We understand that the annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Masons of Northumberland and Durham will be held at Newcastle on Tuesday , November 13 th , under the presidency of Bro , Rev . Canon Tristram , Prov . G . M . M . M . Orders have been received at Portsmouth directins the Victory , Nelson ' s flagship at the battle of Trafalgar ,
to be out of dockyard hands by the 23 rd of November . Over £ 10 , 000 have been expended on the ship in making her watertight , and it is said she will now last another hundred years . The usual "Trafalgar Day " demonstration on board the Victory will have to be abandoned , as the ship will then be in the hands of the shipwrights . The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand

The flood came down in an irresistible torrent , sweeping everything before it and bringing down rocks and trunks of trees with it . The stream came rushing through
the street San Juan de Dios in a wave 12 feet high . Shops were deluged and the contents destroyed . Houses were swept away and their inhabitants drowned or bruised to death . Berry as Provincial Grand Master of Forfarshire . On the following day the Grand Master will visit Edinburgh for the purpose of attending at the consecration of the new Dramatic and Art Lodge . We are afraid that in our reference to the address recently presented by the House Committee of the Girls ' School to Bro . Robert Grey , President Board of Benevolence , and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Centenary Board of Stewards , we did not make it quite
clear that this address was moved by Bro . Thomas Fenn , President of the Board of General Purposes , and carried at the meeting of the said Committee in June last , and that , having been beautifully engrossed and illuminated on vellum , it was presented at the latest meeting of the same Committee by Bro . We are afraid that in our reference to the address recently presented by the House Committee of the Girls ' School to Bro . Robert Grey , President Board of Benevolence , and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Centenary Board of Stewards , we did not make it quite
clear that this address was moved by Bro . Thomas Fenn , President of the Board of General Purposes , and carried at the meeting of the said Committee in June last , and that , having been beautifully engrossed and illuminated on vellum , it was presented at the latest meeting of the same Committee by Bro . Sir J . B . Monckton , who was the Chairman of the day , and delivered one of those eloquent addresses for which he is so well known .
Bro . Lord Magheramorne presided at the weekly meeting , on the 7 th instant , of the Metropolitan Board oE Works , when the report of the Fire Brigade Committee , to the effect that the Fire Brigade required to be increased but that the Board had no means to do so , was confirmed .

The Duke of Cambridge visited the Camp at Aldershoton Thursday , the 4 th inst ., for the purpose of making the annual inspection of the troops quartered there , his Royal Highness being accompanied by Bros . Ihe safety of the Monument was discussed at the meeting of the Common Council on Thursday , the 4 th inst . The Chairman of the City Lands said tnat every possible step had been taken to protect the public from any further tall of masonry , should it take place , from the Monument . The structure had been closed , and a close investigation of the stonework was being made . All
necessary repairs would be speedily carried out . The pressure of private engagements is understood to be the reason for Bro . Woodward ' s resignation , and while we , in common with the Middlesex brethren , greatly regret that he should have considered it necessary to taKe this step , we must congratulate the province on the appointment of Bros . Room and Lee as his successors .
The old Ttieatre Royal , Dundee , which had been used as a music hall for many years , and which wis undergoing an extensive course ot repiirs , previojs to being re-opened , was destroyed by fire on Saturday morning last . Bro . Lord and Lady Herschell are expected to leave London at the end of the present week for Naples , whence they will proceed by steamer toBombay , remaining in India till March .

The new Asylum of Coeur de Lion Commandery at Los Angelos , California , was destroyed by fire on the 4 th ult . The uniforms , regalia , and pharaphernalia were burned . The loss was about filteen thousand dollars , and the insurance six thousand .
At the annual meeting of the Auctioners ' Benevolent Fund on Wednesday afternoon , subscriptions were reported to the amount of £ 248 , and donations to the extent of £ 42 . Annuities to tne amount of £ 130 have been apportioned to individuals—daughters and widows of deceased auctioneers . During the year the sum of £ 235 has been added to the investments .
