the visitors , had much to thank the members for by witnessing the grand working of the installation cermony . which was greatly enhanced by the beautiful anthem given by Bro . Courtice Pounds . The visitors desired to convey to the W . M . the hope that he might be spared in health and strength to carry out his high office . He thought he would have able assistance from his officers , who would keep well to the front the great traditions of the lodge . They had had a most enjoyable evening , and the musical entertainment was grand . He had been invited on many occasions , but that was the first opportunity he

lad had of attending . It was his honour to be VV . M . of the Empress Lodge , which was greatly enhanced by the Secretary of that lodge being also the Secretary of the Eccentric Lodge . Bro . Will Chapman had received Grand honours , which he well deserved , and he was beloved by all . The coming W . M . of the Empress Lodge was Bro . Imie Kiralfy , and he had shown that night what he would do for the Charities . Bros . G . W . Fitzwilliam and E . W . Harris also acknowledged the toast of the visitors .

The toast of " The Past Masters was next given by the W . M ., who observ d that they were only a young lodge , he being the fourth Master . The late lamented Bro . Sir Augustus Harris was the first Master ; Bro . F . Osmond Carr , the second ; and the I . P . M ., Bro . Walter Clifford , the third . He had some excellent examples set him by his predecessors , and if he could only do half as well , he would be satisfied , and he coupled with the toast the name of Bro . Dr . Osmond Carr .

Bro . Dr . Osmond Carr responded . He said that the W . M . was the first to think of founding the lodge , and he ( Bro . Carr ) was appointed S . W . He was now a wallfl > wer , as there was nothing for him to do in the lodge . The lodge had dona marvels ; the Treasurer and Secretary always kept them going ; and with the energy of the W . M . — and he had plenty—the lodge would continue its great prosperity . The VV . M . gave "The Officers , " remarking that they were all good , and would give him every assistance . The S . W . was a splendid Mason and a good fellow . He made special reference to the Treasurer and Secretary , and the litter he congratulated on receiving . Grand honours , and said the success of the lodge was due to him .

Bro . W . S . Horper , S . W ., whose name was associated with the toast , responded , promising on behalf of his colleagues that they would do their very best to make the Worshipful Master ' s year of office a great success . The Tyler ' s toast ended a very happy and successful gathering . The vocal entertainment , which was one of the very best , was under the direction of Bro . James Kilt , in which the following took part—Bros . Franklin Clive , M . Humphreys , Courtice Pounds , Fred . Russell , C . Schartau , Arthur Strugnell , E . J . Wood , and Templar Saxe .

The VV . M ., Bro . John A . Harrison , was initiated in the St . Dunstan's Lodge , No . 15 S 9 . He is also a member of the Drury Lane Lodge , the Fitzroy Chapter , the Eccentric Chapter , and the Dramatic Mark Lodge . He was born the 14 th June . 1 S 56 , was educated at Sandgate , and has been connected with his business in Bow-street for 25 years . He is considered to be one of the leading theatrical costumiers of the world . He is a member of the Honourable Artillery Company and of about a doz -, n clubs . He is Hon . Secretary and founder of the Eccentric Club , which is one of the most successful Bohemian clubs in existence .

The lodge having been opened , the minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . VV . P . King was raised to the Third Degree and Bro . A . C . Brett was passed to the Second Degree . The ballot hiving proved unanimous in favour of Messrs . John Edward Clarke , W . ] . Pullen , and William Alfred Bu gess , as candidates , they were initiated , and Bro . Dr . Arthur Hope Reinhardt , M . R . C . S ., 1 G 12 , was unanimously elected as a joining member . The ceremonies were rendered in a masterly anel impressive manner by the W . M .

The lodge being closed , the brethren adjourned to Beale ' s han r'some banqueting hall , where they sat down to an excellent banquet . Ihe usual Masonic toasts wire proposed and received . The W . M ., in resrending to tne b ast of his health , prop s : d hy Bro . Hughes , LP M ., said he wi uld ntver fo get the homur that had been conferred upon him by being chosen the first W . M . of that important lodge , which had proved to be a complete success , although only consecrated in Maich last . Bio . Larner tesponded to the toast of " The Treasurer and Secretary . "

Bro . Fred . Varley , in repljing to the toast of " The Officers , " referred to the zeal and energy Bro . Macfarlane , the Secretary , had shown for the welfare and prosperity of the lodge . A pleasing programme of songs was rendered in the evening by able artistes , who were much appreciated , and during Ihe banquet the band played a selection of music After the last toast the meeting terminated , the brethren having spent a most enjoyable and pleasant evening .

Bro . Fred . Varley , in repljing to the toast of " The Officers , " referred to the zeal and energy Bro . Macfarlane , the Secretary , had shown for the welfare and prosperity of the lodge . A pleasing programme of songs was rendered in the evening by able artistes , who were much appreciated , and during Ihe banquet the band played a selection of music After the last toast the meeting terminated , the brethren having spent a most enjoyable and pleasant evening .
