IN AN ORDER TO THE ARMY it is announced that the Queen has approved of the forces employed in the military operatiens in Egypt which resulted in the capture of Abu Hamed , the reconquest of the province of Berber , the defeat ol Emir Mahmoud's army on the Atbara , and the final operations resulting in the overthrow of the Khalifa's troops at . Khartoum , accepting and wearing the silver m » dal granted by the Khedive .

H . M . THE QUEEN AND THE ROYAL COUNTIES A GRICULTURAL SHOW . —The Oueen , throjgh Prince Christian , has given permission for next year's Royal Counties Agricultural Show to be held , on June 5 th and the three following days , in Windsor Home Park . The site selected is about 35 acres in extent , and is situated in the private portion ofthe Castle grounds between the trout stream and the Datchet-road .

BRO . EDWARD TERRY ' S autumn tour terminates at the Theatre Royal , Brighton , on Saturday , the 17 th inst ., shortly after which the rehearsals of the new comedy entitled , " What Will the Woild Say ? " by Mr . George P . Bancroft , will commence at Terry's Theatre , for production there about thc end of January . Mr . Terry , on his reappearance , will be supported by a strong cast . Miss Cailotta Addison and Mr . Ernest Hcndrie are amongst those already engaged .

THE DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE will visit Kingston-on-Thames on Monday , the 12 th instant , to open Ihe new Victoria Hospital , built as a memorial of the Oueen's long reign . His Royal Highness will drive through Putney , where he will be met by an escort of the Middlesex Yeomanry ( Duke cf Cambridge ' s Hussars ) , and at the borough boundary on Kingston-hill the Mayor and Corporation will offer an address of welcome . After the opening ceremony the Duke will be presented with the freedom of the borough at the Town llall , and subsequently the Mayor will entertain his Royal Highness to luncheon . The hospital has been erected on a piece of land given by his Royal Highness .

B ., has addressed the following letter to the daily Press : " Sir , —A week ago in your column * I proposed the establishment of a Gordon Memorial College at Khartoum , and asked for a sum of at least £ 100 , 000 for that purpose . It was with some hesitation that I decided to make that appeal , but the result is proving so successful that I feel that I did not then fully icalise the great generosity of the British people . I desire on leaving Kngland to tender my thanks to all who have

subscribed to or sympathised with this object , as well a * to the Press for its unaninju , support . There is now no doubt that it is the wish of the British public that there should be founded at Khartoum a college in memory of Gordon .
