more enjoyable and better for its success . Music was always enjoyable , and one could not have too much . The Pro Grand Master had told him that the working of the Mozart Lodge was excellent , and he ( Bto . Frances ) quite agreed with him , and in conclusion he stated that he hoped to be associated with the lodge for many years . Bro . Arthur Briscoe also responded . He said the honour to respond for the Prov . Grand Lodge was new to bim , but
he would do his best to maintain its dignity . joining the . loilge would be ol the right sort and that too much care could not be taken in introducing new members . He was glad to have had two initiates at his installation and he thought they would both make good Masons . Bio . HAMPTON COURT . Crescent Lodge ( No . 788 ) . —The . last regular meeting for the year was held at the Mitre Hotel , on the 25 th ult ., and was favoured with a full attendance of brethren and visitors , among the latter being Bro . Howard H . Room , Prov . G . Sec , the lodge being very pleased to be favoured with his presence . The members present were
Bros . Chas . Gooding , W . M . ; C . Murray , S . W . ; I . M Stedwell , P . P . S . G . W .. Treas ., as J . W . ; F . W . Bate J . D . ; J . P . Mears , I . G . ; S . Larcomb , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C . Sec ; E . E . Vinen , Org . ; J . Beeton , P . M ., P . G . S . S . B . E . T . Edwards , P . M ., P . P . G . S . B . ; and Edwin Lee ! Visitors : Bros . W . Dawson , I . G . 1522 ; E . Ames , P . M , S 60 ; and W . Sandle , 1278 .
The lodge having been opened , the minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed , after which the ordinary busness of the lodge was proceeded with , Bro . Edwin Lee being passed to the Second Degree by the W . M . in a very impressive manner . The W . M . then suggested that in consideration of it being necessary to call an emergency meeting for the purpose of raising Bro . Lee to
the Degree ot M . M ., he thought it would be a splendid opportunity for carrying out what was suggested last year , namely , an occasion for inviting the ladies . He therefore proposed that such meeting should take place on the first Tuesday in September . It was seconded and heartily supported by Bra . Edwards , P . M ., also by all the members present , and it was agreed that a donation should be given
trom the lodge towards the expenses of the day ' s pleasure . The worthy Treas ., Bro . J . M . Stedwell , P . P . S . G . W ., stated he was pleased to say the lodge funds were in such a healthy condition that he thoueht he could readily give his consent to the amount being voted . The other business of the lodge being disposed of , it was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banqueting
room , where justice was done to the good things provided . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , Bro . E . E . Vinen , Org ., having brought one or two friends to emiven the proceedings with choice songs and music , which were much enjoyed by the brethren . In proposing the toast of < -The Grand Officers , " the W . M . stated they were specially favoured that evening by
the presence of the Prov . Grand Sec , Bro . Howard H . Room . He had promised to be present at the installation ceremony , but was unavoidably prevented from attending , and to make up for that disappointment to the lodge he had kindly honoured 'hem with his presence that evening . They had a fair sprinkling of Grand Lodge Officers amung them in some of their Past Masters , and the toast was
always well honoured when left to them to respond ; they were therefore doubly pleased to have the Prov . Grand Sec . with them . After dwelling upon the excellent manner in which the Grand Officers fulfilled their duties , he asked them to be upstanding , and receive the toast with that enthusiasm which it deserved , and he had much pleasure in coupling the name of Bro . Room with the toast of the
Grand Lodge Officers . Replying to the toast , Bro . Room stated that it afforded him gieat pleasure in being present at the Crescent Lodge once again , and was sorry he was unable to be present at the installation . He was very pleased indeed to find such a marked improvement in the condition and working of the lodge to what it was the last time he attended , two years
ago . He was pleased to see the number of members were nearly double since his last visit , and sincerely hoped that it would continue to flourish as it had done this past two years . The Crescent Lodge was always considered one of the best in the province . It had , however , had its little troubles , which he was glad to know it had quite recovered from , and felc sure it would soon take its old position of
being one of the strongest lodges in the province . He had been greatly pleased with the excellent working , also the ellicirnt manner in which the ritual was carried out . He thanked them for the enthusiastic way in which they had received the toast of the Grand Officers , and could assure them he should take an early opportunity of again visiting the lodge .
The toast of " The Past Masters " was next proposed by the W . M ., and ably responded to by Bros . Edwards , P . M ., and Beeton , P . M . In proposing the toast of " The Visitors / ' the W . M . said they were always pleased to receive them , and were favoured that evening with the presence of Bros . Dr . Dawson , 1522 ; E . Ames , P . M . SCo ; and W . Sandle , 1278 . After some further remarks , he asked them to drink
the health of the visitors , and should ask each one to respond individually , which they did in a very able manner . ^ The remaining toasts of the "Treasurer , " " Secretary , and " Ihe Other Officers" were given by the W . M ., in very flattering terms , and responded to by Bros . J . M . btedivelli Treas . ; a . Larcomb , Sec ; C . Murray , S . W . ; and PE . Vinen , Org . . The Tyler ' s toast brought to a clo = e another enjoyable evening of the Crescent Lodge .

P . S . G . the presence of the Prov .
