The annual meeting of the above Prov . Grand Lodge was held on the 29 th ult . at the Temperance Hall , Hartlepool , when there assembled a very large number of Provincial Grand Officers and the Masters , officers , and brethren of the lodges . BENSON , showing a balancs of ^ 341 Ss . in the bank , and was duly adopted . Bro . the Rev . Canon TRISTRAM , D . D ., Chairman of the Fund Commitee of the province , presented the report of the Committee , which recom-

mended that a number of grants be made to several necessitous brethren and widows of deceased brethren . The Committee also recommended that 70 guineas be donated to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution ; that 60 guineas be given to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys ; and 60 guineas be given to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , a total sum of ^ 199 10 s , The report was unanimously adopted .

The Prov . Grand Master , Bro . Sir HEDWORTH WILLIAMSON , Bart , afterwards addressed Prov . Grand- Lodge . He mentioned , amid loud applause , the proposal which had been made by a number of the leading brethren of the province , for some substantial and suitable recognition of the long and most able services of the Prov . Grand Secretary , Bro . Robert

Hudson , and it had been suggested that this would be appropriatel y done by the establishment of a special grant to the Durham Masonic Education Fund which would be suitably named in due course . ( Applause . ) This should have his best help . ( Applause . ) He also wished every success to the Durham Masonic Benevolent Fund , which it had been agreed to establish .

GRAND MASTER announced that he had received a letter from the Provincial Grand Master , regretting his inability to D present , owing to the death of a relative , and also because his medic adviser had recommended him not to run too much risk in going out alt

the operation he had recently undergone . He was glad to state that he w now recovering from his recent illness . He ( the Daputy Prov- G Master ) and all of them rejoiced that Lord Leigh was now recovering his illness , and he proposed that the Provincial Grand Secretary be r e - quested to send a letter to his lordship , sympathising with him in his fee affliction , and congratulating him upon h s recovery . _ . ^ The PROV . D ., Chairman of the Fund Commitee of the province , presented the report of the Committee , which recom-

mended that a number of grants be made to several necessitous brethren and widows of deceased brethren . The Committee also recommended that 70 guineas be donated to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution ; that 60 guineas be given to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys ; and 60 guineas be given to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , a total sum of ^ 199 10 s , The report was unanimously adopted .

The Prov . Grand Master , Bro . Sir HEDWORTH WILLIAMSON , Bart , afterwards addressed Prov . Grand- Lodge . He mentioned , amid loud applause , the proposal which had been made by a number of the leading brethren of the province , for some substantial and suitable recognition of the long and most able services of the Prov . Grand Secretary , Bro . Robert

Hudson , and it had been suggested that this would be appropriatel y done by the establishment of a special grant to the Durham Masonic Education Fund which would be suitably named in due course . ( Applause . ) This should have his best help . ( Applause . ) He also wished every success to the Durham Masonic Benevolent Fund , which it had been agreed to establish .
