the lodge to welcome you once more most heartily within its portals . _ Your annual visit is always a matter of pleasurable anticipation , and you svill find to-day , and I trust on many future occasions , the heartiness of our welcome multiplied by the number of your visits . Permit me also , Very Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master , to congratulate you upon commencing , as you have so aptly put
it , a fresh voyage as chief officer under a nesv commander . It vvas the privilege of many members of this lodge to attend the installation meeting of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master at Bath ; but not the least pleasurable incident to us vvas the opportunity it afforded of joining in that grand and spontaneous demonstration svhich greeted your re-investment as Deputy Provincial
Grand Master , a demonstration vvhich , whilst it could not fail to be gratifying to you , Sir , vvas a striking testimony to the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master and the Officers of Grand Lodge then present of the very high esteem and affectionate regard in vvhich you are held throughout the province . I beg now , therefore , to repeat our congratulations more formally , but not less heartily , and to
express our hope that the G . A . O . T . U . may spare you for many years to bear the high honours of your distinguished office , and to continue your visits to the Eldon Lodge , where you will alsvays be sure of a most hearty welcome . Else for coming so far to put him ( the speaker ) in the chair of K . S ., and for performing the beautiful ceremony in such an admirable
way . Bro . Else regretted that time svas so brief that he vvould have only time to say a few words , but if he spoke briefly he spoke none the less sincerely . He thanked the W . M . and the brethren for the kind and cordial expressions used , and for the hearty manner in which they had all . received his name . He assured them it was a pleasure to visit the Eldon Lodge once more and to do the good work of
installing Bro . Davy as W . M ., and the one little bit of advice he would give the nesv W . M . svas to follow in the footsteps of the previous W . M ., Bro . Shapland . He congratulated the brethren on the success of the Eldon Lodge , and in conclusion , Bro . Else thanked the Masons of Somerset and those of the Province of Bristol

vvas a pleasure to learn that Bro . Davy ' s year of office was likely to be marked and honoured by a visit from the Prov . for the very hearty way in vvhich they had received it-What he lacked in speech-making he hoped to make up for in the svorking of the ceremonies in the lodge , and the work would be a service of love , for he truly venerated Freemasonry , and had derived inestimable pleasure from the happy acquaintance of Freemasons . In carrying out his duties he looked for valuable assistance from his officers and
the Past Masters . Before resuming his seat he submitted to them vvith all heartiness and cordiality the toast of " The I . P . M ., " svho had performed his ceremonies , delivered some lectures , and done the work appertaining to the chair with so much skill and ability . Bro . Shapland , in reply , said it vvas gratifying and an ample reward to know that his efforts met svith the
approbation of the members of the lodge and the visitors . The W . M . proposed "The Past Masters , " who were the pillars of the lodge , and whose names vvere a long line ° ' excellent workers . He had received a letter from Bro . the Rev . Weatherley , of Leeds , whose absence they aU regretted . The sentiment svas acknosvledged by Bro . Minns , vvho had come from Newport , I . W ., for the purpose of being
present . TheW . M . next gave "The Visiting Brethren , " whom he vvas glad to see in such large numbers , and whom they heartily welcomed . ,. Bro . Gard , P . S . G . the lodge to welcome you once more most heartily within its portals .
W ., for the purpose of being
present . TheW . M . next gave "The Visiting Brethren , " whom he vvas glad to see in such large numbers , and whom they heartily welcomed . ,. Bro . Gard , P . S . G .
