Whilst aware that several Candidates have already been actively engaged in canvassing for support , I have deemed it to be more in accordance with Masonic principles to wait until the retirement of the present Secretary was provisionally agreed upon , before I made my appeal to the Governors . My Masonic rank , as detailed below , has been attained by constant work during the past 12 years in the Provinces of West Lancashire , Notts , Derbyshire , Lincolnshire , and Kent . I am 3 6 years of age , and have had more than 20 years of active business life , nearly the whole of which has been passed in the service of Messrs . W . N . Nicholson ( late M . During that time I have formed a wide connection throughout England , which , I venture to claim , would prove invaluable to the Institution , should I have the honour of being elected . I shall be happy to give references to Brethren and other gentlemen in all parts of the Kingdom , and , in soliciting the favour of your support , I beg to assure you that my zeal in Masonry will prompt me to make every effort to uphold and improve the status and honour of this noble Institution . 1 have the honour to be , Ladies and Gentlemen , Your obedient servant , JAMES MORRISON McLEOD . Gentlemen , —In justice to you I will state I have been taking your wonderful remed y , the MICROBE KILLER , for a very characteristic case of gout ( podagra ) in my left foot , complicated with general rheumatic symptoms . As an external remed y it gave me almost immediate relief from the great heat and pains in the foot , vvhen all other local applications heretofore used had failed . I have been taking it also internally , and have every reason to believe that , as an internal remedy , it assisted in removing all symptoms of the gout .
