NEW CONCORD CHAPTER ( No . 813 ) . — The usual convocation of this chapter was held on Thursday , the 14 th inst ., at the Guildhall Tavern . There was a good attendance of members , and a few visitors were also present . This being- the installation meeting , Comp . S . George , P . M ., was installed into the chair of Z .: Comp . R . R . Harper , P . M ., into the chair of H . ; and Comp . A .

J . Potter , P . M ., into the chair of J . The other officers who were invested were Comps . W . Pierpoint , P . M ., I . P . Z . ; L . C . Haslip , P . M ., S . N . ; H . J . Gabb , P . M ., P . Z ., S . E . ; J . Stilwell , P . M ., Treas . ; H . Cope , P . S . ; C . Weeden , W . M ., ist A . S . ; C . R . Cordell , 2 nd A . S . Comp . Lieut .-Col . Radcliffe , P . At the banquet that followed the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly given and honoured . KENNINGTON CHAPTER ( No . 1381 ) . —This prosperous chapter met at the London Bridge Hotel on the 7 th inst ., when there were present Comps . Appleton , M . E . Z . ; Ayling , H . ; H . J . Everett proposed a vote of condolence to the family of the late Comp . VV . Mann , P . Z ., and a founder of No . 13 S 1 , which was duly seconded , and carried unanimously . The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to the banquet , at which the M . E . Z . presided most ably and genially . The customary routine of toasts was duly gone through .

WHITEHAVEN . —Sun , Square , and Compasses Chapter ( No . 119 ) . —The quarterly convocation of this chapter was held at the Masonic Hall , on Friday , the Sth inst ., for the purpose of installing the principals and exalting any approved of candidates . The minutes of the former chapter were passed as read , several candidates were balloted for and accepted , and Bro . J . S . Moffatt exalted to the Supreme Degree . Comp . Bewlay then said previous to bidding farewell to the First Principal ' s chair , which he had been permitted to occupy

for the customary 12 months , it had several times been a consideration what would be the best thing to give as a memento of the high honour the companions had conferred upon him in electing him to such a position as First Principal of what might without egotism be considered as the premier chapter of the province . He was glad to say as a chapter their wants were very few

but on looking round he found they had no banner , andit now gave him much pleasure to ask the companions of 119 to accept of one from him . The banner was then uncovered and presented , and pronounced by all present to be faultless . Comp . Barr , P . Z ., P . P . G . H ., Senior Past Principal present , moved in pleasing terms , on behalf of the chapter , that a hearty vote of thanks be

recorded on the minutes to Comp . Bewlay , for his handsome and much required gilt , but a little explanation had to be made if the retiring First Principal made the presentation . The question was , who made the banner ? Well , the companions would be delighted to learn that it was the artistic work of Comp . W . H . Bewlay and the Miss Bewlays , and it now gave him much pleasure to move that their

names be also recorded on the minutes as a testimony of their excellent work . Comp . Barr , P . Z ., P . P . G . During the evening Earl Amherst , in proposing " Success to the Dover Freemasons' Hall , " spoke at great length as to the benefit the Freemasons would derive in having premises of their own for Masonic purposes , and in a very complimentary speech congratulated the Dover companions

upon the acquisition of their new hall . The meeting was greatly enlivened by songs and glees rendered by Comps . VV . O . Kennett , J . Bourdeaux , G . R . Igglesden , and Bros . Winterbon and Higgins . The companions dispersed after a most pleasant evening had been spent .

This was supplemented by the further presentation of a P . Z . ' s apron , sash , and case , which the companions of the chapter had subscribed , to

Z ., in making the presentation , alluded to the valuable aid rendered by their First Princi pal in promoting the formation and subsequent progress of the Ancasta Chapter , and also to the coincidence that , when W . M . of

tne uiausentum Lodge , 1 4 , in 1 S 76 , he had presented to htm a newel , voted by that lodge for services in promoting its foundation , and efforts to obtain the Masonic Hall which they now occupied . for the customary 12 months , it had several times been a consideration what would be the best thing to give as a memento of the high honour the companions had conferred upon him in electing him to such a position as First Principal of what might without egotism be considered as the premier chapter of the province . He was glad to say as a chapter their wants were very few

but on looking round he found they had no banner , andit now gave him much pleasure to ask the companions of 119 to accept of one from him .
