THE ANNUAL SUMMER FESTIVAL OF THE CAMDEN LODGE , No . 701 .
The annual ladies' summer festival . of the Camden Lodge , No . 704 , took place on Tuesday , the 25 th ult ,, when a most pleasant and enjoyable day was spent up the river . The party , numberingoverSo , left Paddington by special saloon for Henley at 9 . 30 , where they
embarked on the fine steam launch Oueen of the Thames for Pangbourne , where an excellent banquet awaited them . The VV . M ., Bro . DAVID OSOSKI , gave the loyal toasts , and the I . P . M . in suitable words proposed the toast of " The W . M .. " which was received enthusiastically .
The W . M ., in reply , said that he had great pleasure in seeing so many present . It showed how these Camden river festivals were appreciated , and he hoped they would be continued from year to year . It was their ambition to work their way up to Oxford . The toast of " The Ladies , ' and a suitable reply from Bro . SIMPSON . J . W ., brought the banquet to a close . '
An adjournment was made to the lawn , to have the " group photographed . The party then re-embarked for Henley , where the special saloons were in readiness to take them to P . iddington . The home journey was enlivened by songs and solos . Bros . Gammon and F . W . Bint being in great request , and . Miss Barry was frequently called upon to perform on her mandoline .

AN'I ) then addressed the brethren on the object of their meeting there ¦ that evening as follows : Brethren , —We are met this evening on a very interesting and important occasion to constitute and consecrate a new lodge of Mark Master Masons according to ancient usage . You are well aware that we have already in Ceylon two Mark Lodges , one
attached to the Lanka Royal Arch Chapter , Irish Constitution , and the other attached to Bonnie Doon Lodge , Scotch Constitution . It was , however , deemed desirable b y many brethren to have a Mark Lodge under the English Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons , with its own officers , in order that this
beautiful Degree might be worked in a manner worthy of its importance . A petition for a warrant was therefore forwarded to the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England , Wales , Ax ., and H . R . H . the Grand Master has been pleased to grant a warrant . The Constitutions of Grand Lodge enjoin that , without constitution ; . nd consecration , a lodge cannot be

acknowledged , nor can its officers be admitted into Grand Lodge , or into Provincial Grand Lodge ; nor can its members be entitled to the benefits of the Fund of Benevolence . In order , therefore , to avoid irregularities , this lodge must be regularly constituted and consecrated . The Chaplain will offer prayer . The D . of C . then read a letter from the Grand
Secretary , empowering him to appoint a First Past Principal of the Irish Royal Arch'Chapter , who , by virtue of that office , was also a P . M . ot the Mark Lodge attached to the chapter . He therefore appointed Comp . Maitland the Senior Past First Principal in the island to consecrate the lodge in due and ancient form . The COXSI-XKATINU Oi- 'i'iCKR having suitabl y replied ,
proceeeled with the ceremony , which he conducted in a thoroughly impressive and efficient manner , being most ably assisted by . his Consecrating Officers , reflecting great credit on all concerned , more especially on the part of the Chaplain , whose oration was listened to by the brethren with the greatest attention and interest . The lodge having been formally dedicated and
constituted , ihe ceremony ot installation was proceeded with , Bro . Capt . Hearn was then impressivel y installed in the chair , and on the return of the brethren , was saluted . WW . Bro . the Rev . John A . Lloyd has just returned from visiting parts of Canada , and the World ' s Fair : When at Toronto R . W . Bro . Ross Robertson , P . G . M ., showed him the new Masonic Monument in Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the Convalescent Children ' s Hospital , where all children of Masons are received
without payment of any kind . The hospital arrangements are charming , and Bro . Ross Robertson has earned the gratitude of Canadian Masons b y giving so splendid a gift , and by personally supervising the excellent management . Bro . Lloyd visited Rehoboam Lodge when at Toronto , and the well known Garden
City Lodge at Chicago , where he was cordiall y received , whilst at Ottawa he was enabled to give fraternal greetings from the Grand Lodge of England to the Grand Lodge of Canada , which held its annual session on the lyth ult . ' When our reverend brother was in the city he congratulated our Canadian brethren on the prosperity of the Craft in their jurisdiction .

Markham is held in the District of Malta , over which he presides so efficiently , from a communication received from the D . G . Sec , describing the action of the lodges upon the termination of the Victoria Court Martial , when the most enthusiastic expressions of sympathy and confidence were manifest , being renewed ' upon every occasion of a Masonic gathering . THE ANNUAL SUMMER FESTIVAL OF THE CAMDEN LODGE , No . 701 .
The annual ladies' summer festival . of the Camden Lodge , No . 704 , took place on Tuesday , the 25 th ult ,, when a most pleasant and enjoyable day was spent up the river . The party , numberingoverSo , left Paddington by special saloon for Henley at 9 . 30 , where they
embarked on the fine steam launch Oueen of the Thames for Pangbourne , where an excellent banquet awaited them . The VV . M ., Bro . DAVID OSOSKI , gave the loyal toasts , and the I . P . M . in suitable words proposed the toast of " The W . M .. " which was received enthusiastically .
The W . M ., in reply , said that he had great pleasure in seeing so many present . It showed how these Camden river festivals were appreciated , and he hoped they would be continued from year to year . It was their ambition to work their way up to Oxford . The toast of " The Ladies , ' and a suitable reply from Bro . SIMPSON . J . W ., brought the banquet to a close . '
An adjournment was made to the lawn , to have the " group photographed . The party then re-embarked for Henley , where the special saloons were in readiness to take them to P . iddington . The home journey was enlivened by songs and solos . Bros . Gammon and F . W . Bint being in great request , and . Miss Barry was frequently called upon to perform on her mandoline .

AN'I ) then addressed the brethren on the object of their meeting there ¦ that evening as follows : Brethren , —We are met this evening on a very interesting and important occasion to constitute and consecrate a new lodge of Mark Master Masons according to ancient usage . You are well aware that we have already in Ceylon two Mark Lodges , one
attached to the Lanka Royal Arch Chapter , Irish Constitution , and the other attached to Bonnie Doon Lodge , Scotch Constitution . It was , however , deemed desirable b y many brethren to have a Mark Lodge under the English Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons , with its own officers , in order that this
beautiful Degree might be worked in a manner worthy of its importance . A petition for a warrant was therefore forwarded to the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England , Wales , Ax ., and H . R . H . the Grand Master has been pleased to grant a warrant . The Constitutions of Grand Lodge enjoin that , without constitution ; . nd consecration , a lodge cannot be

acknowledged , nor can its officers be admitted into Grand Lodge , or into Provincial Grand Lodge ; nor can its members be entitled to the benefits of the Fund of Benevolence . In order , therefore , to avoid irregularities , this lodge must be regularly constituted and consecrated . The Chaplain will offer prayer . The D . of C . then read a letter from the Grand
Secretary , empowering him to appoint a First Past Principal of the Irish Royal Arch'Chapter , who , by virtue of that office , was also a P . M . ot the Mark Lodge attached to the chapter . He therefore appointed Comp . Maitland the Senior Past First Principal in the island to consecrate the lodge in due and ancient form . The COXSI-XKATINU Oi- 'i'iCKR having suitabl y replied ,
proceeeled with the ceremony , which he conducted in a thoroughly impressive and efficient manner , being most ably assisted by . his Consecrating Officers , reflecting great credit on all concerned , more especially on the part of the Chaplain , whose oration was listened to by the brethren with the greatest attention and interest . The lodge having been formally dedicated and
constituted , ihe ceremony ot installation was proceeded with , Bro . Capt . Hearn was then impressivel y installed in the chair , and on the return of the brethren , was saluted . WW . Bro . the Rev . John A . Lloyd has just returned from visiting parts of Canada , and the World ' s Fair : When at Toronto R . W . Bro . Ross Robertson , P . G . M ., showed him the new Masonic Monument in Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the Convalescent Children ' s Hospital , where all children of Masons are received
without payment of any kind . The hospital arrangements are charming , and Bro . Ross Robertson has earned the gratitude of Canadian Masons b y giving so splendid a gift , and by personally supervising the excellent management . Bro . Lloyd visited Rehoboam Lodge when at Toronto , and the well known Garden
City Lodge at Chicago , where he was cordiall y received , whilst at Ottawa he was enabled to give fraternal greetings from the Grand Lodge of England to the Grand Lodge of Canada , which held its annual session on the lyth ult . ' When our reverend brother was in the city he congratulated our Canadian brethren on the prosperity of the Craft in their jurisdiction .

Coming at a time when he had scarcel y recovered from a very severe illness , we can infer the amount of esteem and respect in which Bro . Admiral
Markham is held in the District of Malta , over which he presides so efficiently , from a communication received from the D . G . Sec , describing the action of the lodges upon the termination of the Victoria Court Martial , when the most enthusiastic expressions of sympathy and confidence were manifest , being renewed ' upon every occasion of a Masonic gathering .
