St , Paul ' s Lodge ( No . 43 ) . —The first meet-. ing of this lodge since May was held at the Masonic Hall , on Monday , the 2 Sth ult ., and in consequence there was a large gathering of brethren , including a number of visitors , amongst whom were Bros . Barwell , P . M ., avery old member of the lodge , Clarke , P . M ., and several others . The

Secretary , Bro . Hands , informed the brethren that he had been handed the old books of the lodge , which had a continuous record back to the year 1764 , also the seals belonging to the lodge . The Charity Steward moved that £ 20 be given out of the funds of the lodge to the two Schools , and there was also a collection made amongst the brethren , which resulted in 20 guineas being subscribed .

The solos were beautifully rendered by the

well-known VVest of England baritone , Bro . Montague Worlock , and it is sufficient to add that the singers of the choruses were chiefly members of the Bristol Orphans and Bristol Madrigal Societies . The composition was very much admired . M . with an exceedingly handsome Past Master's jewel , made of iS-carat gold and beautifully chased , At the top of the ribbon was a bar with the word founder ,

and on the ribbon a shield with the arms and motto of the lodge in coloured enamel . Bro . Parry said that every mem berof the lodge had taken part in the provision of that present , which he hoped the VV . M . would wear in testimony of their appreciation of how much the successful starting and present prosperity of the lodge were due to his energy and ability and good work . Bro . Harold Lewis said he had

been requested to support the remarks of the previous speaker , and bore testimony to the minute attention which Bro . Harris gave every detail in connection with the work of the lodge . The W . M . suitably acknowledged the present . Two candidates for initiation , and five joining jnembers having been proposed , the lodge was closed , Bro . Farran Lambert's new march being played as the brethren left the

lodge-room . They then adjourned to the spacious new banqueting-hall on the ground floor of the building , where the installation supper was partaken of . The usual toast list was gone through , but the speeches were risridly condensed , as a very attractive programme of

music had been arranged . The glees were rendered by members of the Bristol Orphans and Bristol Madrigal Societies . The evening's proceedings furnished a rich musical treat , and it was generally agreed by the visitors that they had never been present at a more enjoyable or more successful Masonic gathering .

CAMBRIDGE . Isaac Newton University Lodge ( No . S 59 ) . —The first meeting of this lodge after the long vacation was held on Tuesday evening , the 29 th ult . The W . M ., Bro . VV . G . Bell , P . Mist , Gaskill , and Barringer were raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M . The ceremonies were worked in an able and impressive manner by the W . M ., who has had a very good vear of work .

Refreshment was afterwards partaken of , and nearly three hours most pleasantly spent together . Bro . Sparrowhawk , when proposing " The Health of the VV . M ., " referred to the efficient manner in which Bro . Lee had served the office during his occupancy of the chair , and specially mentioned his perfect rendering of the ceremony that afternoon .

The VV . M . thanked the brethren for their kind recognition of his efforts to maintain the prestige of the chair of the lodge , and then proposed " The Health of the Visitors . " The W . M . said that they did not expect any visiting brethren at that meeting , but he was sure they were heartily welcome , and especially because they were old friends . Bro . Pollen assured the W . M . that after his last visit to the

lodge , some three years ago , he went back to India with the most lively and pleasant recollection of the way in which he had been received by the brethren of the Amherst Lodge , for which he was indebted to his esteemed friend , Bro . Jewell . He should now be able to tell the brethren in Kurrachee , whither he was soon returning , that the reception given him at Riverhead was as hearty and cordial as ever .

Bro . Drewett also responded , and said that Ins experience of the Amherst Lodge now extended to installation , ordinary , and emergency meetings , and he could assure the brethren . that all were equally enjoyable , and also profitable to those who wanted to see how working should be done . The brethren soon afterwards separated , in the hope of all meeting again in the spring under the roof of Bro . Waller's comfortable and hospitable house .
