Bro . Geo . Gregory , W . AL , said he was much obliged to the I . P . M . for the manner in which he had introduced the toast , and the brethren for the reception of it . He considered it a very great honour to find himself in the chair of his mother lodge . During the time he had been in the Mark Degree he had taken a great interest in it , and had endeavoured to perform the duties of every office to the best of his ability , and judging from the kind reception
given him , he felt somewhat that he had succeeded . He should continue on those lines , and hoped at the end of his year the members would be able to receive the toast of the I . P . M . with the same enthusiasm . There was a toast he thought should be presented next , which was the health of the distinguished brother who was away from his own lodge in Singapore—Bro . Thompson—and who had been installed in the chair that evening . He congratulated Bro . Thompson
on attaining the chair of his own lodge , although at a distance . Bro . Thompson said he had experienced nothing but the greatest hospitality during his visit to England . Without their kindness _ that evening he should have gone back as W . M . elect , without anyone to install him on his arrival . That kindness had impressed him , and the remembrance would be lasting , for he should never forget his installation .
He would call an early meeting of his lodge on his return to Singapore in November , and would take good care it was placed on the minutes , so that there would be a record of the kindness shown to that lodge so far distant . Bro . T . C . Edmonds , LP . M ., replied for "The Past Masters , " and said he considered it a great honour to be a Past "Master of that lodge . He was deeply indebted to
the Secretary for many courtesies during the past year and a vast amount of advice . His thanks were also due to the officers for the assistance they had rendered . " The Advancee " having been honoured , Bros . E . Storr and Voisey responded for " The Visitors . " After " The Officers , " the Tyler ' s toast concluded a very pleasant and enjoyable meeting .

Hertford , who is the lirst and only honorary Past Alaster of this lodge , upon the near attainment of the majority of his eldest son the Earl of Yarmouth . The proposition , which has been entered upon the minutes of the lodge , and will be transmitted to the Most Noble brother in a suitable form , was as follows : " That the lodge offers its respectful congratulations to the Pro Grand Alaster , the Alost Noble the Alarquess of Hertford , Honorary Past Master of
the lodge upon the attainment of the majority of his eldest son , the Right Honourable the Earl of Yarmouth , and desires to express to the Noble Alarquess and to the Noble Earl the sincerest and fraternal wishes of the brethren for their future health and happiness . W . ; Walter
Waters , J . W . ; and several other officers and brethren of the lodge . He also expressed a hope that
the Honourable Earl would see fit some time to walk in the footsteps Alasonically of his father . These sentiments were echoed again and again throughout the lodge . It was afterwards suggested that the resolution should be left in the hands of the W . M . and Bro . Sir James Sawyer , to be transmitted to the Noble Alarquess in a suitable form .

Bro. Lane's Centenary Medals.
BRO . LANE'S CENTENARY MEDALS .
" There has recently been published by George Kenning , of London , a very valuable little work b y Wor . John Lane , which describes the special centenary medals worn by those lodges which have secured the necessary permission before the passage of a law adopting a uniform pattern for such jewels
The volume is illustrated by a frontispiece , in colour , showing the ordinary , or regulation , centenary jewel , and by 12 lithographic plates , showing 48 of the special medals or jewels . Mr . Hughan gives in his Introduction a very interesting account of the difficulties which attended the preparation of Mr . Lane ' s volume , which , like all his work , is very carefully and thoroughly done .
To this handsome little book ( a . large i 2 mo ., of 128 pages , besides the plates ) I am indebted for the additional descriptions now given . The historical sketches of these old English lodges are most interesting , their only fault being they are too brief ; but they are sufficiently full to show the title of the various lodges to
their jewels . The history is so attractive as to make us wish for more . I am indebted to Mr . Hughan for a copy of this work , as well as for many other similar favours , in preparing my notes on English Masonic Medals . "— "American journal of Numismatics , " edited by Bro . W . T . R . W . ; Walter
Waters , J . W . ; and several other officers and brethren of the lodge . Sir James Sawyer testified in eulogistic terms to the happy connection of the Alost Noble Alarquess with the Lodge of Charity , and to thc condescension , brotherly love , and affability always displayed by him , not only to the brethren of the lodge , but to everyone of the brethren in Warwickshire .
