and assured the brethren that he was deeply sensible of the great honour done him . He hoped they would have plenty of work , and that he would be able to go through the ceremonies as they should be done . He always believed candidates were a good deal influenced in the Degrees by first impressions , and if the officers would rehearse the ceremony all would go smoothly . He trusted they _ would have an opportunity of rehearsing previous to their next

meeting . The next toast was that of " The Advancee , " to whom they all extended a welcome . Bro . 1 . Jacobs expressed the pleasure it had afforded him to * be advanced that evening , and congratulated the I . P . M . on his working of the ceremony . The W . M . next proposed "The Past Masters and Installing Master , " and said the lodge was to be congratulated

on having so many Past Masters who had done good work , and who were always ready to come forward to assist . Bro . M . was a most enthusiastic and indefatigable Masonand had brought more recruits into the Degree

, than many could boast of . They had all seen how excellently Bro . Crutch , P . M ., had rendered the ceremonies of advancement and installation , and the way he delivered the charges was most impressive . Bro . VV . J . Crutch , I . P . M ., said as far as he was concerned he should always endeavour to do his duty in i " lodge as he had during the time he had been a

member-He thanked the brethren , not only for the kind way they had received the toast , but also for the kindness extenaea to him during his year of oflice . . » Bro . R . Clowes , P . G . O ., responded for " The Visitors , and acknowledged the kindness with which they had bee received .
