LADIES' NIGHT OF THE FAITH LODGE , No . 141 .
This old lodge , which has been in existence I 2 J years , held its first "ladies' " night on Tuesday , the 30 th ult ,, at the Trocadero Restaurant , when , thanks to the excellent catering of Bro . Lyons , of the firm of J . Lyons and Co ,, Limited , the proprietors of the restaurant , thc special arrangements made by Bro . Alfred
Salmon , S . D ., and the admirable musical programme arranged by Bro , Choveaux , the lodge Organist , a most enjoyable meeting passed eff with such marked success as to justify the hope that succeeding Worshipful Alasters will repeat the expariinent so pleasantly inaugurated by Bro . J . Glurkstein , the present occupant of the chair .
Fully 100 guests assembled in the course of thc evening in thc " Empire " ball-room on the second floor of the Trocadeio , which had been specially set apart for the function . A dispensation had been obtained for the brethren to appear in full Masonic Craft clothing , and , as the walls had been very tastefully decorated , and the tables were laid with beautiful collections of choice flowers , the scene , with the gay dresses of the ladies , was very brilliant .
Bro . J . Gluckstein , W . M ., presided , and was well supported by his officers and the members , and when the banquet was over a capital concert was given under the direction of Bro . F . E . Choveaux , who presided at the pianoforte . Among those who contribu'ed to this part of the evening ' s entertainment were Mr . J . W . Josey , Airs . Ella Cole , Air . James Avon , Bro . S . J . Derham , Air . Quenton Ashlyn , and Mr . Trcsome Woods , who gave evidence of his powers as a ventriloquist , the hor . ours being pretty equally divided between Air . Avon and Bro , Derham , whose singing was very greatly appreciated by all present .
In the course of the evening—shortly after dinner —great amusement was caused by Mrs . Fisher proposing and Mrs . Davis seconding tnat the "gentlemen smoke , " and it is needless to say the proposal was carried nem . con . and acted upon with the greatest gusto .
SKVKKAL interesting additions have been made to the collection of Gordon relics now on view in the Museum of the Royal Ui . ited Service Institution , VVhitenall , and a descriptive paragraph giving particulars of each of them has been compiled by Alajir Holden .
