Master , Bro . C . F . Matier , Grand Secretary , and in the course of his remarks paid a well-deserved compliment to Bro . Matier for his untiring exertions on behalf of the Mark Degree , and specially thanked him and the other Grand Officers for coming down to consecrate their new lodge .

The GRAND SECRETARY replied in an excellent oration , and then proposed " The Health of the newlyinstalled W . C . N ., Bro . H . E . Cousans , " wishing him a happy , and the new lodge a prosperous year of office . The W . C . N , replied , and proposed " The Prov . G .

LADIES' DAY OF THE HENLEY LODGE .

The summer outing or ladies' day of the Henley Lodge , No . 1472 , took place on Wednesday , the 23 rd ult ., at Eastbourne . Some 47 of the brethren and their wives and sweethearts journeying thither by first-class saloon carriages from London Bridge . On arriving at

Eastbourne , a move vvas at once made for the Queen ' s Hotel , where lunch awaited the party , after partaking of which , rides to Beach y Head , or to Pevensey Castle , or on the briny billow ( and that it was both briny and billowy vve can vouch for from a rather swamped experience ) , or a lounge on the beach , or a

seat at the pier concert , or some pleasant way of killing time , till five p . m ., was indulged in . At 5 . 15 p . m . the party re-assembled at the Queen ' s Hotel , where a recherche banquet , presided over by the W . M ., Bro . C . Wood , awaited them , and vve must give the manager every credit for its excellence and splendid

service . The toasts of " The Queen and Craft Masonry , " "TheW . M ., " "The Past Masters , " and "The Ladies , " were interspersed vvith some really good singing , and then , carriages being in waiting , the party drove to the station , and re-entering the saloons , reached London about 11 p . m ., safe , sound , and happy . Funeral Of Bro. T. Prust.

FUNERAL OF BRO . T . PRUST .

Amid manifestations of respect and esteem , the mortal remains of the late Biro . Thomas Prust vvere interred in the Torquay Cemetery on Saturday afternoon , the and inst . Deceased was a prominent Mason and connected with many other local organisations , all of which were represented at the funeral . A

preliminary service was held at the Primitive Methodist Church at Ellacombe . The Rev . W . SAWYER officiated , and said that no man could live the life deceased did , and be gone altogether when dead . His example and influence were with them , and many of them would be the better for knowing him , and the patience and

firmness with which their departed brother bore his sufferings . A large number of Freemasons were present to testify to the hi gh esteem in vvhich they held Bro . Prust , who was a P . M . of the Jordan Craft and Mark Lodges , and Prov . S . G . D . in the Mark , besides holding office in the Arch , Ark Mariners , and Knight Templars .

The brethren , wearing white gloves and sprigs of acacia , preceded the hearse , walking two and two . Both on entering and leaving the church they opened out to allow the procession to pass through , and at the cemetery they accompanied the body to the grave , which

they encircled . Just before the benediction was pronounced , Bro . LANE exclaimed " Alas ! my brother , " and threw a sprig of acacia into the grave , his example being followed by all the brethren . Bro . Lane then said :

We commit his body to the grave , We commend his spirit to God vvho gave it , And we cherish his memory here . At the same time crossing his arms on his breast , all the brethren doing likewise . The Masonic portion of the arrangements , which

was under the direction of Bro . T . H . Wills , the W . M , of the Jordan Lodge , of which the deceased was Chaplain at the time of his death , was most impressively carried out . The coffin was of polished oak , and the breastplate bore the simple inscription— " Thomas Prust , died July 30 th , 1890 , aged 44 years . "

Amongst some beautiful floral tributes was a very handsome wreath ' * With sincere regret and in token of fraternal love from the brethren of the Jordan Lodge of Freemasons , No . 1402 , Torquay , 2 nd August , 18 90 , " with a suitable Masonic card bearing the square and compasses , and another from the W . M ., officers , and brethren of the St . John ' s Lodge , No . 328 .

Among those present at the ceremony of unveiling a statue to the memory ofthe late Right Hon . VV . E . Forster , M . P ., in the Victoria Embankment Gardens , ou Friday , the ist instant , were Bros . Hugh C . E . Childers , M . P ., Earl Granville , Albert Pell , Sir R . N . Fowler , Bart ., M . P ., Sir Charles Dalrymple , Bart ., M . P ., and others . The ceremony was performed by Viscount Cranbrook , Lord President of the Council .
