preserve objects and records of historic and general interest in the county ; and to preserve and revive local reminiscences ; ( 4 ) to encourage educational and | industrial objects connected with the county ; and ( 5 ) to assist as far as funds permit , any benevolent object which the Council deems worthy of support . Each and every of these objects is so praiseworthy in itself and so calculated to prove serviceable to the worthy people of Kent that , though the programme is a somewhat ambitious one for a newlyformed Society , it is impossible not to wish it the utmost possible success .
