763 STEWARDS GRAND T OTAL ... ... £ 23 , 037 5 6 Bro . Sir J B . MONCKTON proposed " The Earl of Dartmouth . " He congratulated the Craft at large , and especially the Province of Staffordshire , on the splendid record just announced , the highest , indeed , with the exception of the Centenaries of the Institutions . He wished the Earl of Dartmouth excellent health for many years to come to preside over such an excellent province .
The Earl of DARTMOUTH , in reply , said his task was a somewhat difficult one . He was bound to admit he was overwhelmed at the list , and he did not know where to beg n to express his thanks . It was a small word , but it expressed a great deal . He wished to express his thanks to the province he haa the honour to represent . He had often told them when he went home he was rather a fine fellow ; but in the silent watches of the night he thought it was not what he had done individually , but the support of Freemasonry which produced the splendid results . He said he was the last not to acknowledge the loyalty of his province . He
thanked his Stewards for their support . He fully realised the important work that had fallen on Bro . Hedges , and he congratulated him . He thanked Bro . Heagerty and the All Saints Chapter , and the St . Matthew ' s Lodge , and the Dartmouth Lodge . He was a young Mason , but he tried to do his best even in the working of the ritual .
Bro . Col . WALKER , P . G . S . B ., Dep . P . G . M . Staffs ., then proposed the toast of " The Other Masonic Institutions . " In doing so the gallant brother said he was proud of his province that day for the magnificent contribution they had given to the Institution . He might tell Staffordshire that there
were other Masonic Charities besides the Girls' School . They had done very well in former years , particularly at the Centenary Festival of the Boys' School , but they must not relax their efforts . They must continue to subscribe , and he hoped , if on some future occasion the Prov . Grand Master should preside , they might have as splendid a result as they had had that
day . He was sure the toast needed no words of commendation , and he coupled with it tbe name of Bro . McLeod—a name thoroughly respected by Masons throughout the length and breadth of the land . Bro . MCLEOD , Sec . R . M . I . B ., rejoiced at the excellent result of the efforts of the Stewards on behalf of the Girls' School . Another record
had been realised , and he heartily joined in the congratulations to the Chairman and the province over which he presided , Bro . McLeod made an appeal on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys . The party then adjourned to the Temple , Freemasons' Hall , where a grand entertainment of music was enjoyed . The performers were Madame Amy Sherwin , Miss Greta Williams , Bros . Herbert Em'y'h
