The Arcadian Lodge , No . 2696 , was consecrated at the Hotel Cecil , Strand , on the 7 th instant , in the presence of a goodly gathering cf Masons . The new Iodge will be restricted almost entirely to brethren interested in the
subject of food reform , and the banquets will be on vegetarian principles . At the inaugural meeting this novelty was keenly criticised by the visitors present , the dinner consisting of fish , vegetables , and fruit only , and the general opinion appeared to be that the meal had been a thoroughly enjoyable one .

The CONSECRATING OFFICER , in addressing the brethren on the natur e of the meeting , said they had met on an occasion which could not fail to be of the deepest interest to all the brethren present—to start a new lodge into
existence to be called the Arcadian Lodge . He hoped it might fulfil all the objects the founders had in view , and wished it a future of unbroken prosperity . He then called upon the Chaplain for the opening prayer . The founders signified their approval of the officers named in the warrant and Bro . Rev . J . S . BROWNRIGG , P . G . Chap ., then delivered an interesting and eloquent oration on the nature and principles of the Order .
