Bro . the Rev . R . H . Bullock was unanimously elected to represent this district at the Jubilee meeting proposed to be held in London . A new Institution for concentrating and extending the

voting power of this district in the Masonic Chanties , and styled the " Malta Masonic Charities Association , " was unanimously adopted by District Grand Lodge . Fifteen pounds was then granted from the Fund of General Purposes to assist the Antient Carthage Lodge , No . 1717 , E . C , towards replacing its regalia , & c , the whole of which , together with furniture , records , & C , was totally destroyed by fire recently .

District Grand Lodge was then closed in due lorm , and the brethren adjourned to an excellently appointed supper . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and responded to in a right cordial manner . Bro . Col . Ramsay responded for that of "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , and Grand Lodges ; " Bro . Watson for

that of " District and Provincial Grand Lodges and Private Lodges" working under their banners ; "The Past Officers of District Grand Lodge " was responded to by Bro . R . J . W . Coward , P . D . G . Reg . j and that of " The Newly-Appointed Officers , " by Bro . J . W . Starkey , D . S . G . W . "The Success of the Masonic Charities" found

a warm response from Bro . Ramsay , P . D . G . M . for Punjab , who in most eloquent terms dilated upon the excellences of these Institutions . Bro . J . Montgomery , D . G . Sec , replied on behalf of the newly-formed " Malta Masonic Charities Association , " and earnestly appealed to the brethren for support . Bro . Col . J . W . Murray , D . C . G ., responded for " The Visitors , " and the Tyler ' s toast brought ' 0 a close one of the most pleasant and successful Masonic Meetings held in Malta .

M ., presided at the ™ th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Alabama , held in Montgomery on the 6-Sth December , 1886 , we representatives of 160 lodges , in addition to the Grand and many Past Grand Officers , being present . The address which

" ¦ - was chiefly of local interest—revealed with pride « ie fact that the Grand Treasurer had held his office for ! 7 years , and the Grand Secretary for 20 years . GRAND CHAPTER OF IOWA . The latest statistics show that in the jurisdiction of the Grand Chapter of Iowa there are 105 chapters , with an aggregate membership of 6 375 , being an increase of 141 over the previous year . The total fund , including receipts

473 6 dollars , amounted to 4954 dollars , and the disbursements to 47 S 6 . The invested moneys of the Grand Chapter amount to 6500 dollars ( £ 1300 ) . Comp . T . R . Ercanbrack is G . H . P . for the year , and Comp . John C . Parish , G . Secretary .

GRAND LODGE OF SOUTH CAROLINA . The noth annual communication of this Grand Lodge was held in Charleston on the 14 th and 15 th December last . Bro . J . Adger Smyth , M . W . G . M ., presided , and 136 out of the 167 lodges in the jurisdiction were represented . The address dealt fully with the events of the past year , the deaths of Bro . Wilmot G . Dessaussure , Past G . M ., and

other Grand Officers being very gracefully alluded to . The total membership is returned at 5233 dollars , the receipts and disbursements being 14 , 331 dollars and 13 , 16 9 dollars respectively , and the total debt of Grand Lodge close on 32 , 504 dollars ( £ 6500 ) . BRO . WALTER THOMPSON , P . M ., P . Z . 340 . The Province of Oxfordshire has sustained a great loss through the death , on the ist instant , at the comparatively errly age of 4 6 years , of Bro . Walter Thompson , Solicitor , Oxford , son of Bro . William Thompson , a former P . M . of the Alfred Lodge , No . 340 , Oxford , and Treasurer of Apollo University , No . 357 . The deceased was initiated

into Freemasonry in the Alfred Lodge in 1 S 60 , and served the office of W . M . in the years iS 74 and 1875 . In 1 S 68 he was appointed Prov . Grand Sword Bearer , in 1 S 74 Prov . Grand Registrar , and in 1 S 77 Prov . J . Grand Warden . He was also a joining member of Churchill Lodge , No . 478 . In 1864 he was exalted to the R . A . Degree in the Alfred Chapter , and successively occupied the chairs of J .,

H ., and Z . in 1876 , 1877 , and 1878 . In 1884 he was Prov . G . Asst . Soj . He was also a Knight Templar , and Past E . P . of the Cceurde Lion Preceptory , a Past S . G . O . of Berks and Oxon in 1 S 81 , and W . M . elect of the University Lodge of Mark Master Masons , No . 55 , Oxford , and a Sovereign Prince Rose Croix iS ° in the Ancient and Accepted Rite . Lastly , he had qualified as a Life Governor

of and served as Festival Steward for our Boys' and Benevolent Institutions . The death of one who had achieved so much , and from whom , having regard to his years , we might have looked for further work ot a like honourable character is , we repeat , a serious loss to the Province . of Oxfordshire , and we offer to its members , as well as to the friends and relatives of our late brother , oursincerest and most respectful sympathy .

M . O ., assisted by Bro . Frank Smith , P . M . 352 . Bro . Carl Rosa has been providing good entertainment for his patrons at the Court Theatre , Liverpool ;

"La Bearnaise" proving very attractive . On Good Friday , Rossini ' s "Stabat Mater" was given and a selection of sacred music . Bro . C . E . Ferry , P . M . and P . Z . 65 , who has for the last five years filled the office of Secretary to the Perseverance Lodge , 1743 , was , on Saturday last , elected to the chair of W . M . The installation will take place at

Anderton ' s Hotel in September next . "ICenning ' s Illustrated Catalogue of Masonic Clothing and Jewels . " ( London : George Kenning , Little Britain , E . C . )—We have received a copy of a new edition of this comprehensive price list , which is known—or if not , ought to be—to every lodge'in the universe . It is admirably got up and is most complete in every detail . —Money

Bro . John Sartain , of Philadelphia , U . S . A ., the Chief of the Bureau of Arts of the American Exhibition , arrived in London a few days since . Bro . Sartain is nearly So years of age , and is still hale and vigorous . He is the oldest steel engraver in America , and has been actively identified with the growth of American art for more than 50 years . As a writer on art topics , as President

of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts , and as Chief of the Bureau of Fine Arts at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1 S 76 , he has acquired a knowledge and experience which will be invaluable in his present position . The works of American art personally selected by him are now on their way to London , and comprise the largest collection of American works ever exhibited in Europe .

THE CHILDREN S CELEBRATION OF THE QUEEN ' S J UBILEE . —We learn that thei Editor of Little Folks magazine has , during the past few days , received many thousand literary , artistic , and other contributions from children residing in Great Britain and the Colonies in connection with the special scheme which he inaugurated to enable girls and boys to take part in the Jubilee

Celebration . The competitors range in age from four to sixteen years , and the list of successful candidates , together with various selections from their work , will appear in the number of Little Folks magazine published during the Jubilee week . There have been grand festivities in Amsterdam in honour of the 70 th birthday of Bro . the King of the Netherlands , who was born in 1817 , andsucceeded his father , William II ., in 1848 . The Grand Lodge of Kansas will hold its next annual communication in Junction City on the third Wednesday in February , iSSS , Bro . H . C . Cook is the present M . W . G . M ., and Bro . J . H . Brown , G . Secretary .

A memorial building to the late Duke of Buccleuch was opened by the Duchess of Buccleuch at Hawick , yesterday ( Thursday ) . It gives accomodation for the Science and Art classes and the Archaeological Museum . We understand that a Masonic Jubilee Ball will take place at the Music Hall , Canterbury , on the 12 th May next . The three local lodges will amalgamate for the occasion , and the invitations will be extended to those outside

the Masonic body . The ball will be under distinguished patronage . The Prov . Grand Mark Master for Devonshire , R . W . Bro . Lieut .-Col . J . Tanner Davy , has issued a summons for holding the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge of this year in the Masonic Hall , at Seaton , on the 26 th inst . In addition to the usual business , there will be the consecration and dedication of the new Lodge De la Pole , No . 372 .

The Masonic Review of Cincinnati records the death , early in January of the current year , of Bro . Saml . Wilson , a former Junior Grand Warden and Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Vermont , Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter , and Past Grand Lecturer to the Grand Council of the Cryptic Rite . Bro . Wilson had attained the ripe age of 96 years , and was initiated into Masonry in 1815 .

The members of the Boston Commandery of Knights Templar , under their Eminent Commander , Sir Knight Eugene H . Richards , celebrated the S 5 th anniversary of the constitution of their commandery at the Oddfellows' Hall , Boston , Mass ., on the nth March , among the

principal guests being R . E . Sir Knight Edward P . Chapin , Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Massachusetts and Rhode Island , to whom a hearty and fraternal reception was accorded . Several ladies were also present on the occasion .

The refreshment department at the Liverpool Exhibition will be under the management of Messrs . Spiers and Pond , and as there is to be an old Lancashire village they should be allowed to fit up an old English inn . Visitors to South Kensington will remember how popular the Cock

Tavern was in Old London , with its neat handmaidens in Puritan dresses . The inn at Liverpool should , of course , have the ancient sign of " The Eagle and Child , " the wellknown crest of the great Lancashire family of Stanley , represented by the Earl of Derby .

Bro . Edward Terry is honoured at Barnes . Forthe seventh year in succession he has been returned as the Guardian for the parish , yesterday being placed at the head of the poll . Bro . Terry is now quite a parochial character . As "The Churchwarden" he was an inimitable official .

We are requested to remind our Norfolk brethren of the meeting of the Cabbell Lodge , No . 807 , to be held at 43 , St . Giles's-street , Norwich , on Monday next , the iSth inst ., when Bro . James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., is to deliver his lecture on "The Ritual and Ceremonial of the Symbolic Degrees of Freemasonry , 1813-86 . " The lecture is announced for 7 p . m ., the Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . J . B . Aldis , presiding .

The annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba was held in Winnipeg on the 9 th February last under the presidency of Bro . Pearson , M . W . G . M . Of the thirty lodges in the jurisdiction , no less than twenty-six sent representatives , while every lodge had sent in its

returns , and with one solitary exception paid its dues . The Grand Master , in the course of his address , said that he had granted dispensations for seven new lodges , and that he had appointed representatives near several foreign Grand Lodges , England having agreed upon an interchange of representatives . The address was very enthusiastically received .

A new Mark lodge—to be styled the Invicta Lodge , No . 378—will be consecrated at the Bank-street Hall , Ashford , on Wednesday next , the 20 th instant . The ceremony will be performed by R . W . Bro . the Rev . Thos . Robinson , Provincial Grand Mark Master of Kent , who will be assisted by Bros , the Rev . Hayman Cummings , M . A . Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Past Grand

The steamship State of Nebraska sailed from New York on Thursday , the 31 st ult ., at 10 a . m . She brings direct to London all the pictures for the Art Gallery of the American Exhibition , in charge of Bro . John Sartain , Chief of the Art Department . A large number of machinery exhibits are included in her cargo which is completed by Buffalo Bill and the Wild West .

This latter comprises 97 Indians , 100 cowboys and scouts , and 250 animals . The scene when they left New York was most remarkable . Over 10 , 000 people assembled in the streets adjoining the pier , and a flotilla of over 100 steamboats , yachts , tugs , & c , accompanied them down New

York bay . Prior to sailing Buffalo Bill was presented with a gold jewelled sword by the officers of the United States Army , with whom he served , and was appointed by the Governor of the State of Nebraska , where his home is , - Colonel and Aide-de-Camp on his staff . The steamer is expected to arrive in London early next week .

Bro . the Rev . R . H . Bullock was unanimously elected to represent this district at the Jubilee meeting proposed to be held in London . A new Institution for concentrating and extending the

voting power of this district in the Masonic Chanties , and styled the " Malta Masonic Charities Association , " was unanimously adopted by District Grand Lodge . Fifteen pounds was then granted from the Fund of General Purposes to assist the Antient Carthage Lodge , No . 1717 , E . C , towards replacing its regalia , & c , the whole of which , together with furniture , records , & C , was totally destroyed by fire recently .

District Grand Lodge was then closed in due lorm , and the brethren adjourned to an excellently appointed supper . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and responded to in a right cordial manner . Bro . Col . Ramsay responded for that of "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , and Grand Lodges ; " Bro . Watson for

that of " District and Provincial Grand Lodges and Private Lodges" working under their banners ; "The Past Officers of District Grand Lodge " was responded to by Bro . R . J . W . Coward , P . D . G . Reg . j and that of " The Newly-Appointed Officers , " by Bro . J . W . Starkey , D . S . G . W . "The Success of the Masonic Charities" found

a warm response from Bro . Ramsay , P . D . G . M . for Punjab , who in most eloquent terms dilated upon the excellences of these Institutions . Bro . J . Montgomery , D . G . Sec , replied on behalf of the newly-formed " Malta Masonic Charities Association , " and earnestly appealed to the brethren for support . Bro . Col . J . W . Murray , D . C . G ., responded for " The Visitors , " and the Tyler ' s toast brought ' 0 a close one of the most pleasant and successful Masonic Meetings held in Malta .

GRAND CHAPTER OF IOWA . The latest statistics show that in the jurisdiction of the Grand Chapter of Iowa there are 105 chapters , with an aggregate membership of 6 375 , being an increase of 141 over the previous year . The total fund , including receipts

473 6 dollars , amounted to 4954 dollars , and the disbursements to 47 S 6 . The invested moneys of the Grand Chapter amount to 6500 dollars ( £ 1300 ) . Comp . T . R . Ercanbrack is G . H . P . for the year , and Comp . John C . Parish , G . Secretary .

GRAND LODGE OF SOUTH CAROLINA . The noth annual communication of this Grand Lodge was held in Charleston on the 14 th and 15 th December last . Bro . J . Adger Smyth , M . W . G . M ., presided , and 136 out of the 167 lodges in the jurisdiction were represented . The address dealt fully with the events of the past year , the deaths of Bro . Wilmot G . Dessaussure , Past G . M ., and

other Grand Officers being very gracefully alluded to . The total membership is returned at 5233 dollars , the receipts and disbursements being 14 , 331 dollars and 13 , 16 9 dollars respectively , and the total debt of Grand Lodge close on 32 , 504 dollars ( £ 6500 ) . BRO . WALTER THOMPSON , P . M ., P . Z . 340 . The Province of Oxfordshire has sustained a great loss through the death , on the ist instant , at the comparatively errly age of 4 6 years , of Bro . Walter Thompson , Solicitor , Oxford , son of Bro . William Thompson , a former P . M . of the Alfred Lodge , No . 340 , Oxford , and Treasurer of Apollo University , No . 357 . The deceased was initiated

into Freemasonry in the Alfred Lodge in 1 S 60 , and served the office of W . M . in the years iS 74 and 1875 . In 1 S 68 he was appointed Prov . Grand Sword Bearer , in 1 S 74 Prov . Grand Registrar , and in 1 S 77 Prov . J . Grand Warden . He was also a joining member of Churchill Lodge , No . 478 . In 1864 he was exalted to the R . A . Degree in the Alfred Chapter , and successively occupied the chairs of J .,

H ., and Z . in 1876 , 1877 , and 1878 . In 1884 he was Prov . G . Asst . Soj . He was also a Knight Templar , and Past E . P . of the Cceurde Lion Preceptory , a Past S . G . O . of Berks and Oxon in 1 S 81 , and W . M . elect of the University Lodge of Mark Master Masons , No . 55 , Oxford , and a Sovereign Prince Rose Croix iS ° in the Ancient and Accepted Rite . Lastly , he had qualified as a Life Governor

of and served as Festival Steward for our Boys' and Benevolent Institutions . Bro . John Sartain , of Philadelphia , U . S . A ., the Chief of the Bureau of Arts of the American Exhibition , arrived in London a few days since . Bro . Sartain is nearly So years of age , and is still hale and vigorous . He is the oldest steel engraver in America , and has been actively identified with the growth of American art for more than 50 years . As a writer on art topics , as President

of the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts , and as Chief of the Bureau of Fine Arts at the Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition in 1 S 76 , he has acquired a knowledge and experience which will be invaluable in his present position . The works of American art personally selected by him are now on their way to London , and comprise the largest collection of American works ever exhibited in Europe .

THE CHILDREN S CELEBRATION OF THE QUEEN ' S J UBILEE . —We learn that thei Editor of Little Folks magazine has , during the past few days , received many thousand literary , artistic , and other contributions from children residing in Great Britain and the Colonies in connection with the special scheme which he inaugurated to enable girls and boys to take part in the Jubilee

Celebration . The competitors range in age from four to sixteen years , and the list of successful candidates , together with various selections from their work , will appear in the number of Little Folks magazine published during the Jubilee week . There have been grand festivities in Amsterdam in honour of the 70 th birthday of Bro . the King of the Netherlands , who was born in 1817 , andsucceeded his father , William II ., in 1848 . The Grand Lodge of Kansas will hold its next annual communication in Junction City on the third Wednesday in February , iSSS , Bro . H . C . Cook is the present M . W . G . M ., and Bro . J . H . Brown , G . Secretary .

A memorial building to the late Duke of Buccleuch was opened by the Duchess of Buccleuch at Hawick , yesterday ( Thursday ) . It gives accomodation for the Science and Art classes and the Archaeological Museum . We understand that a Masonic Jubilee Ball will take place at the Music Hall , Canterbury , on the 12 th May next . The three local lodges will amalgamate for the occasion , and the invitations will be extended to those outside

the Masonic body . The ball will be under distinguished patronage . The Prov . Grand Mark Master for Devonshire , R . W . Bro . Lieut .-Col . J . Tanner Davy , has issued a summons for holding the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge of this year in the Masonic Hall , at Seaton , on the 26 th inst . In addition to the usual business , there will be the consecration and dedication of the new Lodge De la Pole , No . 372 .

The Masonic Review of Cincinnati records the death , early in January of the current year , of Bro . Saml . Wilson , a former Junior Grand Warden and Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Vermont , Past Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter , and Past Grand Lecturer to the Grand Council of the Cryptic Rite . Bro . Wilson had attained the ripe age of 96 years , and was initiated into Masonry in 1815 .

The members of the Boston Commandery of Knights Templar , under their Eminent Commander , Sir Knight Eugene H . Richards , celebrated the S 5 th anniversary of the constitution of their commandery at the Oddfellows' Hall , Boston , Mass ., on the nth March , among the

principal guests being R . E . Sir Knight Edward P . Chapin , Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Massachusetts and Rhode Island , to whom a hearty and fraternal reception was accorded . Several ladies were also present on the occasion .

The refreshment department at the Liverpool Exhibition will be under the management of Messrs . Spiers and Pond , and as there is to be an old Lancashire village they should be allowed to fit up an old English inn . Visitors to South Kensington will remember how popular the Cock

Tavern was in Old London , with its neat handmaidens in Puritan dresses . The inn at Liverpool should , of course , have the ancient sign of " The Eagle and Child , " the wellknown crest of the great Lancashire family of Stanley , represented by the Earl of Derby .

Bro . Edward Terry is honoured at Barnes . Forthe seventh year in succession he has been returned as the Guardian for the parish , yesterday being placed at the head of the poll . Bro . Terry is now quite a parochial character . As "The Churchwarden" he was an inimitable official .

We are requested to remind our Norfolk brethren of the meeting of the Cabbell Lodge , No . 807 , to be held at 43 , St . Giles's-street , Norwich , on Monday next , the iSth inst ., when Bro . James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., is to deliver his lecture on "The Ritual and Ceremonial of the Symbolic Degrees of Freemasonry , 1813-86 . " The lecture is announced for 7 p . m ., the Provincial Grand Secretary , Bro . J . B . Aldis , presiding .

The annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba was held in Winnipeg on the 9 th February last under the presidency of Bro . Pearson , M . W . G . M . Of the thirty lodges in the jurisdiction , no less than twenty-six sent representatives , while every lodge had sent in its

returns , and with one solitary exception paid its dues . The Grand Master , in the course of his address , said that he had granted dispensations for seven new lodges , and that he had appointed representatives near several foreign Grand Lodges , England having agreed upon an interchange of representatives . The address was very enthusiastically received .

A new Mark lodge—to be styled the Invicta Lodge , No . 378—will be consecrated at the Bank-street Hall , Ashford , on Wednesday next , the 20 th instant . The ceremony will be performed by R . W . Bro . the Rev . Thos . Robinson , Provincial Grand Mark Master of Kent , who will be assisted by Bros , the Rev . Hayman Cummings , M . A . Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Past Grand

The steamship State of Nebraska sailed from New York on Thursday , the 31 st ult ., at 10 a . m . She brings direct to London all the pictures for the Art Gallery of the American Exhibition , in charge of Bro . John Sartain , Chief of the Art Department . A large number of machinery exhibits are included in her cargo which is completed by Buffalo Bill and the Wild West .

This latter comprises 97 Indians , 100 cowboys and scouts , and 250 animals . The scene when they left New York was most remarkable . Over 10 , 000 people assembled in the streets adjoining the pier , and a flotilla of over 100 steamboats , yachts , tugs , & c , accompanied them down New

York bay . Prior to sailing Buffalo Bill was presented with a gold jewelled sword by the officers of the United States Army , with whom he served , and was appointed by the Governor of the State of Nebraska , where his home is , - Colonel and Aide-de-Camp on his staff . The steamer is expected to arrive in London early next week .
