LIVERPOOL . —Liverpool Lodge ( No . 1547 ) . —The ordinary monthly meeting of the members of this lodge , held on VVednesday evening , the 12 th inst ., was especially interesting , as the brethren had then the rare opportunity of witnessing a father raise his son to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . Bro . Dr . A . Soldat , W . M ., occupied the chair at the commencement of the evening ,

After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and the lodge opened by Bro . Dr . Soldat , W . M ., in

the Second Degree , the chair was taken by Bro . S . Haynes , P . M ., who in a most impressive manner raised his son , Bro . J . Haynes , and Bro . T . H . Carefull , hailing from the Everton Lodge , S 23 , to the Third Degree . The acting W . M . was congratulated most cordially on his admirable working and on the peculiarly happy and unusual nature of the occurrence attaching to the performance of the

ceremony . The brethren afterwards adjourned to refreshment , and a very pleasant after-supper evening was spent , frequent allusions being made to the prominent feature of the work of the Liverpool Lodge that evening .

STONY STRATFORD . —Watling Street Lodge ( No . 1639 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 6 th inst ., at the Cock Hotel . The lodge having been opened by Bro . Gilkes , the minutes of the last lodge meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . VV . Parrott brought up the report of the Audit Committee , which showed a good balance in favour of the Iodge . Bro .

T . Taylor , P . M . 1410 , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . W ., then took the chair and in a most impressive way installed Bro . H . King into the chair of K . S . The ceremony throughout was performed in the most finished manner by the Installing Master , under whose direction the members of the lodge marched past and saluted their new Master in ancient form . The VV M . then invested ihis officers as follows :

The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having being duly given and honoured ,

The Worshipful Master in proposing " The Health of the R . W . the Prov . G . M ., Sir Daniel Gooch , Bart ., the V . W . the D . P . G . M ., the Rev . J . Studholme Brownrigg , and the Prov . Grand Oflicers Present and Past , " said that he felt honoured b y having so many past Provincial Grand Oflicers around their board that evening , and coupled the toast with the name of Bro . Christmas , VV . M . 17 S 7 a Prov .

, Grand Officer for the present year . Bro . Christmas replied for " The Prov . Grand Oflicers " in a felicitous speech . The Worshipful Master then proposed "The Health of the Installing Master , Bro . Taylor , " paying him a well deserved compliment for the effective manner in which he had performed the principal ceremony of the lodge that

evening , at the same time reminding the brethren that they had in him one of the most distinguished Masons in the province , having taken high grand and provincial rank in all branches of Masonry . Bro . Taylor expressed the pleasure it had afforded him by installing the W . M . of thc Watling Street Lodge , and thanked the brethren tor the very cordial way in which they

had received the toast . Having assumed the gavel , Bro . Taylor proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and congratulated the lodge upon having elected Bro . King to the chair . He hoped that during the coming year the VV . M . would have plenty of work to do . He was quite sure that he was ready and anxious to do it , and concluded by wishing him a happy and prosperous year of office .

The Worshipful Master , who , on rising to reply , was received with a very warm reception , thanked the brethren for the honour they had done him by placing him in that chair , and expressed the hope that during his term of office the Watling Street Lodge would continue to flourish and prosper , and he took that opportunity of proposing " The Health of the I . P . M ., " and in the name of the lodge

presented Bro . Gilkes with a P . M . ' s jewel . Bro . Gilkes replied in suitable terms . The Worshipful Master in giving the toast of " The Visitors , " expressed the pleasure that it gave him and the members of his lodge to welcome so many distinguished and worthy brethren as they had present that evening ; the number of visitors being equal to that of the members

present . Bros . Wilson , W . M . 129 S ; Wilford , W . M . 1410 ; Christmas , VV . M . 1787 ; and other visitors , replied in appropriate terms . The Worshipful Master then gave the toasts of " The Masonic Charities " and " The Oflicers of the Lodge . " The new officers in reply , offering their hearty support to the chair .

Ihe Tyler's ' toast concluded the evening . During the intervals of the toasts vocal performances were contributed by Bros . Wilford , Wilson , Aveline , Munday , Elmes , and others .

C ., & c , be elected an honorary member of this lodge . The Iodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual toasts followed . " The Health of the VV . M . " was flatteringly proposed by the I . P . M ., and warmly received by the

expressed towards the W . M . The W . M . then in a very suitable speech presented a handsome Past Master's jewel ( manufactured by Bro . George Kenning ) to the retiring Master , Bro . _ W . Davidson , as a mark of the sincere appreciation of his services to the lodge . Bro . Davidson acknowledged the presentation , and thanked the brethren for their mark of esteem . On the motion of Bro . P . M . Coulson , the thanks of the lodge were passed

to Bro . Heppell , J . W ., for the able way in which he had discharged the duties of the Secretaryship for two years . The business afterwards terminated . The annual festival of the lodge was held in the evening , at Bro . T . Lauderdale's , G'lden Lion Hotel , where an excellent repast was served . The VV . M ., Bro . W . Ross ,

presided , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were afterwards duly honoured . The jewel presented to the W . The lodge was opened , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Grist being the candidate . Bro . Coughlan gave the explanation of the tracing board . The ceremony of passing was then rehearsed , Bro . White being the candidate . Bro . Stephens , 1425 , was unanimously elected a joining member . CHISWICK LODGE ( No . 2012 ) . —A meeting was held on Saturday , the 15 th inst ., at the Hampshire Hog , King-street , Hammersmith , VV ., when there were present Bros . Arthur Williams , VV . Visitors : Bros . C . Hopkins , , G . Maclachlan , and G . T . Thomas . Lodge was opened , and the minutes read and confirmed . The W . M . announced his intention of rehearsing the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Wood offering himself as the candidate ; and taking into consideration the absence of the worthy Preceptor , Bro . Ayling , P . M ., through illness , and

the fact of the W . M . being in the chair for the first time , he having been raised but five months ago , it was rendered in a marvellously correct manner , and reflects great credit upon him ; in fact , having got through it so well , he attempted the passing , and done it equally well , Bro . Pidcock being the candidate . Bros . G . Maclachlan and

Thomas were unanimously elected members . A vote of thanks was then recorded on the minutes for the very able manner in which the W . M . had performed the duties of the evening , and Bro . Davies , S . W ., was elected to fill the chair for the ensuing week . Lodge was then closed . It was then announced that a musical evening would be held in future on the last Saturday in the month .

SUTTON . — Lome Lodge ( No . 1347 ) . —This lodge had a grand field day on the 10 th inst ., at the Greyhound Hotel , on which occasion the brethren of the Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , No . 1507 , assisted by other brethren , undertook to work the Fifteen Sections . There was a large attendance of brethren from the neighbourhood as well as an excellent contingent from London . Among

W . were also good , but where all was so well done it would be invidious to particularise .

the Second Degree , the chair was taken by Bro . S . Haynes , P . M ., who in a most impressive manner raised his son , Bro . J . Haynes , and Bro . T . H . Carefull , hailing from the Everton Lodge , S 23 , to the Third Degree . The acting W . M . was congratulated most cordially on his admirable working and on the peculiarly happy and unusual nature of the occurrence attaching to the performance of the

ceremony . The brethren afterwards adjourned to refreshment , and a very pleasant after-supper evening was spent , frequent allusions being made to the prominent feature of the work of the Liverpool Lodge that evening .

STONY STRATFORD . —Watling Street Lodge ( No . 1639 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 6 th inst ., at the Cock Hotel . The lodge having been opened by Bro . Gilkes , the minutes of the last lodge meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . VV . Parrott brought up the report of the Audit Committee , which showed a good balance in favour of the Iodge . Bro .

T . Taylor , P . M . 1410 , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . W ., then took the chair and in a most impressive way installed Bro . H . King into the chair of K . S . The ceremony throughout was performed in the most finished manner by the Installing Master , under whose direction the members of the lodge marched past and saluted their new Master in ancient form . The Worshipful Master in proposing " The Health of the R . W . the Prov . G . M ., Sir Daniel Gooch , Bart ., the V . W . the D . P . G . M ., the Rev . J . Studholme Brownrigg , and the Prov . Grand Oflicers Present and Past , " said that he felt honoured b y having so many past Provincial Grand Oflicers around their board that evening , and coupled the toast with the name of Bro . Christmas , VV . M . 17 S 7 a Prov .

, Grand Officer for the present year . Bro . Christmas replied for " The Prov . Grand Oflicers " in a felicitous speech . The Worshipful Master then proposed "The Health of the Installing Master , Bro . Taylor , " paying him a well deserved compliment for the effective manner in which he had performed the principal ceremony of the lodge that

evening , at the same time reminding the brethren that they had in him one of the most distinguished Masons in the province , having taken high grand and provincial rank in all branches of Masonry . Bro . Taylor expressed the pleasure it had afforded him by installing the W . M . of thc Watling Street Lodge , and thanked the brethren tor the very cordial way in which they

had received the toast . Having assumed the gavel , Bro . Taylor proposed "The Health of the W . M ., " and congratulated the lodge upon having elected Bro . King to the chair . He hoped that during the coming year the VV . M . would have plenty of work to do . He was quite sure that he was ready and anxious to do it , and concluded by wishing him a happy and prosperous year of office .

The Worshipful Master , who , on rising to reply , was received with a very warm reception , thanked the brethren for the honour they had done him by placing him in that chair , and expressed the hope that during his term of office the Watling Street Lodge would continue to flourish and prosper , and he took that opportunity of proposing " The Health of the I . P . M ., " and in the name of the lodge

presented Bro . Gilkes with a P . M . ' s jewel . Bro . Gilkes replied in suitable terms . The Worshipful Master in giving the toast of " The Visitors , " expressed the pleasure that it gave him and the members of his lodge to welcome so many distinguished and worthy brethren as they had present that evening ; the number of visitors being equal to that of the members

present . Bros . Wilson , W . M . 129 S ; Wilford , W . M . 1410 ; Christmas , VV . M . 1787 ; and other visitors , replied in appropriate terms . The Worshipful Master then gave the toasts of " The Masonic Charities " and " The Oflicers of the Lodge . " The new officers in reply , offering their hearty support to the chair .

Ihe Tyler's ' toast concluded the evening . During the intervals of the toasts vocal performances were contributed by Bros . Wilford , Wilson , Aveline , Munday , Elmes , and others .

the fact of the W . M . being in the chair for the first time , he having been raised but five months ago , it was rendered in a marvellously correct manner , and reflects great credit upon him ; in fact , having got through it so well , he attempted the passing , and done it equally well , Bro . Thomas were unanimously elected members . A vote of thanks was then recorded on the minutes for the very able manner in which the W . M . had performed the duties of the evening , and Bro . There was a large attendance of brethren from the neighbourhood as well as an excellent contingent from London . Among
