G . P ., Senior Vice-President , and Bro . C . A . Cottebrune , P . G . P ., Junior Vice-President , occupied their respective chairs . Bro . A . A . Pendlebury , Asst . G . Sec , Bro . W . Dodd , and Bro . W .
H . Lee represented Grand Secretary s office . There were also present Bros . Wm . P . Brown , D . D . Mercer , S . Vallentine , C . Dairy , G . B . Chapman , J . Bunker , S . V . Abraham , W . T . Vincent , S . H . Goldschmidt , W . Hopekirk , Rev . J . S . Brownrigg , George R . Langley , T . W . WhHmarsh , Charles J . R . Tijou , E . C . Mulvey , George Coop , W . Medwin , C . L . Pointer , J . Westerby , J . M . Klenck , C . Beaumont , C . H . Bryson , Robert A . Gowan , G . M . E . Hamilton , E . H . Dove , W . H . Lucker , and Henry Sadler , G . Tyler .
After the Board had been formally opened , as this was the meeting for reading the by-laws of the Board , they were , on motion duly made and seconded , taken as read . Bro . ROBERT GRKY , President , said that before entering on their business , he felt that as President of this Board he would be carrying out the wish of its
members if he moved a resolution . That day was one of the saddest days they had ever seen , and was perhaps not an unfitting day for people to pay a tribute of affectionate respect to the memory of one who was gone—Col . Shadwell Henry Clerke , Grand Secretary . This time last month when the Board met , Col . Shadwell Clerke was at his home , then a dying man . He
had shown sufficient proofs of the same energy and pluck with which he had stuck to his duty when he was but a young officer in the army doing his duty to his country and his Queen . He was at his ofiice to the last possible moment doing his duty also with the same untiring devotion to the Craft , and there was no body of Masons who would mourn with more sincere regret for
his death than the members of the Board of Benevolence , and therefore with the consent of the members present he would propose the following resolution : "That the members of this Board desire to record on the minutes an expression of their deep regret at the severe loss they have sustained by the death of Col . Shadwell H . Clerke , the Grand Secretary . His devotion to his
duties , his benevolent disposition , and his untiring efforts to assist his brethren , will be gratefully remembered by every member of the Board of Benevolence . " If it was also the wish of the b . ethren that a copy of this resolution should be sent to Col . Gierke ' s sorrowing widow and family , the sympathy of the brethren might be some small compensation to them .
Bro . J AMES BRETT , P . G . P ., Senior Vice-President , seconded the motion . The motion was carried unanimously . The brethren then confirmed recommendations to the Grand Master , made at last meeting , to the amount of £ S - The new lists contained 32 names of petitioners , who were qualified through lodges in the
London district , Newtown ( Mon . ) , Liverpool , Uitenhage ( S . Africa ) , Dover , Folkestone , Jersey , Hyde ( Cheshire ) , Halifax ( N . S . ) , Aldershot , Shrewsbury , Bath , Uttoxeter , Manchester , Roorkee , Biighton , Burton-on-Trent , and Devonport . Five of these were deferred , and the remainder were relieved with a total
sum of , 6 * 045 . 'There was one recommendation to Grand Lodge for ^ " 100 , and two for £ 50 each . There were two recommendations to the Grand Master for . £ 40 each , and four for , £ 30 each . Seven grants were made of . £ 20 each , two of , £ 15 each , six of . £ 10 each , and three of £ 5 each .
VVe regret to have to announce that Bro . Sir Charles Dilke , Bart ., while on his way to Cinderford to address the electors , was thrown out of his carriage and sustained injury to his face and right arm . He was able , however , after a brief delay , to proceed to the meeting and deliver his address .

This latter is what the Pasiatrensis claims to do . It is not put for icard as a remedy for " every ill that flesh is heir to , " but for the diseases and disagreeables that are herein named , it is fearlessly asserted by the Proprietor to be without an equal . It is the result of long and careful research , and has been before ihe public for upioards of 26 years , and never known it to fail in any single instance . Tt does not blister or irritate , and is most pleasant in its ittsCy and can be used on an infant a month old . o ¦ A BOTTLE of CLARK'S MARVELLOUS EMBROCATION atcompanlu \ he PASIATREUSIS , wiiU which , it ii used alternately , 0 LATER AND EARLIER TESTIMONIALS . 1 , Park Lane , Oxford Street , March 2 Htb , 18 f . fi .
