The alteration in the days of meeting has also been agreed to by the Grand Master , and the lodge will now meet on the first instead of the second Saturday in February , March , May , July , and November , the December meeting remaining on the second Saturday of that month as before .

AERATION - OF WATERS . —There are not many of us but know the value in every-day life of mineral and aerated waters , but few are aware of the vast proportions to which the business of their production has developed , or the ingenuity and enterprise which has marked its progress from its earliest stages . A visit to the manufactory of one of the prominent
aerated water producers , with its many bright copper cylinders , copper tubes , coiling here and everywhere , and its gauges and dials , all telling of confined and compressed force , would almost bewilder the uninitiated , but tend to make the " cooling draught" interesting as well as comforting . But " wonders will never cease , " and the latest wonder is the facility with
which the Volcanic Aeration Company has enabled the dispenser of aerated waters to , on the spot , produce as many bottles of whatever kind as may be required in the mansion , the hospital , the hotel , the restaurant , the canteen , the school with its thousand inmates , the club , the military or naval mess , and even the cricket field , all ready instantaneously , bright and pure , soda , lemon ,
potash , or of whatsoever flavour or description , highly aerated , and with an effervesence of the greatest lasting properties . We are told that compared for economy , and in the absence of need for skilled labour , the cost of the apparatus is nominal , and it can be rented from the
company upon suitable tsrms . We doubt not that there is a great future for this new departure in commercial economics , and we should advise an inspection of the several apparatus held under the patents of the Volcanic Aeration Company , at their offices , 16 , Philpot-lane , E . C .

The Duke ' s children left for England on the following day in charge of Lieut .-Col . Becher . VVe regret
to hear of the fatal accident to Sir Howard Elphinstone , V . C , Comptroller of the Duke ' s household , who was swept overboard when travelling by the New Zealand Shipping Company ' s steamer Tongariro , from Plymouth to Teneriffe . Great sympathy is felt for Lady Elphinstone and her daughter , who were passengers with Sir Howard .
The Most Worshipful Grand Master has given his consent to the removal of the Gallery Lodge , No . 192 S , from Brixton Hall to Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street . The brethren of the lodge having passed a resolution in favour of this change of site , obtained the assistance of the Grand Secretary to lay their views before the Prince of Wales , with the reasons for the desired change , which were that as a large number of newspaper contributors are living on the
north side of the Thames , Brixton is inconvenient for them , and that as Anderton's is central , it is equally accessible to the brethren living on both sides of the river . The alteration in the days of meeting has also been agreed to by the Grand Master , and the lodge will now meet on the first instead of the second Saturday in February , March , May , July , and November , the December meeting remaining on the second Saturday of that month as before .
In October , 1874 , the Mark Mister Mason Lodge of St . Michael , No . 175 , was consecrated at Helston by the P . G . M ., and in honour of the event the Provincial Grand Lodge was held there in that year . Owing to the lack of railway communication and the consequent isolation of Helston from other parts of the county , no Provincial Grand Lodge has been held there since . During the . last year
Helston has provided accommodation for public entertainments by the erection of its spacious public buildings , and the brethren of St . Michael Lodge have now the pleasure of announcing to the Mark Masons of the province that the P . G . M ., Bro . Sir Charles Graves-Sawle , Bart ., has arranged to hold the next Provincial Grand Lodge at Helston some time next month . The brethren will meet in the Godolphin Hall .
Cigarette smoking has now become so general that it is not to be wondered at that manufacturers keenly compete with each other in establishing a reputation amongst connoisseurs . The most successful effort in that direction we have met with has been made by Bro . C R .
Brighten , of Blanchard ' s , who has introduced a cigarette of the finest Oriental tobacco , done up in a most convenient and atlractivebox of a registered pattern , and has arranged with the manufacturers to supply them solely to the famous house in Beak-street .
At a recent meetingof the Hervey Lodge of Instruction , held at the White Hart Hotel , Bromley , at the conclusion of the ordinary business , a presentation was made , on behalf of the lodge , to Bro . Martin J . Dickins , as a testimonial of their appreciation of his services as Secretary since the formation of the lodge in 1 SS 4 . The presentation took the form of a Master ' s collar , with most elaborately engraved and solid jewels , inscribed with the names of the following
brethren , members of the lodge : Bros . J . F . Arnaud , R . Burkitt , Sec ; H . G . Cooper , N . R . Dyer , H . J . Felton , P . M . ; R . L . Gore , P . M . ; D . Grinsted , P . M ., P . S . G .
