that would meet with the approval and appreciation of the members . Bro . W . Day , W . M ., said he had to thank the I . P . M . very much indeed for the kind manner in which he had submitted the toast to the brethren , and he also desired to tender his thanks for the hearty reception accorded it . Bro . Poore had said many kind things of him that he did
not think he deserved ; but he would endeavour to do so during the forthcoming year . He intended to carry out the duties of his important office to the best of his ability , and hoped he should perform them to the satisfaction of all . The Worshipful Master said it was his pleasing duty to propose " The Visitors , " and he was glad to say they were honoured with the presence of many distinguished
members of the Craft . He offered them a hearty welcome , and hoped they would go away with a favourable impression of their visit , and would be induced to visit them again on a future occasion . He asked the members to receive that toast with heartiness and cordiality . Bro . G . Moss , P . M . 1201 , in reply , said that having once more enjoyed their hospitality , he had to sincerely thank
them for the kindness he invariably received . There was a distinctive feature of that lodge , which was the geniality and feeling of brotherly love that was clearly evinced amongst the members . It had afforded him special gratification that evening to witness the installation ceremony so admirably performed by the first initiate of the lodge—Bro . Poore , I . P . M . He complimented the officers on their
working , and was assured that those he was coming forward would have an excellent example to follow . Bro . H . Maunder Williams , P . M . 295 and 19 S 6 , also replied , and said he had simply to endorse the remarks that had fallen from Bro . Moss . It was his good fortune to be present at the consecration , and he was gratified to see the lodge progressing in such a favourable manner . He
congratulated Bro . Day on reaching the chair , and heartily wished him a prosperous year of office . Bros . R . T . Bowman , W . M . elect 134 ; C . Lee , I . G . 1624 ; and others also responded . "The I . P . M . and Installing Master" was next given by Bro . Day , W . M ., who said that so much had been said , and truly , about Bro . Poore , that there was really nothing left
for him to add . He was sure it must have been gratifying to the visitors , and especially to the members , to witness his admirable working in the lodge that evening . He hoped he should have the help and goodwill of the I . P . M . during his year of office , and that at the end of that period he should leave the chair in as creditable , a manner as Bro .
Poore had done . Bro . Richard Poore , I . P . M ., responded , and thanked the W . M . most sincerely for the kind manner in which he had proposed the toast , and the brethren for their reception of it . It was most gratifying to hear one and all express their satisfaction at what he bad done . As far as he could he would assist the W . M . in the duties of his office whilst he
occupied that onerous position . " The Past Masters " was proposed by the Worshipful Master , who said he wished to include with that toast "The Treasurer and Secretary . " The brethren present were aware of the love of Masonry that distinguished their Past Masters , and would join him in wishing that the Past Masters would continue to take the same . interest in the
lodge as they had done in the past . Rro . H . Lovegrove , P . M ., Sec , responded , and said , as regarded himself ' , he hoped he should for many years to come do his best for the lodge . He hoped that those who were qualified to attend Grand Lodge would be there in good time at the next meeting to vote for Bro . Godson for the office of Grand Treasurer . It would no doubt be an
important meeting , for the Pro G . M . would probably say something about the Jubilee Festival . The next matter to which he wished to refer was the Festival of _ the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , which took place in about a fortnight , and at which he would act as Steward . Bro . the Earl of Miltown would preside , and if the brethren wished to witness some excellent wotking they should not fail to
attend . He was much gratified to see Bro . Day occupy the chair , as he was the means of introducing that brother into the lodge . He hoped the visitors present were satisfied with what they had seen , and assured them that if there had been shortcomings , it was not the fault of the principal officers or of himself , as Secretary . Bros . Kirland , Treas ., and Baldwin , P . M ., also returned
thanks . " The Officers" having been duly given , and ably responded to by Bro . Axford , S . W ,, the Tyler's toast closed the proceedings . During the evening the enjoyment of brethren was considerably enhanced by music and recitations , given under the direction of Bro . John Read , Organist , who was assisted by Bros . C . Lee , Baldwin , T . jPoore , and W . W . Lee .

that would meet with the approval and appreciation of the members . Bro . W .
W . Lee .
