HENLEY LODGE ( No . 1472 ) . —An emergency meeting of the above lodge was held at the Three Crowns , North Woolwich , on the 4 th inst ., Bro . J . A . Elder , W . M ., in the chair , supported by the following officers and brethren : Bros . E . West , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C . Herts ; VV . Vance , P . M . ; VV . T . Turner , P . M . ; J . Burgess , P . M . ; V . 1 . Holloway , S . VV . ; C . T . Lewis , J . W . ; J . Ives , P . M .

The lodge having been duly opened and the minutes of the previous meeting passed , the ballot was taken for Messrs . C . Turner , C . J . Jones , C . VV . Humphrey , and C . G . Harding , and being unanimous , those gentlemen were initiated in the Craft by the VV . M . in a most able
manner . Bros . Knight , Lewis , and Tulford were also raised by the W . M . lt was then unanimously decided that a summer banquet should take place at Gravesend on the third Tuesday of the current month , and a Committee comprising thc principal officers of the lodge , with Bros . Savage and Lewis , were empowered to make the necessary
arrangements . The lodge was then closed , and one of Bro . West ' s petite suppers enjoyed . On account of the lateness of the hour before the work was done , there was no time for more than a parting glass , and then thc brethren went their several ways , with pleasant anticipations of an enjoyable outing on the date above mentioned .
TREDEGAR LODGE ( No . 1625 ) . —An emergency meeting of this lodge was called for Monday , the 3 rd inst ., at Bro . A . Yates' Royal Hotel , Mile End Road , E . Bro . Maud , VV . M . opened the lodge supported by Bros . E . I . Anning , P . M ., S . VV . ; A . Deason , J . W . ; G . Ward Verry , P . NL , Sec ; VV . H . Hubbert , S . D . ; R . Sly , J . D . ; Rundell , LG . ; C . Kendall , I . P . M . ; R . E . Jones , and others . The visitors were Bros . T . J . Barnes , P . M . 554
and 933 ; B . Stewart , 127 S ; and W . Walden , 49 . Lodge having been opened in the Third Degree , ( after the summons concerning the meeting had been read ) , was resumed in the Second , and Bro . H . Jennings was questioned and proving proficient was duly entrusted . Lodge was resumed and the Degree of M . M . was conferred upon that
brother . Subsequently Bro . H . J . Anderson was examined as a candidate for the Second Degree and in due course was duly passed to the Degree of F . C . The brethren next ballotted for the admission of Mr . C . Allen , which proving favourable that gentleman was duly initiated into the mysteries of thc Order . The VV . M . conducted the whole of the working in a masterly manner , and ledge was closed .
PENGE LODGE ( No . 1 S 15 ) . —Bro . George Bird was installed at a meeting of the above lodge , at the Thicket Hotel , Anerley , on Saturday , the Sth inst . Bro . Jackson , assisted by Bio . West , the I . P . M ., performed the ceremony with his characteristic efficiency , and was highly complimented by thc visiting Past Masters . The host , Bro . Lassom , provided an excellent banquet to
follow , and thc harmony of the evening was well sustained by Bros . G . Cook , Org . ; Cox , Bland , Stevens , and Downie , and visiting professional Bros . Drs . Bazeley and Lee Davis . The W . JERSEY . —Yarborough Lodge ( No . 244 ) . —This lodge held its seventieth anniversary on the 2 nd inst ., at the Masonic Temple , Stopford-road , St . Helier . The VV . M ., VV . Bro . Major du Jardin , opened the lodge in due form , and initiated Messrs . Dumaresq and Le Brun . The lodge then received with musical honours the R . VV . D . P . G . M ., Dr . I . e Cronier , who proceeded to instal Bro . T . J . Ainsley ,
the VV . M . elect , into the chair of K . S . The ceremony was performed in such a masterly manner as to call forth marks of admiration at the conclusion thereof . The W . At thc conclusion of the business VV . Bro . Donaldson proposed , and VV . B . Bennett , seconded , that a vote of thanks be inscribed on vellum and presented to the I . P . M ., Hro . Major du Jardin , P . G . S ., for the able and splendid manner in which he had ruled the lodge during the past two years , behaving during that time raised it to a position second to none in the urovince . Thc proposition was
carried unanimously . During the intervals several selections wcre played on the organ by Bro . Dowden , P . P . G . O ., in his usual brilliant manner . The brethren then adjourned lo the banquet , provided by Bro . VV . B . Geo . Rogers . The table was decorated in splendid style with all flowers in season , and a magnificent
repast was enjoyed by some seventy-five brethren . Ihe usual loyal toasts were cordially received , as well as that of the D . P . G . M ., who wished that in due course the Masonic Charities be not forgotten . Altogether a most enjoyable evening was spent , and at a reasonable hour terminated with the Tyler ' s toast .

The brethren assembled at 5 . 30 , and shortly afterwards the lodge was opened and the minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed . At G . 30 they adjourned to tea , and at 7 . 30 re-assembled
in the lodge-room , when Bro . Herbert T . Mapleston being ready and willing to take his Third Degree , was interrogated as to his proficiency , and having given his replies in a satisfactory manner withdrew . By permission of the VV . M ., Bro . Jno . Smethurst took the chair , and raised Bro . Mapleston " to the Sublime Degree of a M . M .,
and afterwards presented the working tools to the candidate . Bro . jno . Bladon delivered thc traditional history . After the ceremony a long and tedious discussion took place in reference to the usual summer pic nic , and eventually a committee was appointed to make arrangements for it . Hearty good wishes were expressed by the visiting brethren , and lodge was closed in peace and . harmony .
LIVERPOOL . —St . John ' s Lodge ( No . 673 ) . — The " St . John's " has for many years held a high position in the province of West Lancashire , both with regard to its numerical strength and its Masonic influences ; and amongst its members will be found several brethren who , as a recognition of their labours in the cause of charity and the Craft , have been honoured by the Prov . Grand Master
with Prov . Grand Lodge honours . 1 he annual celebration of the summer festival in connection with the lodge took place on Tuesday afternoon , the 4 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , where there was an attendance of nearly 100 brethren , no fewer than 30 of whom were W . M . ' s and P . M . ' s hailing from sister fraternities and " St . John ' s . " The chair at the commencement of the proceedings was

, Bro . Alpass expressed his gratification that his name should have been coupled with the toast . An office in Grand Lodge was the highest honour to which a Mason could aspire . From what he had seen of the Grand Lodge working he could assure the brethren that the officers of Grand Lodge , one and all , devoted much time and labour to its affairs , so that the business might be carried on in a
manner satisfactory to the Craft in general . He must more especially mention among those officers their own esteemed and popular Provincial Grand Master , the Earl of Lathom , who set an example worthy of imitation by all . He congratulated Lodge No . 1313 , on its sound financial
position , and was especially pleased to see such a promising set of officers as those invested that day . He felt sure that under the guidance of the VV . M . and his subordinates the lodge would go on and prosper . "The Provincial Grand Oflicers "was proposed by thc VV . M ., and heartily received . Bro . G . Piatt , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C , responded in eloquent
terms . The toast of thc " VV . M . " was proposed in highly eulogistic terms by the I . P . M ., Bro . Howie , and enthusiastically drunk with musical honours . The VV . M . briefly but heartily thanked the brethren . In reply to " 'The Installing Master , " given by tho VV . M ., Bro . Roberts , P . M ., P . P . G . A . D . C , thanked thc
brethren , and stated it was his proud position to be one of the oldest members of the lodge , and he had had the pleasure of installing most of the P . M . ' s of No . 1313 . Above all thin gs he admired earnestness , and his idea of an earnest Mason was one who curbed his own inclinations forthe benefit of others . He hoped all present would carry away happy memomies of that day , and he considered himself

, Bro . Alpass expressed his gratification that his name should have been coupled with the toast . An office in Grand Lodge was the highest honour to which a Mason could aspire . From what he had seen of the Grand Lodge working he could assure the brethren that the officers of Grand Lodge , one and all , devoted much time and labour to its affairs , so that the business might be carried on in a
manner satisfactory to the Craft in general . He must more especially mention among those officers their own esteemed and popular Provincial Grand Master , the Earl of Lathom , who set an example worthy of imitation by all . He congratulated Lodge No . 1313 , on its sound financial
position , and was especially pleased to see such a promising set of officers as those invested that day . He felt sure that under the guidance of the VV .
