CHESHUNT . —Gresham Lodge ( No . 869 ) . — The first meeting this year of this lodge took place at Cheshunt Great House , Cheshunt Park , on Saturday , the 12 th inst ., under the gavel of Bro . Chas . Arthur Gompertz , P . G . Std . Br ., and a goodly number of the brethren attended . There were two gentlemen proposed , viz ., Mr . Arnold G . Maddox and Mr . Charles E . Everett , both of

whom were initiated into the light of Masonry in a manner that conferred great credit upon the W . M . and his officers . The next business was the election of W . M . for the ensuing year , and the suffrages of the brethren were unanimous in favour of Bro . Philip Sharpe , the present J . W ., a brother who has proved himself a most able officer and excellent worker . This was . followed by the election of

' s jewel be purchased out of the funds of the lodge and presented to the W . M . announcing the fact that he intended to represent the lodge at the forthcoming Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , the lodge having that day placed five guineas on his list . M . of the above influential Iodge , was fully evinced at the usual monthly meeting on the 3 rd inst ., when the large hall of the High School for Boys , at Brookhill , was lined two and three deep with the members of the lodge and visitors from far and near . Penfold said he was glad to respond because it gave him an opportunity of informing the brethren that , in all probability , before their next meeting the corner-stone of their new temple would be laid ; it was an event they were

all looking forward to with pleasurable anticipations , especially as their excellent and distinguished Prov . Grand Master had consented to perform the ceremony . Their VV . M . had spoken of being struck with the business habits of their Prov . Grand Master , and shortly the brethren would have an opportunity of seeing for themselves what a lover of Masonry his lordship was ; while he was quite sure his lordship would be pleased to see such a gathering of the
