Polydore de Keyser , was initiated into Masonry in the Emulation Lodge , No . 21 , on gth May , 1 S 62 , and though his occupations prevented his regular attendance or taking office , he has rer . iained a member of ihe lodge ever since . Un one occasion he presented to the lodge a very handsome set of silver working tools ( manufactured by Bro . George Kenning ) . His
Masonic zeal induced him to become one of tne founders of ihe Macdonald Lodge , No . 1216 , in which he served for two years as Warden . He has also joined the Anglo-American Lodge , No . 2191 , and is a Life Governor ot the Boys' and Girls' Schools ; as already announced he will serve the Stewardship at the approaching Centenary of the latter Institution .
CHRISTMAS MARKETS . —The well-known meat , poultry , fish , and wine departments of Messrs . Spiers and Pond , close to Ludgate-hill Station , present a very festive appearance at this time of year , with their magnificent display of all the good things of the season . At this Christmas the enterprising linn has extended its operations . Between the meat shop and the lish and poultry shop there
are now grocery and provision stores , where , without paying lor tickets , the public can shop on better terms than at the co-operative societies , with free delivery oi goods , and the convenience , if they choose , of opening deposit accounts . It is obvious that a firm with upwards of three hundred establishments , can buy in the cheapest and best markets , and thus offer exceptional advantages to those who deal with them .
Forty ofthe Christ ' s Hospital boys on the Royal foundation of King Charles II . attended at Windsor Castle on Saturday last , lor the purpose of exhibiting their charts and drawings to the Queen , and her Majesty was attended by the Dowager Lady Churchill ( Lady-in-vVaitmg ) , Bro . the Earl of Lathom ( Lord Chamberlain ) , Bro . Lord Henniker ( Lord-in-Waiting ) , and other members of the
household , while the boys were accompanied and introduced by Bro . J . Derby Allciott , Treasurer of the school , and sundry of the Masters and Governors . Her Majesty was pleased to express her approbation of the work done by the boys , and selected certain of the drawings , after which luncheon was served to the party in the drawing room .
On Saturday last the Prince of Wales visited the People ' s Palace at Mile End for the purpose of opening the Apprentices' Exhibition , and delivered an address on the advantages of technical education . A guard of honour of the 24 th Middlesex ( Post Office ) Volunteers received his Royal Highness , and Bros , the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs Higgs and Davis were among the distinguished personages
present . The Prince was able to announce that the Drapers ' Company had offered a gift of £ 40 , 000 from their corporate funds , in addition to £ 20 , 000 for building the Technical Schools , towards promoting this necessary branch of education , and that the Ironmongers' Company had expressed their willingness to co-operate in the good work by
iounding an institute of the same character in some other part of London . These announcements were greeted with applause , and a vote of thanks having been passed by acclamation , his Royal Highness quitted the building , and left for Marlborough House amid the heartiest demonstrations of loyalty .

Sir Knight , it will be remembered , was installed in his high office on August 4 th last at a Provincial Priory holden at East Stonehouse by Colonel Adair , and as the National Great Priory had not since met homage had not heretofore been
paid . The meeting was numerously attended , and the Great Priory presented a very animated appearance . Colonel Shadwell H . Clerke , Grand Sub-Prior , presided , and was supported by some of the most influential Freemasons ot the High Degrees . Ihe new Provincial Prior having been announced as waiting outside the priory to do

The Lord Mayor , Bro . Polydore de Keyser , was initiated into Masonry in the Emulation Lodge , No . 21 , on gth May , 1 S 62 , and though his occupations prevented his regular attendance or taking office , he has rer . iained a member of ihe lodge ever since . Un one occasion he presented to the lodge a very handsome set of silver working tools ( manufactured by Bro . George Kenning ) . His
Masonic zeal induced him to become one of tne founders of ihe Macdonald Lodge , No . 1216 , in which he served for two years as Warden . He has also joined the Anglo-American Lodge , No . 2191 , and is a Life Governor ot the Boys' and Girls' Schools ; as already announced he will serve the Stewardship at the approaching Centenary of the latter Institution .
CHRISTMAS MARKETS . —The well-known meat , poultry , fish , and wine departments of Messrs . Spiers and Pond , close to Ludgate-hill Station , present a very festive appearance at this time of year , with their magnificent display of all the good things of the season . At this Christmas the enterprising linn has extended its operations . Between the meat shop and the lish and poultry shop there
are now grocery and provision stores , where , without paying lor tickets , the public can shop on better terms than at the co-operative societies , with free delivery oi goods , and the convenience , if they choose , of opening deposit accounts . It is obvious that a firm with upwards of three hundred establishments , can buy in the cheapest and best markets , and thus offer exceptional advantages to those who deal with them .
Forty ofthe Christ ' s Hospital boys on the Royal foundation of King Charles II . attended at Windsor Castle on Saturday last , lor the purpose of exhibiting their charts and drawings to the Queen , and her Majesty was attended by the Dowager Lady Churchill ( Lady-in-vVaitmg ) , Bro . the Earl of Lathom ( Lord Chamberlain ) , Bro . Lord Henniker ( Lord-in-Waiting ) , and other members of the
household , while the boys were accompanied and introduced by Bro . J . Derby Allciott , Treasurer of the school , and sundry of the Masters and Governors . Her Majesty was pleased to express her approbation of the work done by the boys , and selected certain of the drawings , after which luncheon was served to the party in the drawing room .
On Saturday last the Prince of Wales visited the People ' s Palace at Mile End for the purpose of opening the Apprentices' Exhibition , and delivered an address on the advantages of technical education . A guard of honour of the 24 th Middlesex ( Post Office ) Volunteers received his Royal Highness , and Bros , the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs Higgs and Davis were among the distinguished personages
present . The Prince was able to announce that the Drapers ' Company had offered a gift of £ 40 , 000 from their corporate funds , in addition to £ 20 , 000 for building the Technical Schools , towards promoting this necessary branch of education , and that the Ironmongers' Company had expressed their willingness to co-operate in the good work by
iounding an institute of the same character in some other part of London . These announcements were greeted with applause , and a vote of thanks having been passed by acclamation , his Royal Highness quitted the building , and left for Marlborough House amid the heartiest demonstrations of loyalty .

proposal to open a line of railway communicating with Hyderabad , and so increasing the importance of Karachi , as the port of Upper India and developing it into one of the first magnitude , was Bro . inst ., in his character of Provincial Prior of Devonshire Knight Templars , to do homage to the National Great Priory on his recent appointment . The Rev . Sir Knight , it will be remembered , was installed in his high office on August 4 th last at a Provincial Priory holden at East Stonehouse by Colonel Adair , and as the National Great Priory had not since met homage had not heretofore been
paid . The meeting was numerously attended , and the Great Priory presented a very animated appearance . Colonel Shadwell H . Clerke , Grand Sub-Prior , presided , and was supported by some of the most influential Freemasons ot the High Degrees . Ihe new Provincial Prior having been announced as waiting outside the priory to do
his homage , he was admitted , accompanied by Sir Knights Keats , his Swd . Br . ; Coffin , Banner Br . ; VV . G . Lemon , Grand Aide-de-camp ; and others .
