 girls lost their lives , and a number were severely injured . Two other notices of motions were also handed in after which the Provincial Grand Lodge was closed .

LEEDS MASONIC RELIEF FUND .
The annual meeting of this fund vvas held on Thursday , the 14 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . Allinson , P . M ., P . P . G . D ., at the Masonic Hall , Great George-street , Leeds . The other brethren present included Bros . Robert Craig , P . M ., P . P . G . D . ; Trevor ,
P . M . ; Rickard , P . M . ; Fretwell , S . W . ; Smith , W . M . ; and Robert Lucas , the Secretary . Bro . Rickard presented the annual report to the following effect : — " We have much pleasure in presenting you vvith the Annual Report of the Leeds Local Relief Fund . The year closed on the 31 st day
of October , when the books were duly audited , found correct , and signed . It vvill be knovvn to you that two years since it was recommended that all cash in the hands of the Almoner at the close of the financial year should be repaid to the Treasurer , and the books balanced accordingly . This has been done , and vve
think , with good results . During the year 66 persons have applied for assistance , 44 vvere considered worth y and relieved . In some instances vve noticed , vvith satisfaction that the Almoner has consulted the President , Treasurer , and members of the Committee , and on one occasion the Committee met to consider a peculiar case
vvhich had arisen . The relief from November , 1888 ,. to October , 188 9 , included 44 persons , of whom 20 were under the English Constitution , 9 under the Scotch , 4 under the Irish , and 11 under foreign Constitutions . The total amount of relief distributed during that time was £ g 12 s . 3-id ., giving an average per case of 4 s . 4 . Vd .
It is worth y of notice that during the last nine years 30 applicants more than in the previous 10 years have been relieved with a decreased expenditure of £ 164 . 5 . 4 d . There is a small amount of 19 s . 2 "* -d . due to the Treasurer ; a call on each lodge of is . per member is necessary . This amount , in all probability vvill suffice

agenda paper for next Quarterly Communication vvas read to the brethren . Before the Board was closed , Bro . J AMES BRETT , S . V . P ., proposed a vote of thanks to the President for the able manner in vvhich he had presided over the Board during the past year . He said he thought the brethren
would not be discharging their duty if they did not take that opportunity of recognising Bro . Grey ' s ability and geniality , not onl y during the past year , but ever since he had been President of the Board , besides his kind and considerate behaviour towards every member of the Board , and every petitioner that came before it . He also moved that the vote be entered on the minutes .
Bro . COTTEBRUNE , J . V . P ., seconded the motion . Bro . ROBERT GREY , President , returned his heart y thanks , and assured the brethren that he had only endeavoured to do his duty . He had been so ably supported by the other members of the Board that it was a pleasure to work vvith them in their great and noble cause .
The Board of Benovelence was then opened , and the brethren first confirmed recommendations to the Grand Master , made at the October meeting , to the amount of ^ 290 . The new list contained the names of 38 petitioners , whose qualifications were through lodges in the London district , at Luton , Hong Kong ,
Stalybridge , Exeter , Manchester , Newport ( Monmouth ) , Calcutta , Mottram , Southend , Whitehaven , Truro , Liverpool , Jersey , Malta , Gosport , Newcastle-on-Tyne , Jhansi , Cawnpore , Egutpoorah , and Halifax . Two of the cases vvere dismissed , as not coming within the rules of the Board , and five were deferred , not being
complete . The remainder were relieved with a total sum of ^ 805 . This amount was made up of one recommendation to Grand Lodge of ^ 200 , and two recommendations of £$ 0 each ; two recommendations to the Grand Master of . £ 40 each , and three of £ 30 each . There vvere 11 grants of . £ 20 each , one of £ 15 , nine of ^ 10 each , and two of ^ 5 each .

The quarterlycommunication of the above Provincial Grand Lodge vvas held in the St . Mark ' s HaU , 213 , Buchanan-street , Glasgow , on Tuesday evening , the 5 th inst . Bro . James Boyd , S . P . G . M ., occupied the throne , while Bros . J . M . Oliver and Colin Galletl y filled the Senior and Junior Wardens' chairs respectively . After the minutes of the previous communication had
been read and approved , the P . G . S . intimated apologies from , among others , the P . G . M ., Bro . John Graham , and Bro . J . Dalrymple Duncan , R . W . M . 607 . The Treasurer of the Provincial Grand Lodge Benevolent Fund gave in his report , and announced that during the quarter ending October 31 st the Benevolent Fund Committee had granted in all £ 61 us . The nomination and election of office bearers was

Bro . ; T . Halket vvas elected Treasurer of the Bene , volent Fund , and Bro . Andrew M . Smith , President of Stewards . The Auditors elected vvere Bros . J . Kelso Hunter T . F . Hunter , and C . Petrie . The ACTING P . G . M . called the brethren ' s attention to
the meeting of Grand Lodge on Thursday , the 7 th inst ., and hoped all the members present would be in their places to assist in transacting the important business that vvould be brought before Grand Lodge . A motion was carried that at the next regular
meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge a sum of money be granted for the relief of the sufferers from the recent sad calamity at Templeton ' s Mills , whereby 29 girls lost their lives , and a number were severely injured . Two other notices of motions were also handed in after which the Provincial Grand Lodge was closed .
Leeds Masonic Relief Fund.
LEEDS MASONIC RELIEF FUND .
The annual meeting of this fund vvas held on Thursday , the 14 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . Allinson , P . M ., P . P . G . D ., at the Masonic Hall , Great George-street , Leeds . The other brethren present included Bros . Robert Craig , P . M ., P . P . G . D . ; Trevor ,
P . M . ; Rickard , P . M . ; Fretwell , S . W . ; Smith , W . M . ; and Robert Lucas , the Secretary . Bro . Rickard presented the annual report to the following effect : — " We have much pleasure in presenting you vvith the Annual Report of the Leeds Local Relief Fund . The year closed on the 31 st day
of October , when the books were duly audited , found correct , and signed . It vvill be knovvn to you that two years since it was recommended that all cash in the hands of the Almoner at the close of the financial year should be repaid to the Treasurer , and the books balanced accordingly . This has been done , and vve
think , with good results . During the year 66 persons have applied for assistance , 44 vvere considered worth y and relieved . In some instances vve noticed , vvith satisfaction that the Almoner has consulted the President , Treasurer , and members of the Committee , and on one occasion the Committee met to consider a peculiar case
vvhich had arisen . The relief from November , 1888 ,. to October , 188 9 , included 44 persons , of whom 20 were under the English Constitution , 9 under the Scotch , 4 under the Irish , and 11 under foreign Constitutions . The total amount of relief distributed during that time was £ g 12 s . 3-id ., giving an average per case of 4 s . 4 . Vd .
It is worth y of notice that during the last nine years 30 applicants more than in the previous 10 years have been relieved with a decreased expenditure of £ 164 . 5 . 4 d . There is a small amount of 19 s . 2 "* -d . due to the Treasurer ; a call on each lodge of is . per member is necessary . This amount , in all probability vvill suffice

A concert in aid of the Masonic Charities was given at the Eccles Town Hall , on Friday evening , the Sth inst ., under the auspices of the Worsley Lodge , 1814 ( Bro . W . A . Rothwell , W . M . ) , under the distinguished patronage of Bros , the Right Hon . Lord Lathom , Prov . G . M . West Lancashire ; Ri ght Hon . Lord Ellesmere , first W . M . of 1814 ; Right Hon . the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres , D . P . G . M . West Lancashire ; and the Earl of
Mulgrave , Chap . 1814 . The weather was not propitious , but despite that there was a fair attendance , and the concert was a most enjoyable one . The artistes were Miss Bessie Hold , Miss Jessie Whitehead , Bros . W . Dumville , P . M ., P . Z * , P . P . G . O . East Lancashire ; A . Levvtas , P . M . ; and J .
