array of toasts pertinently but commendably brief . Some , very good speeches were made during the evening , notably those of Comps . G . Everett , P . Z ., and J . Terry , P . Z . The latter gave an interesting account of the proceedings of the last Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and announced amidst applause that he believed

that by the 31 st December next nearly £ 25 , 000 will be recorded as the outcome of the festival of 1887 . The proceedings of the chapter and banquet were throughout of a most enjoyable nature , and the M . E . Z ., Treasurer , and Scribe E . are to be congratulated on the _ success attending their labours .

LIVERPOOL—De Grey and Ripon Chapter ( No . 1356 ) . —The installation of the Principals in this chapter , which had to be partly postponed on account of the death of the lamented Third Principal elect , Comp . Thos . Wright , was completed on Wednesday evening , the 6 th inst ., when Comp . E . Paull , having been unanimously elected , was duly installed Third Principal of the chapter by the Installing Officer , Comp . A . D . Hesketh , P . Z .

Sec , presented the Provincial Grand Officers present with

their certificates , and subsequently called the brethren ' s attention to the necessity of the province being represented by a Steward at the next Grand Mark Festival in July—it being the year of Jubilee—and he hoped the members of the Derwent Lodge would give their able support to make the list a credit to Cumberland and Westmorland . " Hearty good wishes " were then given from Lodges 151

and 213 , and the lodge was closed in form , and Bro . Thompson invited all present to the Green Dragon Hotel , where refreshments were provided . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and ably responded to , and a very pleasant evening spent . Bro . Ryrie , W . M . The latter gave an interesting account of the proceedings of the last Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution , and announced amidst applause that he believed

that by the 31 st December next nearly £ 25 , 000 will be recorded as the outcome of the festival of 1887 . The proceedings of the chapter and banquet were throughout of a most enjoyable nature , and the M . E . Z ., Treasurer , and Scribe E . are to be congratulated on the _ success attending their labours .
