The annual meeting' of the proprietors of the Royal Institution , Liverpool , was held a short time ago , when Master J . Wilson MacKcnzie ( son of Bro . J . B . MacKcnzie , I . P . M . 1609 ) was awarded the first prize for the best voluntary work done in the Gallery of Art from oil pictures , antique statues , busts , bas-reliefs , and chalk drawings during thc year .

Portland Lodge , No . 10 , 37 , of Portland , England , 1111 January the Sth entertained at dinner the oldest poor inhabitants of Portland , numbering seventeen persons . The average age of those present was found to be seventy two years and live months . 'Twelve others of the aged and deserving poor were supplied with a good dinner , each at their own homes . We believe it is the habit of this lodge to annually give such a dinner to the aged poor .

Committee of the Royal Alasonic Institution for Boys ' , held on Saturday last , it was decided that the case of Walter Harry Gosden be withdrawn from the list of candidates for the benefits of the Institution , as in consequence of the decease of the mother it was considered there is a sufficient income upon which to bring up the two boys .

A monument has been erected , at a cost of three hundred dollars , to the memory of R . W . Bro . John Smith , the first Deputy Grand Master of Kansas , U . S . A . Bro . James Terry , announced at the monthl y meeting of the Committee of the Royal Masonic Benevolent

A NEW OMNIBUS COMPANY * . — -A ncw company , having for its original title "the London and District Omnibus Company ( Limited ) " was started a short time since , and on 'Thursday last three of the new omnibus cars , which have been constructed by the Bristol Waggon Works Company , were on view at the premises which have been acquired by the Omnibus Company , at No . S , Grosvenorroad , Westminster . 'The cars , which are of rather a novel

construction , are the invention of Captain Molesworth , R . N ., and they are intended to supply the great public want of an improved class of vehicles . 'The object of the company is to establish a regular service of omnibuses of the most improved construction on the best metropolitan thoroughfares , including - many important new routes . It is intended that

the vehicles shall be better lighted by day and night , shall have lower steps , easier seats , with wider space between them , superior ventilation , improved facilities for reaching outside seats , with a mechanical arrangement for keeping the seats dry , wheels of the best construction , and many other improvements .

Colonel Blundell , Assistant Adjutant-General , I Iome District , has addressed a memorandum to Volunteer commanding officers , requesting them toifurnish returns of the number of each corps who * wish to take part in the liastern Monday Review . Portland Lodge , No . 10 , 37 , of Portland , England , 1111 January the Sth entertained at dinner the oldest poor inhabitants of Portland , numbering seventeen persons . The average age of those present was found to be seventy two years and live months . 'Twelve others of the aged and deserving poor were supplied with a good dinner , each at their own homes . We believe it is the habit of this lodge to annually give such a dinner to the aged poor .

A NEW OMNIBUS COMPANY * . — -A ncw company , having for its original title "the London and District Omnibus Company ( Limited ) " was started a short time since , and on 'Thursday last three of the new omnibus cars , which have been constructed by the Bristol Waggon Works Company , were on view at the premises which have been acquired by the Omnibus Company , at No . S , Grosvenorroad , Westminster . 'The cars , which are of rather a novel

construction , are the invention of Captain Molesworth , R . N ., and they are intended to supply the great public want of an improved class of vehicles . 'The object of the company is to establish a regular service of omnibuses of the most improved construction on the best metropolitan thoroughfares , including - many important new routes . It is intended that

the vehicles shall be better lighted by day and night , shall have lower steps , easier seats , with wider space between them , superior ventilation , improved facilities for reaching outside seats , with a mechanical arrangement for keeping the seats dry , wheels of the best construction , and many other improvements .
