The Deputy Grand Master , the Dean , and the Provincial Grand Officers then retired from the lodge , which was closed in the usual way . A very pleasant hour was afterwards spent downstairs , and some capital speeches made , especially in reply to the toast of " The Visitors . " The arrangements were of a very satisfactory character , and everyone went away delighted with the evening ' s success .

Ihe above Provincial Grand Lodge met at the Guildhall , Poole , by permission of the Mayor and Corporation , on Friday , the 30 th ult ., under the presidency of the Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Montague Guest . There was a large gathering of brethren , including Bros . W . E . Brymer , M . P ., D . P . G . M . ; Rev . W . Mortimer Heath , P . G . Chap . England ; G . Burt , P . A . G . D . C . England ; and the following among other distinguished Provincial Grand Officers : Bros . G . J . G . Gregory , L . H . Ruegg , W . D .
Dugdale , C . H . W . Parkinson , P . E . L . Budge , R . D . Thornton , P . G . Treas . ; R . Case , P . G . Sec . ; and others . The handsome Guildhall was admirably fitted up , and when the Provincial Grand Lodge was formed presented a brilliant appearance . A lecture having been delivered by the Chaplain , Bro . the Rev . Reeve Smith , the Prov . Grand Secretary read various communications , including a letter acknowled ging on behalf of Lady Carnarvon the vote of condolence passed on the death of the late Pro Grand Master .
Ihe PROV . GRAND MASTER then delivered an address on the state and progress of the Craft and the general business of the province , and announced that he had decided to accept the invitation of the Dorchester lodge to Hold the next meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge in that town .
The usual reports , all of which were of a satisfactory nature , were presented . It was mentioned that the three candidates for the Masonic Institutions recommended by the Charity Organisation Committee had been carried . Various propositions connected with the Charities were fully discussed . Bro . Zillwood Milledge , 170 , received at the hands of the Prov . Grand Master the Charity jewel , he having duly served as Steward to thc Royal Masonic Institution for Boys and Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution for Aged Freemasons .

A large number of the brethren afterwards sat down to an elegant banquet at the Drill Hall . The Prov . G . M . presided during a portion of the proceedings , and subsequently his place was filled by Bro . Major Brymer , M . P ., D . P . G . M . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured .

Ihe annual meeting of this Provincial Grand Lodge was held at Sheerness on the 4 th inst ., under thc banner of Adams Lodge , No . 6 , when a goodly number of brethren assembled , under the presidency of the Deputy P . G . M ., Bro . Rev . Hayman Cummings , P . G . C . England , who announced ,
with deep regret , the continued ill-health of the P . G . M ., and his consequent inability to be present at the meeting of Prov . Grand Lodge , ancl also stated that the P . G . makes up a sum of 300 guineas to the credit of the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge of Kent in that fund—a very proud position . Before Prov . Grand Lodge was closed , the DEPUTY PROV . GRAND MASTER in the chair alluded in feeling terms to the loss which thc province had sustained since their last meeting by the death of several well-known and highly-esteemed brethren , notably Bro . Dr . Penfold , of the St . Andrew ' s
Lodge , Rochester , and Bros . Hayes and West , of the Excelsior Lodge , Woolwich , and others ; but on the whole their position this year , as regarded numbers and efficiency , compared favourably with previous years . Hc regretted that on that occasion their revered chief was unable b y illness to be present and preside . He trusted that the Great Overseer of the Universe would in due time restore him to health .
The Prov . Grand Lodge having becn closed , the brethren adjourned to the banquet at the Britannia Hotel , to the number of about 50 , the Deputy P . G . PROVINCIAL GRAND MARK LODGE OF WEST YORKSHIRE .
The Half-yearly Communication of the above Provincial Grand Lodge was held at thc Masonic Hall , Great George-street , Leeds , on Saturday , the 31 st ult ., Bro . Charles Letch Mason , P . G . M ., in the chair , supported b y Bro . the Rev . Dr . Thomas C . Smyth , P . G . Chap ., D . P . G . M ., ancl a large number of brethren from every lodge in the province .
The lodge of Mark Masters having becn opened by the W . M . and officers of thc Copley Lodge , No . in , the Provincial Grand Master ancl his officers entered the room ; the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Masters was opened , and the Provincial Grand Master and his officers duly saluted . The PROV . GRAND MASTER , in acknowledging the salutation , delivered an ' able address , in which he reviewed the work " of the Provincial Grand Lodge during the year , formulating some excellent advice , valuable alike to the members of his Grand Lodge and to the Craft generally .
Ihe minutes of the Provincial Grand Lodge held at Doncaster on April Sth , 1891 , were read and confirmed . The PROV . GRAND SECRETARY read the acknowledgment by Bro . the Rev . Dr . _ Sn . yth , D . P . G . M ., to the sympathetic vote to him passed at thc last meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge . The roll of lodges was next called , and also that of thc Provincial Grand Oilicers .
The Prov . Grand Registrar read a statement of the numerical position of each lodge up to the 31 st December , 1 S 91 . The Prov . That the Mark Master Masons of West Yorkshire , in Provincial Grand Lodge assembled , desire to express their deep sympathy with the Right Worshipful Bto . Thomas William Tew in his prolonged illness , and humbly pray that it may please the Great Overseer of the Universe to speedily restore him to health , and spare him for many years to the Craft , of which he is so distinguished a member .
A most interesting address on " Traces of Freemasonry existing amoivi the Druses" was delivered by thc Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Dr . Smyth , P . G . Chap . Provincial Grand Mark Lodge Of West Yorkshire.
PROVINCIAL GRAND MARK LODGE OF WEST YORKSHIRE .
The Half-yearly Communication of the above Provincial Grand Lodge was held at thc Masonic Hall , Great George-street , Leeds , on Saturday , the 31 st ult ., Bro . Charles Letch Mason , P . G . M ., in the chair , supported b y Bro . the Rev . Dr . Thomas C . Smyth , P . G . Chap ., D . P . G . M ., ancl a large number of brethren from every lodge in the province .
The lodge of Mark Masters having becn opened by the W . M . and officers of thc Copley Lodge , No . in , the Provincial Grand Master ancl his officers entered the room ; the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Masters was opened , and the Provincial Grand Master and his officers duly saluted . The PROV . GRAND MASTER , in acknowledging the salutation , delivered an ' able address , in which he reviewed the work " of the Provincial Grand Lodge during the year , formulating some excellent advice , valuable alike to the members of his Grand Lodge and to the Craft generally .
Ihe minutes of the Provincial Grand Lodge held at Doncaster on April Sth , 1891 , were read and confirmed . The PROV . GRAND SECRETARY read the acknowledgment by Bro . the Rev . Dr . _ Sn . yth , D . P . G . M ., to the sympathetic vote to him passed at thc last meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge . The roll of lodges was next called , and also that of thc Provincial Grand Oilicers .
The Prov . Grand Registrar read a statement of the numerical position of each lodge up to the 31 st December , 1 S 91 . The Prov . Grand Treasurer ' s balance-sheet to 30 th September , 1 S 91 , was received and adopted . Bro . F . CLEEVES , Prov . G . Treas ., proposed , aiid Bro . J BARKER , P . P . G . W ., seconded , lhat Bro . Henry Oxley , P . G . I . G ., be elected as Prov . Grand Treasurer for thc ensuing- 12 months .
1 his was carried unanimously , and Bro . OXLEY expressed his acknowledgments for the honour conferred upon him . The Prov . Grand Master then invested the following brethren as Prov . A General Purposes Committee having been appointed , thc PROV . GRAND MASTER announced that he hoped to hold thc next meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge at Huddersfield , under thc banner of the Truth Lodge , No . 132 .
The PROV . GRAND MASTER , in feeling terms , proposed the following resolution , which was seconded by thc D . P . G . M ., ancl unanimously carried by all the brethren upstanding , the Provincial Grand Secretary being instructed to communicate it at once to Bro . H , G . E . Green , Prov . Grand Secretary of Craft Masonry in thc Province of West Yorkshire :
That the Mark Master Masons of West Yorkshire , in Provincial Grand Lodge assembled , desire to express their deep sympathy with the Right Worshipful Bto . Thomas William Tew in his prolonged illness , and humbly pray that it may please the Great Overseer of the Universe to speedily restore him to health , and spare him for many years to the Craft , of which he is so distinguished a member .
A most interesting address on " Traces of Freemasonry existing amoivi the Druses" was delivered by thc Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Dr . Smyth , P . G . Chap . England ; ancl , on thc motion of the Provincial Grand Master , seconded by the Provincial Senior Grand Warden , a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the learned brother , which he acknowledged in felicitous terms . The Provincial Grand Lodge was then closed .
