ANNUAL BANQUET OF THE LOGIC CLUB .
This club held its annual banquet at the Cafi ! Royal , in Thursday , the ist inst ., before some 80 members and visitors , and were able , under the genial chairmanship of its Preceptor , Bro . G . E . Fairchild , to secure a very pleasant evening . Those present included amongst the number Bros . J . Percy Fitzgerald ,
Cummings , Ths . Johnson , R . P . Stevens , Lawrence , Grenier , Chaplin , Dr . Holloway Elliott , Dr . Alder Wright , Barnett , Lasvs , Girder , Dr . Andrew Miller , Haynes , Fred . Burgess , Smith , Kent , Ingram , J . D . Beveridge , Alfred Moore , and others . Visitors : Bros . Dr . Lennox Brosvne , James Terry , Heme , Dr . Anderson , G . W . Anson , Irish , William Tinney , Charles
Tinney , May Stevens , J . Le Hay , Curtis D'AIton , Collings , Cousins , Kay , Boden , Trueman , Hosvell , Pink , and many others . The club , as explained by Bro . G . E . Fairchild , svas founded some 10 years ago by the talented actor , the late Bro . John Maclean , the late Bro . George Buckland , the producer of an entertainment svhich held
pleasant ssvay at the Polytechnic for a good many years , and the present and only Secretary of the Club , Bro . J . Percy Fitzgerald . The idea of the founders svas to enable those of tlieir own particular profession to secure an opportunity of practising the Masonic ritual at a time convenient , and to endeavour to enlist the sympathies of these
brethren in Art on behalf of the great Masonic Charities . It was a rare thing indeed years ago to see an actor or a musical man "in the chair of King Solomon , " much less to see him figure as a Steward at any of the great Charity Festivals . Circumstances have nosv changed , and such names as James Fernandez , Alfred Bishop , Lestocq , Penley , S . Johnson , and numerous
other members of the dramatic profession are to be found amongst the best exponents of the Masonic ritual and earnest ss'orkers in the Craft , and liberal supporter of its Charities . As sve svere told on Thursday night , the Club has , through its Charity organisation , during the last four or five years sent no less a sum than £ 1700 ; this of itself is doing good work ,
and , although we svould not like to follosv its Secretary so far when he says that svhere Grand Lod * fe has failed the Logic Club steps in , yet there is something in what he says that it has turned the attention of a numerous and important class who probably svould not have had so early an opportunity of becoming good and useful Masons . Annual Banquet Of The Logic Club.
J . Percy Fitzgerald . brethren in Art on behalf of the great Masonic Charities .
