Nicholls having offered himself as candidate , the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed . The W . M . rose for the first time , when the S . W was unanimously elected VV . M . for the ensuing week , and

the officers were appointed in rotation . On the W . M . rising for the third time , it was proposed that the Secretary should write to the Preceptor asking his attendance , which was carried , also that Bro . Gittens , W . M . of the mother lodge , should rehearse the ceremony of installation at the next meeting , which was likewise carried unanimously . All business being ended , the lodge was closed .

WESTBOURNE LODGE ( No . 733 ) . —After a period of six years in repose , this lodge was very successfully resuscitated and opened in full working order by Bro . Burton , W . M . of the mother lodge , on Friday , the 7 th inst ., at the Swiss Cottage Tavern , St . John ' s Wood , it having been removed thither from Lord ' s Hotel , St . John ' s Wood-road .

After the usual formal , business had been gone through , the lodge was opened in the First Degree . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Reelands kindly offering himself as candidate . The following brethren were elected and appointed as officers : Bros . C . Wise , P . M ., Preceptor ; E . VV . Hughes , Hon . Treas . ( p 0 tern . ) and C . Deleay , Hon . Sec . ( protein . ) Upon these brethren accepting office , Bro .

Burton said that in electing Bro . Wise , P . M ., as Preceptor , he felt sure that no better choice could have been made throughout Lonc ' o 1 , for he really believed Bro . Wise must have made Freemasonry a whole life study . Of the other newlyelected officers , he felt that from what he had that evening seen of them that ; they were both energetic and capable of carrying out the duties allotted to them . Bro . C . Wise ,

P . M . and Preceptor , replied to the VV . M . and brethren in a very neat and suitable address , thanking them all for the honour conferred upon him , and expressing his willingness to at all times , whenever possible , place himself in such a position as to afford that teaching and learning which every brother Mason is so anxious to obtain . Upon the business of the evening being completed , the lodge was closed in

the usual manner , and the brethren present met for refreshment . The toast of "The Queen and the Craft" was most enthusiastically received . Bro . Burton , in a very neat speech , proposed the toast of "Success of the Lodge of Instruction , " coupling with it the name of Bro . Wise , P . M . and Preceptor ,

and at the same time remarking upon the fact that that day might , he thought , reasonably be considered a red-letter day in the annals of the lodge , it being exactly six years that very day since the lodge was last closed at Lord ' s Hotel . The lodge was a very old one , having been formed in 1 S 5 S . The Worshipful Master then proposed " The Health

of Bro . Hughes , the worthy Host , " who had so kindly placed a beautifully select room at their disposal , and had most elegantly furnished it with every necessary and convenience . Bro . Hughes replied in a very able manner , stating he felt that in doing what he had done he was only trying to do his duty as a brother Mason and for the love of the Order , and he sincerely hoped that his small efforts would

be attended with success . After a few more remarks from the brethren present , followed by the usual toasts , they all dispersed , after having spent a most enjoyable evening . This lodge will in future meet at the Swiss Cottage Tavern , St . John ' s Wood , N . W ., every Friday evening , at S p . m . All communications may be addressed to the Hon .
