Charles Du Val has reached India , and made his first appearance there at the Gaiety Theatre , Bombav . with _unoualified success . The Indian _iournals

are unanimous in their favourable criticisms on Bro . Du Val ' s monologue . He appears for a season at the Theatre Royal , Calcutta , after Bombay , and will probably visit China and Japan . A new Mark lodge , the Wouldhave , No . 362 , is to be consecrated at South Shields , on Tuesday , the 26 th inst ., by Bro . the Rev . Canon Tristram , D . D ., the R . W .

Prov . G . M . This will make the sixth lodge created since the learned doctor succeeded to the chair previously filled by Earl Percy , P . G . M . M ., and raises the number of lodges in the province to eleven . The lodge is named after the inventor of the life boat , who was a South Shields man , and the first W . M . is Bro . T . G . Mabane , the retiring Mayor of the _Boroueh , supported by excellent Masons as Wardens in Bros . T . M . Coulson and G . Robson .

success . A complimentary dinner was given on Twelfth Night at the Royal Hotel , Derby , to our genial and talented Bro . Edward Terry . Mr . T . Roe , M . P ., the representative of Derby in the new House of Commons , occupied the chair , and teere was a numerous and agreeable company gathered together to do honour to this

highly popular actor . Everything was done to give eclat to the occasion , and Bro . Terry will long retain in his memory this evidence of the welcome extended to him by his many friends and admirers in this Midland town . lhe installation of Bro . Cowper as VV . M . of the Ferrum Lodge , No . 1 S 4 S , took place at the Masonic Hall , Middlesbro ' , on Wednesday , the 13 th inst . After the appointment of officers for the ensuing year , the annual banquet was held at the house of Bro . Carter , Corporation Hotel .

A desire was shown by the brethren of the Province of Cheshire , to mark the occasion of the Prince of Wales's visit this week to Eaton Hall , to present the M . W . G . M . with an address of welcome and congratulation , but his Royal Highness felt obliged to decline it , as his visit was of a private character .

At the last ordinary meeting of the St . Bartholomew Lodge , No . 6 9 6 , held on Tuesday , the 12 th inst ., at the Anchor Inn , Wednesbury , the VV . M ., Bro . E . T . Collins , on behalf of the officers and members , presented Bro . Richard Williams with a very handsome illuminated address in recognition of valuable services rendered by him to the lodge as Treasurer during the long period of

twenty-nine years . The installation meeting of the Friendship Lodge , No . 206 , was held with great eclat on Thursday last , when Bro . Wm . Gowland was installed VV . M . Bro . J . A desire was shown by the brethren of the Province of Cheshire , to mark the occasion of the Prince of Wales's visit this week to Eaton Hall , to present the M . W . G . M . with an address of welcome and congratulation , but his Royal Highness felt obliged to decline it , as his visit was of a private character .
