Beneath the base of the clock was a silver plate bearing the following inscription : — " Presented to Bro . A . L . Emanuel on his marriage , by the members of the Prince Edward of Saxe-Weimar Lodge , as a token of respect , and to mark their appreciation of his services as Secretary from the formation ofthe lodge , 1 SS 1 , to date 1 SS 6 . " Bro . Page , P . M ., proposed " The Health of the VV . M ., " who , in responding , said that his year of office was near

at an end , and du ring the year he had endeavoured to do his duties to the utmost of his power and ability . He had the interest of the lodge much at heart , and had always so since the formation . He must say , however , that he never anticipated being VV . M . of the lodge , but now he was glad and proud of it . The Worshipful Master proposed " The Visitors , " arid said that the Saxe , Weimar Lodge was always pleased to see

visitors . That evening they had better attendance than on former occasions , and he could assure them that they were all welcome amongst them . Bro . Grant , P . M . 1705 , returned thanks , and said that the Prince Edward of Saxe Weimar Lodge was eminently noted for its hospitality . It was a source of gratification for him to be present , as the VV . M . was initiated in , the same lodge , and at the same time , as himself . The visit

that evening was most interesting , as the brethren had given a tangible reward to , and shown the respect they held towards Bro . Emanuel , who had worked hard and zealously for the lodge in particular , and Masonry in general . The VVorshipful Master , in proposing " The Officers , " remarked that the S . W . was absent through naval duties , and the S . D . was suffering with bronchitis . Bro . VVm . Royston Pike , J . VV ., responded , and said that evening reminded him of the old days ofthe Saxe-Weimar

Lodge . The brethren had paid a well earned tribute to their honorary Secretary , Bro . Emanuel , who had lately married , and he ( Bro . Pike ) thought it was quite time he had done so , and Bro . Emanuel regretted not having done so before . The ofiicers of the lodge would always stick to their "Alma Mater , " and do all they could for the prosperity of the lodge . The Tyler's toast concluded a most pleasant evening , which was enlivened with some songs contributed by Bros . Sylvester , Bayly , Grant , and Gieve .

Z . then vacated the chair , which was occupied by Comp . Col . Shadwell H . Clerke , G . S . E ., who had kindly undertaken the duty of Installing Principal . Comp . G . P . Fosta was then installed as First Principal , Comp . F . R .

VV . Hedges as Second Principal , and Comp . Brooks as Third Principal . Comp . Festa then rose and said he had a most agreeable task to perform , viz ., to present to the retiring M . E . Z . a Past Principal ' s jewel . He referred briefly tothe satisfaction the companions felt at having so distinguished a Mason as the Prov . G . M . of Dorset as their founder and First Principal . He felt sure the gift would be accepted by him

as an expression of the hearty goodwill of the members of the chapter , and he trusted he would live long to wear it . Comp . Alontague Guest , who was evidently taken by surprise at this part of the proceedings , thanked the companions most heartily for the acknowledgment of his services . He trusted he should have the satisfaction of often

wearing it at their future meetings . The jewel , which was designed by the M . E . Z ., bore the Montague Guest arms and motto , with the Arch emblems , set with S diamonds , and was of very chaste design and workmanship ; it was manufactured by Comp . George Kenning .

I he chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to a banquet , under the presidency of Comp . Festa , "The Queen and Royal Arch Masonry , " "The M . E . First P . ihcipal , H . R . H . the Prince ot Wales , " and the other Masonic toasts , were given and loyally received . Ccmp . Philbrick , Grand Registrar , in responding for "The Grand Ollicers , " said it was always a sign of vitality when a new lodge took unto itself a chapter . Grand Masters Lodge , No . 1 , after the lapse of over a

century , had only just done so however . Those in Grand Office always took the kindest interest in the success of Royal Arch Masonry . As the M . E . Z . had said they had amongst them great names , of which every Englishman should be proud , and it was a Brotherhood that commanded universal respect . Comp . Montague Guest then rose to propose "The Healths of the M . E . Z ,, and the Second and Third Principals "—all trood and worthy Masons . He had

during the past year ample opportunities of observing the zeal and ability of Comp . Festa , to whom the success of both the lodge and chapter was in a large measure due , and who was extremely popular in the Craft . He was ably supported by Comps . Hedges and Brooks , and the other officers of the chapter . He , himself , retired from office with the certain knowledge that his successor and his ollicers would perform their duties with credit to themselves

and the chapter . Comp . Festa , in response , said he hardly knew how to express to Comp . Montague Guest his thanks for the flattering remarks he had used in reference to himself . _ If in the position of M . E . Z . he should succeed in obtaining their approval he should be perfectly satisfied , and he could only express a hope that when hc left that chair he should deserve their thanks as much as his predecessor . Comp . Festa then proposed " The Health of the retiring

First Principal . Comp . Montague Guest thanked the companions heartily for the reception the toast had met with at their hands . He felt unworthy of the compliment lhat had been paid him ; he had not , perhaps , done all that he should have done during his year of ofiice , but he had felt much pleasure and satisfaction at the position of both lodge and

chapter , and the compliment paid to him in naming them after himself . He put down the prosperity of the chapter especially to the interest taken in it by such Masons as the M . E . Z ., to whom it owed its existence . The M . E . Z . then proposed "The Health of the Grand Scribe E ., Comp . Shadwell H . Clerke , " who had generously come forward to help the infant chapter , for which they hoped they should have grateful hearts ,
