Bro . the Marquis of Hartington , M . P ., who spent last week at Bolton Abbey grouse shooting , returned to London on Monday . The Keystone records the death on the 6 th ult ., at the age of 7 S years , of Bro . (" apt . Jacob Landenslager , who was initiated in 1835 , W M . of his lod ^ e in 1849 , Grand Swd . Br . of the Grand Lodae of
Pennsylvania in 1 S 55 , and Grand Marshal . 1 S 56-62 , and at the time of his death Chairman of the Trustees of the Giand Lodge Charity Fund , an office he had held for many years . He had also served as Treasurer of his mother lodge for 15 years—from 1 S 65 to 1881 , and on retiring from the post
was presented with a handsome testimonial in recognition of his worth . Bro . Landenslager was an old soldier of the " Buckshot War , " and the Civil War , 1 S 61-5—and also an old fireman , and his funeral in the North Laurel Hill Cemetery was attended by the brethren of his old lodge , ? nd celebrated with Masonic rites ,

COLCHESTER . —Patriotic Chapter ( No . 51 ) , —A meeting of this chapter was held on Tuesday evening , the 30 th ult ., at the Cups Hotel . In the course of the evening Comp . J . J . C . Turner , the Z ., presented on behalf of the members to Comp . T . J . Railing , P . Z and S . E ., the clothing of a Past Grand Officer , on the occasion of his receiving the rank of Past Grand Sword Bearer
of the Supreme Grand Chapter of England . The gift was accompanied with a handsomely illuminated list of the subscribers to this testimonial , and also of those who subscribed on a recent occasion ( 103 in number ) , when Bro . Wilson , and A . S . Letcers were read from Comps . Ockenden , H . elect , and several other companions , expressing their regret at their inability to attend . A short discussion ensued in reference to the proposed alteration of the days of meeting , but it
was unanimously agreed that they , should remain unaltered . On the proposition of Comp . W . Hammond , P Z .. seconded by Comp . J . J . M ^ rsh , P . Z ., a hearty vote of ( hanks was accorded to Comp . W . H . Lee fur his kindness in performing the instillation ceremonies , and he was unanimously elected an honorary member . Comp . Lee briefly returned thanks , and said that whilst regretting that Comp .
Briggs , who was to have perlormed the ceiemony , was unavoidably absent through ill health , it had afforded him pleasure to render any service to the chapter . He also thanked thrm heartily for the honour acoirded him in electing him an honorary member . Comp . VV . Hammond having been warmly welcomed on his reiurn to the chapter alter a long illness , and all other business having been transacted the convocation was closed in the usual
manner . After a substantial repast , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts H / ere duly honoured . The M . E . Z . in proposing the toast of "The Grand Superintendent and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , " said he was happy to say they had met under the organisation of the Province of Middlesex . He had hoped that
they would have been favoured by the presence of Comp . Col . Sir K . Burdett , but he was prevented from attending by one of his numerous engagements . Their Grand Superintendent was , however , represented by several Prov . Grand Officers , whom ihey cordially welcomed . They were proud to know that amongst the ranki of the Prov . G . Officers were some of their own members . It would not be necessary
for him to enlarge upon the woik done by that excellent body , tor all present knew the interest taken by them in the afiaiis of the province . He was delighted to welcome Comp . W . H . Lee , Prov . Asst . G . S . E ., to whom they were indebted for his valuable services on the present occasion , and whose name he should couple with the toast . Comp . W . H . Lee , Prov . Asst . G . S . E ., in reply , said he
felt very proud to respond for the toast so kindly proposed by the M . E . Z ., and so warmly received by the companions . With reference to their Grand Superintendent , he was a companion who was beloved by all , and who was received with the grea'est popularity wherever he visited . He knew that Sir F . Burdett took a great interest in the progress of Masonry , and that he was at all times willing to do all he
can for the province over which he presided . So far as the rest of the Prov . G . Officers were concerned , they followed in the steps of the Giand Superintendent . He thanked them personally for the high compliment paid him , and if he had been of any service he could only assure them ihat he should be ready 10 assist them in the future to the utmost of his poner .
" Ihe Health of the M . E . Z . " was proposed by Comp . Marsh , I . P . Z ., who remarked that their M . E . Z . had worked through the various degrees of Masonry , and would no doubt fill his present position as well as he had the offices he had previously held . The companions were
convinced that Comp . Williams would exert his influence for ihe welfare of their chapter . Comp . H . Maunder Williams , M . E . Z ., in reply , said he was extremely obliged for the Haltering terms in which Comp . Marsh had proposed the toast . He could onl y assure the . n that he would do all he could to maintain the
ciedit ot the chair , and he trusted that the progress which had been made in the past would be perhaps exceeded in the future . He was specially indebted to trie members for their kindness in allowing him to be installed in the chair of Z . after a membership of only three years . He would pointout to the companions that their labours had not been in vain , for they had become fairly established , and now had a strong muster of members . He sincerely hoped they

BRO . T . J . PINKER , No . 41 . The funeral of Bro . T . J . Pinker , of the firm of Messrs . Duck , Son , and Pinker , ot Bath , whose untimely death by the capsizing of the sailing yacht Monarch , at Utracombe , has created a widespread feeling of regret and sympathy in the city , took place on Wednesday , the 31 st ult ., at Locksbrook Cemetery , Bath , there being a large attendance
ot friends and citizens at his graveside . The cortege , consisting of a tuneial car , two mourning and one private carriages , left the late residence ot the deceased ,- lula , Newbridge-road , at u o ' clock . The coffin , of polished elm , was covered with a violet pall , on which were laid a profusion of wreaths and crosses sent by sympathising friends . It bore the following inscription : " Thomas Joseph

Bro . the Marquis of Hartington , M . P ., who spent last week at Bolton Abbey grouse shooting , returned to London on Monday . The Keystone records the death on the 6 th ult ., at the age of 7 S years , of Bro . (" apt . Jacob Landenslager , who was initiated in 1835 , W M . of his lod ^ e in 1849 , Grand Swd . Br . of the Grand Lodae of
Pennsylvania in 1 S 55 , and Grand Marshal . 1 S 56-62 , and at the time of his death Chairman of the Trustees of the Giand Lodge Charity Fund , an office he had held for many years . He had also served as Treasurer of his mother lodge for 15 years—from 1 S 65 to 1881 , and on retiring from the post
was presented with a handsome testimonial in recognition of his worth . Bro . Landenslager was an old soldier of the " Buckshot War , " and the Civil War , 1 S 61-5—and also an old fireman , and his funeral in the North Laurel Hill Cemetery was attended by the brethren of his old lodge , ? nd celebrated with Masonic rites ,

E ., the clothing of a Past Grand Officer , on the occasion of his receiving the rank of Past Grand Sword Bearer
of the Supreme Grand Chapter of England . Hammond having been warmly welcomed on his reiurn to the chapter alter a long illness , and all other business having been transacted the convocation was closed in the usual
manner . After a substantial repast , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts H / ere duly honoured . The M . E . Z . in proposing the toast of "The Grand Superintendent and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , " said he was happy to say they had met under the organisation of the Province of Middlesex . He had hoped that
they would have been favoured by the presence of Comp . Col . Sir K . Burdett , but he was prevented from attending by one of his numerous engagements . Their Grand Superintendent was , however , represented by several Prov . Grand Officers , whom ihey cordially welcomed . They were proud to know that amongst the ranki of the Prov . G . Officers were some of their own members . It would not be necessary
for him to enlarge upon the woik done by that excellent body , tor all present knew the interest taken by them in the afiaiis of the province . He was delighted to welcome Comp . W . H . Lee , Prov . Asst . G . S . E ., to whom they were indebted for his valuable services on the present occasion , and whose name he should couple with the toast . Comp . W . H . Lee , Prov . Asst . G . S . E ., in reply , said he
felt very proud to respond for the toast so kindly proposed by the M . E . Z ., and so warmly received by the companions . With reference to their Grand Superintendent , he was a companion who was beloved by all , and who was received with the grea'est popularity wherever he visited . He knew that Sir F . Burdett took a great interest in the progress of Masonry , and that he was at all times willing to do all he
can for the province over which he presided . So far as the rest of the Prov . G . Officers were concerned , they followed in the steps of the Giand Superintendent . He thanked them personally for the high compliment paid him , and if he had been of any service he could only assure them ihat he should be ready 10 assist them in the future to the utmost of his poner .
" Ihe Health of the M . E . Z . " was proposed by Comp . Marsh , I . P . Z ., who remarked that their M . E . Z . had worked through the various degrees of Masonry , and would no doubt fill his present position as well as he had the offices he had previously held . The companions were
convinced that Comp . Williams would exert his influence for ihe welfare of their chapter . Comp . H . Maunder Williams , M . E . Z ., in reply , said he was extremely obliged for the Haltering terms in which Comp . Marsh had proposed the toast . He could onl y assure the . n that he would do all he could to maintain the
ciedit ot the chair , and he trusted that the progress which had been made in the past would be perhaps exceeded in the future . He was specially indebted to trie members for their kindness in allowing him to be installed in the chair of Z . after a membership of only three years . He would pointout to the companions that their labours had not been in vain , for they had become fairly established , and now had a strong muster of members . He sincerely hoped they

BRO . T . J . PINKER , No . 41 . The funeral of Bro . T . J . Pinker , of the firm of Messrs . Duck , Son , and Pinker , ot Bath , whose untimely death by the capsizing of the sailing yacht Monarch , at Utracombe , has created a widespread feeling of regret and sympathy in the city , took place on Wednesday , the 31 st ult ., at Locksbrook Cemetery , Bath , there being a large attendance
ot friends and citizens at his graveside . The cortege , consisting of a tuneial car , two mourning and one private carriages , left the late residence ot the deceased ,- lula , Newbridge-road , at u o ' clock . The coffin , of polished elm , was covered with a violet pall , on which were laid a profusion of wreaths and crosses sent by sympathising friends .
